What Do We Know About Dune Prophecy? More than you may think. With the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel a critical and box office success, it is going to be several years before we see the next feature film in the series, Dune Messiah. Luckily, production on the small-screen prequel /spin-off was concurrent with Dune: Part Two which means before the end of the year we are going to return to the fictional realms of Arrakis, Geidi Prime, and more via Max.
While not much in the way of footage has made its way online, there have been quite a few reveals about Dune Prophecy, so let’s jump in and discuss.
Denis Villeneuve is not directing any episodes

Once known as Dune: The Sisterhood, the Max streaming series Dune: Prophecy, which serves as a prequel to the Dune feature films directed by Denis Villeneuve, started filming in November of 2022, then underwent quite a shake-up in 2023 when the director of the first two episodes, Johan Renck (who executive produced and directed all five episodes of the HBO limited series Chernobyl) decided to leave the project over creative issues, then Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) – who had been cast as one of the show’s lead characters – followed him out the door. Everything has been worked out since then, with Dune: Prophecy on track for a fall 2024 premiere. To start building the hype, Max just unveiled a teaser trailer for the show, and you can check it out in the embed above!

The “Dune” universe is expanding once more.
After the massively successful release of “Dune: Part Two” and the teasing of a third film written and directed by Denis Villeneuve, the literary franchise has landed a TV adaptation with “Dune: Prophecy.” The Max series is inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s novel “Sisterhood of Dune” — a teaser was revealed during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation, with the six-episode season set to debut this fall on streamer Max.
The official synopsis reads: From the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), “Dune: Prophecy” follows two Harkonnen sisters (Emily Watson and Olivia Williams) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.

Dev Patel’s feature directorial debut Monkey Man leads the new films at this weekend’s UK-Ireland box office, starting in 592 cinemas through Universal.
Directed, produced, from a story by and starring Patel, Monkey Man follows an anonymous young man who unleashes a campaign of violence against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother, and continue to systematically victimise the poor and powerless.
Filmed in early 2021, Netflix originally bought worldwide rights to Monkey Man. After Jordan Peele boarded the title as producer through his Monkeypaw Productions, Universal acquired it from Netflix earlier this year. It debuted at SXSW last month.

"At least I'm trying to be a good person." "Rich people are unreasonable." Parkland Pictures has unveiled the official UK trailer for a dark comedy film called The Trouble with Jessica, arriving in UK cinemas this April. Though there's still no US date yet. Winner of the Jury Prize & Audience Award at Dinard Film Festival 2023. This reminds me of the original Death at a Funeral comedy, and it even also co-stars Alan Tudyk just like that one. Sarah and Tom are in deep financial trouble. Their situation takes a terrifying nosedive with the shocking behavior of uninvited dinner guest, Jessica. Just when they think they can sell their stylish London home to the right buyer, Jessica's rash decision leaves them in even more of a situation than before. The Trouble with Jessica ensemble cast features Shirley Henderson, Alan Tudyk, Rufus Sewell, Olivia Williams, Sylvester Groth, Anne Reid, and Indira Varma as the titular Jessica.

Henderson, Indira Varma, Rufus Sewell and Olivia Williams attend a Hampstead dinner party that takes a dark turn in a play-like sendup that could go harder
There are echoes of Carnage and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in this satire of north London liberals. It’s an original script but has the staginess of a filmed play, set almost entirely in one location: a big fancy house in Hampstead where two uber-successful couples in their 50s are chattering over dinner. I wasn’t totally convinced by the dialogue; some of the lines aren’t especially clever or witty given that this is a bunch of highly intelligent over-achievers. Not enough sparks were flying.
What the movie does have going for it is a terrific performance by Shirley Henderson as brittle, nervy Sarah, the owner of said fancy Hampstead house, along with her husband Tom (Alan Tudyk). He’s a...

The Harry Potter and Bridget Jones star is a dazzlingly versatile performer, with a string of Michael Winterbottom films under her belt, as well as Star Wars, TV’s Happy Valley and an Olivier award. She explains how she keeps on top of it all
It is easy to feel protective of Shirley Henderson on this gloomy winter afternoon. Is she warm enough? Does she want to put the heating on? “Aye, I’m Ok,” she says from her home in Fife, a few strands of chestnut hair falling over her glasses as she huddles close to the laptop. “It’s a wee bit blowy out. But I’m at the age where you can get too warm, so I’m all right.” Her giggle is helium-high: the sort of sound you want to trap, like in one of those toy moo boxes, so that you can play it when...

Keri Russell is pretty recognizable. From the college drama series "Felicity" to FX's spy thriller "The Americans," not to mention a small but key role in "Mission: Impossible III," general audiences know her face. However, fans may not have recognized her in "Star Wars: Episode IX -- The Rise of Skywalker," where she always wore a mask. Though we see her eyes for a bit, that's all we get. If you recall, her character, Zorii Bliss, encountered our Resistance heroes on the planet Kijimi, while they were looking for Babu Frik (Shirley Henderson) to get information from inside C-3Po (Anthony Daniels). Zorii has a past with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), both romantically and as a fellow spice runner. Though she initially threatens them at blaster point, Zorii ends up helping the Resistance, even turning up with Babu Frik in the battle of Exegol.

Exclusive: Max’s Dune prequel series Dune: The Sisterhood is set to relaunch production in Budapest “any day now” and will continue throughout the course of the WGA and SAG strikes, a source close to the show tells Deadline.
The series thus takes the path of House of the Dragon and Industry, given that, like those HBO titles, which we reported on earlier in the day, The Sisterhood is an Equity contract production with some from SAG-AFTRA also in the mix. And per guidance from the actors guild stateside, members working under Equity contracts are to “continue to report.”
The Sisterhood resumes production following a November launch, leading into a hiatus that always was planned, our source tells us, to get around winter conditions in Hungary. The show also notably lost director Johan Renck, creator and pilot writer Diane Ademu-John (as co-showrunner) and stars Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma earlier this year,...

The series has had a tumultuous development so far. In November 2022, series creator and writer Diane Ademu-John (The Haunting of Bly Manor) stepped down as co-showrunner, living Alison Schapker (Westworld) as the series’ sole showrunner,...

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).

This article contains some potential spoiler details from the novel Tom Jones and its TV adaptation.
Tom Jones, Masterpiece PBS’s latest period drama miniseries team-up with historical storytelling powerhouse Mammoth Screen and U.K. network Itvx, is a romantic comedy blended in with sharp commentary on class and morality in mid-18th century Britain. The show is the first television adaptation of the classic novel of the same name by Henry Fielding.
Fielding’s novel tells the story of Tom (Solly McCleod), an illegitimate child of a maid who was adopted by Squire Allworthy (James Fleet). He grows up among the gentry but is constantly reminded of his frowned-upon low origins. Tom also ends up befriending some of the working-class residents nearby as well. His childhood friend Blifil (James Wilbraham) is set to inherit a large estate but eventually, he becomes Tom’s rival as his parents arrange to...

Late 2019 was a wild time for Star Wars fans. Not only was the world – well, the US at least – getting goo-goo eyes for ‘Baby Yoda’ (since he didn’t have an official name at that point) as The Mandalorian debuted on Disney+. In that brief window of time, two deliriously delightful Star Wars oddballs were born. Imagine if they could ever, somehow, share screentime?
For the Grogu gang and the Frik freaks, the wait it over – that time has officially come. As teased in the trailers, the Season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian sees our heroes come into contact with members of the Anzellan species – not just one, but a whole gaggle of them, jabbering away in a tiny garage on the streets of Nevarro. And not only do they get to interact with the ever-inquisitive (and relentlessly mischievous) Grogu, but one even ends up in an impromptu wrestling match with him.

One of the best things about "Star Wars" is that there are tons of different alien species from across the galaxy to get to know and love. You've got your Wookiees, your Mon Calamari, your Rancors, and dozens more that are brought to life with puppetry and elaborate makeup. The baby Grogu on "The Mandalorian" is already one seriously adorable alien, but the series reintroduced another species of space creatures that are almost as cute: the Anzellans! While visiting Nevarro and looking to repair Ig-11 in for a new mission, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) meets up with a group of Anzellans who work as droid mechanics, just like the Anzellan known as Babu Frik (voiced by Shirley Henderson) from "Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker."

The HBO Max series Dune: The Sisterhood (which is a prequel to the Dune feature films directed by Denis Villeneuve) is having a rough ride on its way to the screen. First, the show lost showrunner Jon Spaihts (co-writer of the first Dune film) – and when he stepped away from the show it was said that he would be focusing on working on the screenplay for Dune: Part 2 with Villeneuve instead. The Hollywood Reporter’s sources also informed them that Spaihts had turned in one script and a revised outline for Dune: The Sisterhood, and the producers at Legendary weren’t happy with his work. So the decision was made that he was better off sticking with the features. Spaihts was replaced by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker… and then Ademu-John stepped down as well, leaving Schapker as the sole showrunner. Villeneuve had been planning to direct the first two episodes of the series,...

HBO Max’s “Dune” prequel spinoff “The Sisterhood” is going through some changes. Both director Johan Renck and star Shirley Henderson have exited the HBO Max series, Variety has confirmed.

Much like how the original "Dune" novel was seemingly cursed to never make it to the screen, its prequel series may be developing the same notoriety. That's because "Dune: The Sisterhood," the prequel series to Denis Villeneuve's 2021 epic, has lost a significant number of creative talent as it undergoes an alleged overhaul. Deadline exclusively reported that star Shirley Henderson, who was slated to play Tula Harkonnen, has left the project alongside creator and co-showrunner Diane Ademu-John and director Johan Renck.
As of right now, there isn't one precise reason that can be traced to these exits. However, it does appear as if these exits were done separately on each party's accord. In a statement sent to Deadline, HBO Max implied that at least Renck's departure was on amicable terms, conflicting with the trade's sources that imply creative differences forced the director out. This could be the same reasoning behind the departure of Ademu-John,...

HBO Max’s return to Arrakis is taking a bit of a setback. The “Dune” prequel series has lost both its director and one of its stars, IndieWire has confirmed. This news does not in any way affect the release of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two” this fall.

The black comedy tells the story of two couples who find themselves having to move a dead body to ensure their imminent house sale doesn’t collapse.
Sewell (“Old”) and Williams (“The Father”) play one of the couples, Richard and Beth, while Henderson (“Harry Potter”) and Alan Tudyk (“Rogue One”) play their friends Sarah and Tom. Indira Varma (“Obi Wan Kenobi”) plays the eponymous doomed Jessica.
In the first trailer, which Variety unveils exclusively below ahead of the film’s Berlin market premiere later this month, the two couples are seen panicking after their friend Jessica dies by suicide in Sarah and Tom’s garden just as they are on the brink of selling the house for some much-needed cash.

As part of its Tuesday panel at the Television Critics Association 2023 winter press tour, Masterpiece has announced two new projects including a biographical series about Noele “Nolly” Gordon starring Helena Bonham Carter and “Moonflower Murders,” the follow up project to “Magpie Murders,” are in the works for the network.
“Nolly” tells the story of the British soap opera legend whose unceremonious firing from her hit show at the height of her career was front-page news. As one of the most famous faces on British TV in the 1960s and ’70s, Gordon is described as a woman who refused to play by the rules and ultimately transformed into a forgotten icon after the industry turned on her. Carter will star in the titular role.
“Doctor Who” showrunner Russell T. Davies penned the script. “Nolly” marks the first production from Nicola Shindler’s new production company Quay Street Productions, which is part of ITV Studios.

Warning: contains spoilers for Happy Valley Series 1 and 2.
“I’m Catherine, by the way. I’m forty-seven, I’m divorced, I live with my sister – who’s a recovering heroin addict – I have two grown-up children. One dead and one who doesn’t speak to me. And a grandson! So.”
That’s how Sgt Catherine Cawood introduced herself to a junkie threatening to light himself on fire, and to us, the audience, in Happy Valley’s opening scene. That speech set out the character’s stall – Catherine was unflappable, no-nonsense, good in a crisis, and had a complicated home life with tragedy in her past. It was all we needed to know to fall in love.
Over two series, we watched Catherine police her patch, solving kidnappings, serial killings and drug murders, while holding back a wave of shit threatening to engulf her at home. There was recovering addict Clare...
