General Hospital (Gh) spoilers tease that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) has been very good at hiding some of his darkest tendencies for years now.
He helped Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) fund the Pikeman Group years ago and has been working with the criminal organization behind the scenes for years now. But now that Brennan has been jailed, Valentin has taken the leadership role himself. That means he runs the risk of exposure more than ever now.
General Hospital Spoilers – Valentin Cassadine Has Hidden His Darkest Side!
It’s worth nothing that at one point, Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) admitted that Valentin was the Cassadine she feared the most. But aside from a few instances, Valentin hasn’t really given any indication that’s as ruthless as his mother indicated.
Valentin seemed to really soften once his daughter, Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) began to emulate him.

“I Saw the TV Glow” director Jane Schoenbrun finally celebrated their second feature at the film’s New York City premiere on Wednesday, April 24, in partnership with Rooftop Films. But “I Saw the TV Glow” first premiered back in January at Sundance, under the banner of A24, and with Emma Stone and Dave McCary’s production company Fruit Tree.
“I sent it to [Fruit Tree] and a couple other people, and they were like, ‘Hey, we wanna work with you,'” Schoenbrun told IndieWire. “Then I got a call from Emma Stone who was like, ‘Thank you so much for your business,’ and I was like, ‘You’re welcome!'”
The visually striking film follows two teens who are obsessed with a disturbing young adult TV show that, once canceled, starts to bleed into reality for the characters. David Ehrlich wrote in IndieWire’s review that the film “marries the queer radicality...

In James Mangold's "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," Jones (Harrison Ford) goes on a globe-trotting adventure with his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) to locate pieces and details about the titular widget, a temporal compass constructed by Archimedes. Helena is a sassy, criminal artifacts trader with a heart of gold, and she has left a trail of broken hearts and loyal followers in her wake; the makers of "Dial of Destiny" were likely trying to set up a spinoff film franchise with Helena at the helm.
One of the heroine's more loyal sidekicks is her connection in Morocca, Teddy (Ethann Isidore). Teddy is about 12 or 13, and dreams of flying airplanes, receiving oral lessons from other pilots who pass through town. When Indy and Helena pass through town, pursued by vicious Nazi stooges, Teddy will instantly be swept up in their intrigue, dragged along into various vehicles and locations without much time to think.

Mumbai, Sep 7 (Ians) Nothing succeeds like success — and who better than the Badshah himself, Shah Rukh Khan, to endorse that adage. Close on the heels of the success of his earlier release this year, ‘Pathan’, King Khan is back with yet another high-octane action thriller outlining the emotional journey of a man who is set to rectify the wrongs in the society.
By all standards, his latest, ‘Jawan’, is slightly hurried, though not in the least shoddy in terms of production values, and still manages to be an intoxicating blend of disparate ingredients. But am I complaining? Nah!
Even if there are too many over-the-top action thrills that are unrelenting in terms of their big set pieces, and enough violence go with them, ‘Jawan’ is immensely watchable. And, needless to add, entertaining!

Sweet Magnolias happens to be one of the top romantic dramas that revolves around a town and its residents. The show introduced a plethora of characters and helps us comprehend how Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue become integral parts of their lives. Serenity, South Carolina—the name exudes peace, and that is exactly what the townspeople want. The three leads of Sweet Magnolias run the show in Serenity, and they happen to be the nicest souls. It will be interesting to see what kind of problems they will be facing with the third season of the show.
The second season ends with Ryan proposing to Helen because he thinks she is still pining for him. The truth here is that she is not sure if she wants to be with him. Erik, her current boyfriend, was by her side when she went through a miscarriage and has been instrumental in her feeling better ever since.

Many fictional television shows and web series are set in fictional towns, which become integral to the plot of the show. There is Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls, Mystics Falls in The Vampire Diaries, Hawkins in Stranger Things, and Capeside in Dawson’s Creek. Most of the time, these fictional small towns become an inherent part of the residents’ lives, so much so that most of them are unwilling to move to bigger cities and learn to live around the charms and quirks of such places.
Sweet Magnolias, a Netflix original romantic drama created by Sheryl J. Anderson, is based on the books by Sherryl Woods. The first two seasons of the show are about three independent women from Serenity, South Carolina, and how they have managed to establish themselves in the community as people of utmost importance. In Karlovy Vary Film Festival competition entry “We Have Never Been Modern,” Czech director Matej Chlupacek takes on both the dangers of Utopian bubbles and the power of unbending faith in traditional gender concepts.
The story, set in a Slovak company town built by a visionary industrialist, takes place on the eve of World War II, as a murder mystery threatens to upset the idealized community. The factory director’s wife Helena, played by Eliska Krenkova, is an aspiring doctor who is soon to give birth. But her rosy future is suddenly darkened by the discovery of the body of a newborn intersex baby in the factory’s courtyard.
All these elements might seem like a heavy burden for a young indie filmmaker who eschewed film school and whose last effort at making a feature was a decade ago, “Touchless” – made when he was a 17-year-old debut writer-director.

While Harrison Ford is joined by a couple of familiar faces — Karen Allen and John Rhys-Davies — in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the rest of the cast is new to the Indiana Jones team. Czech director Matěj Chlupáček may not even be 30 yet, but when his period drama We Have Never Been Modern (Úsvit) debuted in the main competition of the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival a few days ago, buzz was ringing through the fest halls that it could become the Czech submission for the 2024 Academy Awards.
The film, with a screenplay by Miro Šifra, is set in 1937’s Czechoslovakia and follows Helena (Eliška Křenková, Bird Atlas, Winter Flies) who is about to give birth and face a rosy future in a modern city as the wife of a successful young factory manager. “However, all her illusions soon perish, as the dead body of a newborn intersex baby is found in the middle of their factory,” a plot description highlights. “Helena needs to find out what happened here for the safety of her own child, but she runs into her own prejudices.

This post contains spoilers for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Indiana Jones gets punched in the face. That’s how director James Mangold decided to end Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth and final movie about the adventurous archaeologist. For some, the ending is the ultimate sign of disrespect, in which a broken Indy begs to be left in the past with Archimedes, only to get knocked out and dragged to the present by his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge). Others found it to be a bit of a stretch, taking Dr. Jones out of his element via time travel, and throwing him into an unfamiliar past with the aid of another wild MacGuffin.
But for Mangold, the ending was the only way to close out the final movie in a franchise that began in 1981. Giving Indy access to a time-travel device and then letting him...

A lacquered Czech period piece with surprisingly topical interests at its core, “We Have Never Been Modern” rather ambitiously borrows its title from a key text by the late French philosopher Bruno Latour — in which he argued that humanity’s distinction between nature and our own culture is a wholly modern development, and one we’d do best to move away from. While Latour’s ideas can indeed be mapped onto a story that charts modern society’s fixation on human advancement against its rejection of human difference, Matěj Chlupáček’s gripping, gleamingly produced second feature isn’t as academic as all that: Ultimately a humane message movie planting flags for both women’s liberation and queer rights, this Karlovy Vary competition premiere could easily resonate with festival and arthouse audiences away from home turf.

The following piece contains spoilers about “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
Considering “Raiders of the Lost Ark” ends with angels of death emerging from the Ark of the Covenant to melt the faces of multiple Nazis, it’s not like the Indiana Jones franchise is known specifically for its fidelity to reality. It was with that in mind that “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” director James Mangold devised his film’s finale: an audacious trip back in time to the Siege of Syracuse in 213 BC.
“Well, I never presented it as time travel. I never really thought of it as time travel,” Mangold explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “They certainly go through a portal in time at the end of the movie. But the movie isn’t about time travel. It’s about time, it’s about getting older and it’s about the world changing around you.

The spectrum of gender and sexuality may seem to be a subject firmly rooted in the political and cultural squabbles of 2023, but Czech director Matej Chlupacek has chosen to look at it through the lens of 1937 in “We Have Never Been Modern,” an affecting drama that both relies on and transcends its period setting.

The Indiana Jones franchise has, time and again, introduced some of the best-supporting characters, without whom Indy’s adventures would have remained forever incomplete. In his on-screen journey encompassing four decades, Indy has found a trustworthy, charming friend in Sallah; a quippy, brave sidekick in Short Round; and a witty, clueless colleague in the curator Marcus Brody, all of whom became much endeared to the audience through the years. Indy was yet to find a worthy successor who could keep his legacy intact, and even though his son Mutt could have fit the role, poor audience reception of the character portrayed by Shia Labeouf in Kingdom of The Crystal Skull resulted in the character’s off-screen death.
Finally, in the last chapter of Indy’s journey, Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny, the character Helena ‘Wombat’ Shaw makes an appearance, whose actions, motivations, and growth as a character have...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold is glad he not only met his heroes but collaborated with them, too.
Dial of Destiny is Mangold’s twelfth feature film, but it was his second film, Cop Land (1997), that prepared him most for the job nearly three decades later. Cop Land boasted a cast of Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and Ray Liotta among others, and this experience conditioned the New York filmmaker for his current working relationships alongside industry titans such as Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, George Lucas, John Williams, Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy. Mangold certainly anticipated moments where one of these heavy hitters would pull rank, but he was pleasantly surprised when just the opposite happened.

While Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny marks Harrison Ford’s final performance as Dr. Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., the franchise may continue with another character leading future expeditions into the unknown. I’m talking about Indy’s goddaughter, Helena Shaw. Phoebe Waller-Bridge brings the character to life in the James Mangold-directed sequel. From what I’ve heard, Helena is a highlight of the new film, and the franchise’s future could rest in her capable hands. In a recent interview with Variety, producer Kathleen Kennedy says it’s “entirely possible” for Waller-Bridge to continue the brand.

Some may recall that last year we posted a video of Williams performing "Helena's Theme" from Dial of Destiny at a Hollywood Bowl performance before we even knew who Helena was. Now with the movie about to open, this featurette is a reminder of how glorious and iconic Williams is and all of his themes are. This is expected to be Williams' very last score after decades of work, though you never know. The video features Steven Spielberg, James Mangold, Harrison Ford, and Kathleen Kennedy talking about the magic of John Williams,...

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should. Case in point: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
Harrison Ford was game to reprise his role as the Nazi-hating, snake-loathing archaeologist, and there seemed to be, if not demand, at least an interest in another Indy adventure. Unfortunately, the lack of a compelling story or memorable action scenes results in a missed opportunity and a rather lackluster conclusion to the blockbuster franchise.
Dial of Destiny time travels back to the 1940s to explain the film’s title and set up the retrieval of the archaeologically important centerpiece. The flashback gives us a Harrison Ford at about the age he was in Raiders of the Lost Ark, courtesy of some groundbreaking VFX technology.

James Mangold did not say no, exactly, to Indiana Jones when the man in the fedora came knocking. But he didn’t open the door at first either. Instead, during those precious few months before a pandemic changed the world, Mangold experienced the surreal sensation of having his filmmaking idols Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and Kathleen Kennedy approach him about directing the fifth Indiana Jones film—and essentially turning them down.
“There seemed like a lot of danger on a project like this,” Mangold recalls about that early discussion, “a lot of Mount Rushmore heads of greatness around me and a kind of pressure that I’m used to, but the point for me is always why are we making this movie? What does it have to say? Like, I know why a corporation...

Bleak, clean spaces arranged in ominously geometrical order: Jessica Hausner’s eye for threatening design was destined to alight, sooner or later, on a boarding school. Our first glimpse of the expensive English boarding school for talented teenagers is from somewhere on the ceiling, from where we watch students in a sporty pan-gender uniform – long shorts and shirts in a sickly acid green, surely the color of nausea – moving stackable plastic chairs to form a circle.

If you went to the movies in 1989 you might have heard Indiana Jones growl the line “it belongs in a museum.” You’ll hear him say it again in The Dial of Destiny (premiering this week at a notably geriatric Cannes Film Festival) but you won’t get his enemy’s timely response: “So do you.” Harrison Ford was 49 years old back then, in a film called The Last Crusade––which it, of course, was not. Ford returned as Jones in 2008 for Steven Spielberg’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and now, miraculously, once again for director James Mangold’s first swing at the franchise: an effects-drenched, largely amiable swan song for the whip-cracking explorer that never really lives up to its hero’s adventurous spirit.

"I feel confident that we're gonna knock their socks off!" Lucasfilm has unveiled a joyous new featurette for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which just had its premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival yesterday. The film will be set in 1969 in the middle of the Space Race, with Harrison Ford back as Indy. Meanwhile, Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the Moon-landing program, wants to "rectify the world and make it into a better place as he sees fit." Along with Ford, Dial of Destiny stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Helena, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, with Antonio Banderas, and John Rhys-Davies. This movie is a blast!! I just watched it this morning and it delivered everything I wanted from this continuation. There's not much to this new featurette, and they're not going to give away anything in any new footage.

Indiana Jones has fought a lot of screen villains: Nazis, assassins, evil high priests, corrupt rich douchebags, Cate Blanchett, Cate Blanchett’s hair. Yet Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny — the fifth movie to feature Harrison Ford’s globetrotting, snake-hating, whip-cracking, fedora-rocking archeology professor — pits our man Indy against the single greatest nemesis he’s ever faced: time.
Oh, there’s a ton of Nazis here too, trust us. Ditto some shady government agents, a racist redneck, a henchman roughly the size and width of a redwood, a Moroccan kingpin with a scimitar,...

There was genuine curiosity for many of us when James Mangold was confirmed as director on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth and final entry in the beloved franchise that started with a bang in 1981 when Steven Spielberg and George Lucas reimagined the Saturday matinee adventure serials they grew up with for a new generation that couldn’t get enough. Mangold, after all, was the man who not only resuscitated the weary Wolverine but gave the character a genuinely poignant sendoff that was thoughtful, textured, even profound in 2017’s Logan.
Maybe the Indiana Jones films, with their appealing combination of laughs and close-shave thrills built around a rugged, quick-thinking archeologist in a fedora and leather jacket, were never going to be a great fit for that kind of gritty treatment. But it seemed fair to hope for at least some kind of fresh take beyond the rinse-and-repeat...

One of the best lines in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” – which is to say, one of the best lines in the entire, now-five-film saga of Indiana Jones – comes when Harrison Ford’s intrepid archaeologist and part-time Nazi hunter lies on a bed, bruised, battered and aching pretty much everywhere. When his girlfriend, Marion (Karen Allen), comments on how many years he’s been doing the punishing gig, Ford ad-libbed, “It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.”
Well, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” which premiered on Thursday night at the Cannes Film Festival, is about the years and the mileage. Then it’s about the years some more because the semi-supernatural twist this time around involves time travel.
The film is full of action, stunts and escapes from Nazis, because that’s what “Indiana Jones” movies are. It relies heavily on the charm and charisma...

For over four decades, Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones has served as the greatest adventurer in all of American cinema. The time has now come for ol' Indy to hang up his pinch-front fedora, but not before one last adventure. "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year, with the fifth film in the franchise posed to be the swan song for the pop culture icon. The film follows Indiana Jones in a race against time to obtain a fabled dial that can change history.
Indy is joined by his goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) on his mission, as their quest to retrieve the dial puts them in the crosshairs of Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a former Nazi working for NASA who has his own plans for the dial. There must be 50 ways to escape a Nazi. Over the 2 hours and 22 minutes of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, we see Indy and his ragtag entourage drive planes, trains and automobiles through the streets of New York, Tangiers and somewhere picturesque in Sicily, hijack two getaway tuk-tuks, ride a horse at full pelt through the New York subway tunnels, and fly a vintage plane through a “time fissure” to land right in the middle of – well, we can’t say too much, but the kind of place and time that would be Indy’s idea of Shangri-la. “Too many Nazis!” growls Indy, just before he leaps from a speeding train hundreds of yards down into a churning river. Sometimes, the essence of being an adventuring hero is to know when to put the bullwhip down and get out of Dodge.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema should offer a special brew spiked with drippings from the Bloodstone to celebrate their newest infernal partnership. With the film’s Cannes premiere just under a month away, Disney didn’t need to do the hard sell for Lucasfilm’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” But Cinemacon audiences did get to see an extended action sequence, one featuring both Dr. Henry Jones Jr. and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as his goddaughter Helena trying to avoid getting punched, shot or otherwise blown up.
The sneak peek showed Indiana Jones and his goddaughter bickering with each other as they dodge gunfire and slow-moving camels in a bazaar in Tangier. As they’re being chased themselves, they’re chasing after the evil Jurgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), who has the Dial of Destiny in his possession.
But Helena and Indy don’t seem to be on the same page when it comes to the dial. Helena is engaged to an unscrupulous man who wants the dial to make a fortune, and...

They became known as “Ghost” and “Darkness” by the frightened workers, who believed them to be vengeful spirits defending their ancestral land from the encroaching British empire.
