[January 2008] Currently living in East Sussex with his wife. He suffered a debilitating stroke a few years ago which has affected his memory and left him unable to speak. According to his wife he has a great passion for poetry.
Began on stage with the Ulster Group Theatre in the early 1950s.
Joined the BBC's radio drama repertory company in London in the late 1950s.
Born into an upper middle-class Protestant family in County Armagh. His father worked in the linen industry in Portadown.
Studied law at Queen's University in Belfast, before embarking on his theatrical career with the Ulster Group Theatre.
