Prime Video has announced that we will get our first look at some footage from the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power tomorrow when the first teaser trailer is released online.
Production has been underway since late 2022 at Bray Studios, just outside London. Season 1 was shot in New Zealand, but the decision was made to change-up location because The UK is "considered more economical and is also where the company is establishing a multi-show hub."
The first season concluded with the reveal that the seemingly benevolent Halbrand was actually Sauron all along. The Dark Lord offered Galadriel the chance to join him once his ruse was discovered, and when she refused, he fled back to the Southlands (soon to be known as Mordor).
It was also heavily implied that "The Stranger" was really Gandalf, but this is yet to be confirmed by actor Daniel Weyman or the showrunners.

The BBC has revealed more details about this year’s Comic Relief telethon, which will be broadcast on 15th March on BBC One.
Comic Relief launched in 1985 with a telethon that has since become embedded in British culture. Known as Red Nose Day, on account of the red noses sold as part of the appeal, over the years this has led to many classic comic moments, from The Young Ones singing Livin’ Doll with Cliff Richard, to Johnny Depp and Sting appearing in The Vicar Of Dibley, to Billy Connolly running naked through Trafalgar Square and Mr Bean infiltrating both Blind Date, and a Torvill and Dean dance routine.
Lenny Henry, who co-founded Comic Relief with Richard Curtis, recently revealed that he will be stepping down as host after this year’s telethon. Henry said of his decision that “when we first started Comic Relief back in 1985, I never dreamed...

It’s a pretty great time to be a Neil Gaiman fan. Technically, it’s always a great time to be a Neil Gaiman fan, but it’s almost certainly never felt more fun than at this precise moment.
Good Omens, The Sandman, and American Gods have all been adapted for television within the past five years, each with a rather astonishing degree of accuracy and faithfulness-–certainly to the spirit, if not always the letter of the author’s most popular works. Both Sandman and Good Omens will return for future seasons, a series based on Gods spin-off Anansi Boys is set to debut on Prime Video in the not-too-distant future, and Dead Boy Detectives, a show that’s focused on several DC characters created by Gaiman has been reclaimed by Netflix as part of their expanding Sandman onscreen universe. ITV Spent $68M On Diverse Shows In 2023
ITV invested £54.2M ($68M) of its Diversity Commissioning Fund last year on shows made by or about people from under-represented backgrounds such as Lenny Henry’s Three Little Birds. The fund was launched in 2022 with £80M to be spent across three years to “drive change towards racial equity and disability equity in whose stories get told,” with one quarter reserved for content made by “production companies led by People of Colour and/or Deaf, Disabled and/or Neurodivergent people.” The figures came as part of the Love Island network’s Diversity Acceleration Plan report for the previous 12 months, which said 475 productions across around 160 production companies have embedded Dei using ITV’s production principles over the past three years. The BBC has a similar £100M fund across a three-year period to March 2024 and says it has already exceeded this target. ITV said plans for...

Lenny Henry is to present his final Comic Relief this year.
The comedian co-founded the charity with fabled director Richard Curtis in 1985 and has since hosted multiple BBC telethons and been involved closely with the organization.
He said it was time to see “new faces” at the helm but remains life president of Comic Relief – a telethon called Red Nose Day that takes place annually and features comedians, singers and actors trying to raise money for various charities.
“When we first started Comic Relief back in 1985, I never dreamed we’d still be here today,” said Henry, an actor, comedian and creative who recently launched a Banijay-backed indie, Esmerelda Productions. Recent acting credits include The Witcher and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, while he created ITV drama Three Little Birds.

As the streaming landscape continues to readjust after a turbulent few years, some platforms are riding the wave more comfortably than others. A case in point is SVOD service BritBox International, which was founded in 2017 as a joint venture by U.K. broadcasters ITV and BBC.
Available in eight markets outside the U.K. including the U.S., Canada and Australia, BritBox offers a uniquely specific output: namely, British content for international audiences. (A sister service with the same name operated solely by ITV is available in the U.K.).
In terms of genre, there’s everything from drama to soaps plus crime, comedy and what BritBox CEO Reemah Sakaan calls “British pastimes,” meaning shows about things like antiques and gardening. The streamer also boasts its own original content, such as upcoming Cary Grant biopic “Archie,” which stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”) as the Hollywood legend.

The streamer also boasts its own original content, such as upcoming Cary Grant biopic “Archie,” which stars Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”) as the Hollywood legend.

Exclusive: As Deadline reported earlier this week, Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons of Good Omens, will not be returning for the expected third season of the Amazon/BBC series. It turns out Mackinnon also has exited another Neil Gaiman Amazon fantasy series, the upcoming Anansi Boys.
According to sources, Mackinnon left Anansi Boys last November when the show was in early post-production, having wrapped filming on its six-episode order at the end of May.
Like with Good Omens, Mackinnon served as co-showrunner alongside Gaiman, director and executive producer on Anansi Boys, an adaptation of Gaiman’s novel. He will get a directing credit on an episode and an “additional material shot by” credit on another, in addition to being listed as executive producer, I hear.
Anansi Boys remains in post-production with no premiere date set yet.

Lenny Henry has launched a scripted production outfit backed by the £50M ($61M) Banijay UK Growth Fund.
Henry is helming Esmerelda Productions with former EastEnders and Casualty exec Jon Sen. It will produce drama and comedy shows with an emphasis on working with under-represented writers, cast and crew.
British comedy legend and diversity lobbyist Henry will step down as CEO of his current Banijay-backed production house Douglas Road, with MD Angela Ferreira taking the reins. Grey Worm himself aka Interview With The Vampire’s Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) joins us on the show to chat all things undead now that the show has arrived in its entirety on BBC iPlayer.
Elsewhere on the pod, there’s an unusual amount to toe-sucking discussion as we review Fellow Travelers on Paramount+. Kay gets the willies from spooktacular documentary The Enfield Poltergeist on Apple, and we take a trip down Lenny Henry’s memory lane in Three Little Birds on ITV. This Witcher article contains spoilers for season 3 part 1 and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
In the first part of The Witcher season 3, we learn that Istredd (Royce Pierreson) is one of many people looking for Ciri (Freya Allan) across the Continent. After learning of her Elder Blood last season, he seems to be interested in her connection to the Monoliths for academic purposes. Rather than sending soldiers or monsters after Ciri, his search for answers first sends him on a quest to find the Book of Monoliths, an old elven book that supposedly “holds the key to traveling between spheres.”
Based on information he gets from super sleuths Codringher (Simon Callow) and Fenn (Liz Carr), Istredd tracks the book to an elven cavern near Nilfgaard and is shocked to find that someone from Aretuza had already claimed it. When he returns to his alma mater for the Conclave, he helps Triss...

Award-winning writer and producer Chris Heath has announced a brand-new audio sitcom Cat/Person; a series of overheard conversations between a broken man Matthew (Chris Heath) and Hobson (Sue Vincent), his sarcastic, selfish, sociopathic rescue cat. Cat/Person accurately and hilariously encapsulates the kind of relentless emotional hazing that cats love to lavish on their eager-to-please ‘owners’.
Matthew is doing his best to keep himself from falling into a black hole following an unhappy divorce. To get him through the dark days, his friends recommend that he gets himself an emotional support animal.
Unfortunately, after a trip to the local Animal Shelter, he chose Hobson, a rescue cat played by Sue Vincent. Matthew is sentimental, messy and lonely. Hobson is hungry and is insisting on a treat. Immediately.
In each episode, we’ll overhear a selection of conversations between human and cat, as Matthew tries his best to navigate his...

Scottish thriller Guilt is back for the third and final chapter in the McCall Brothers trilogy. Neil Forsyth’s fiendishly plotted drama all began when Max and Jake – a ruthless lawyer who’d climbed his way out of his working class Leith upbringing to wealth and status, and his vinyl-loving record shop slacker sibling – were flung together when they tried to cover up an accidental hit-and-run. So began a complex and gripping story about money laundering, Edinburgh gangsters, betrayal, class, family and yes, guilt.
Series three finds Max and Jake forced back to Edinburgh where some old enemies await. They’re joined by Pi-turned legal advisor Kenny Burns, his police detective girlfriend Yvonne, criminal kingpin Maggie Lynch, dangerously unpredictable ex-con Teddy and more familiar faces from the first two series. Also appearing are a range of new characters, as follows:
Isaura Barbé-Brown as Yvonne Nixon

Lenny Henry has recalled the racist abuse his family was subjected to while he was growing up in the UK.
The Rings of Power star is making his playwriting debut with August in England, a one-man show that will open at the end of April at the Bush Theatre in west London.
Inspired by the BBC’s 2019 Soon Gone: A Windrush Chronicle, Henry’s production tells the story of British-Jamaican August Henderson, played by Henry, who faces deportation when he is caught up in the Windrush scandal that saw hundreds of Commonwealth citizens deported and denied their legal rights.

We Americans are fascinated with food and the people who prepare and serve it. A quick glance at all of the reality cooking/competition shows on television will confirm this. You’ve got everything from “Master Chef” to “Iron Chef” to “Next Level Chef” to “Chef’s Table,” “Chopped,” “The Great British Bake-Off” and “The American Barbecue Showdown,” for starters. But the legacy of scripted TV shows about cooking and restaurant-ing isn’t nearly as epic, which is why FX on Hulu’s “The Bear” was such a revelation when it launched last summer.
“The Bear” introduced up to the pressure-cooker life inside an Italian beef sandwich shop in Chicago. It captured the visceral, adrenalin-pumping chaos of the food industry in a way nothing had before, showing us just how unglamorous and dangerous (and yet colorful and compelling) a kitchen can be. After just eight episodes, it’s already probably the...

David Walliams was among those vying for Britain’s spot at the next Eurovision Song Contest in a comedy sketch for the BBC’s Comic Relief broadcast.
After performing “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor in a tight leather suit, judges Graham Norton, Lulu and Sam Ryder declared that Walliams had failed to secure the gig.
Upon hearing their verdict, the comedy actor approached the judge’s table and placed a gold, Britain’s Got Talent buzzer on it.
“Well, you might not have liked it but I loved it,” Walliams said, hitting the buzzer, prompting a stream of confetti to fall around him. “Yes! I’m through to the live Eurovision final!” he declared.
“He’s not even on that show anymore,” a bemused Norton said.

Dawn French was unrecognisable (sort of) as Claudia Winkleman in BBC One’s parody of The Traitors for Comic Relief.
The Vicar of Dibley star donned Winkleman’s trademark black fringe for the sketch as well as one of the star’s giant roll-neck jumpers that gradually enveloped her whole face.
“I’m actually Claudia Winkleman: half woman, half fringe,” French tells the contestants.
“It feels like it’s time to have a discussion,” she continues. “And during that discussion I will be walking round this table incessantly saying creepy stuff and looking absolutely gorgeous.”
In one scene, French parts her fringe using a curtain pulley.
The “contestants” included Alison Hammond, who was just confirmed as Matt Lucas’s replacement on The Great British Bake Off, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mary Berry, Stephen Merchant, Danny Dyer, Jennifer Saunders and two actual Traitors contestants from season one.

After five years of quietly gathering steam within the international TV community, the 2023 edition of the London TV Screenings is its biggest outing yet.
Running Feb. 27 to March 3, the event features more than 25 distributors and 400 buyers. But how did the confab evolve from a set of casual screenings by rival distributors of the BBC into an event that now rivals MipTV in Cannes?
Its genesis goes back to 1976, when BBC Showcase was created from 25 European buyers gathering in Brighton’s Old Ship Hotel to watch episodes of shows such as “Fawlty Towers,” and buy such programs for audiences back in their home countries. The showcase then moved to other locations, including Edinburgh and Harrogate, before returning to Brighton, and eventually relocating to Liverpool in 2012.
The number of distributors and rivals to the BBC grew, so they arranged meetings with buyers and partners in London after the Showcase and began to...

Fans have been waiting for the TV adaptation of Anansi Boys – Neil Gaiman’s 2005 fantasy novel about the two sons of the spider-god Anansi – for a long, long time.
Anticipation for Anansi Boys predates The Sandman, Good Omens and even American Gods when it comes to Neil Gaiman TV series. It was first reported that an adaptation was in the works back in 2014, but this project never came to be (parts were eventually incorporated into American Gods), so fans were excited to discover an Amazon Prime Video miniseries was in production back in 2020.
Three years later, we can almost taste it, so in anticipation here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Anansi Boys:
It’s a Standalone Story… Developed From a Conversation with Sir Lenny Henry
Gaiman explains: ‘Anansi Boys began around 1996, from a conversation I had with Lenny Henry about writing a story that was...

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…
Season one
Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster
Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn
Skin – Duck
Kelis – Daisy
Teddy Sheringham – Tree
Justin Hawkins – Chameleon

Ex-footballer and TV presenter Chris Kamara has joked that his MBE will be taken off him after he did a fake Scottish accent on The Masked Singer.
In the ITV show, celebrities perform under costumes with their identity hidden from the public and judges.
The 65-year-old was the first singer to be unmasked on the show after he sang The Drifters’ “Save The Last Dance For Me”.
During the performance, Kamara did a fake Scottish accent so he could fool judges Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Rita Ora.
It clearly worked, as the foursome had thought it might be the likes of comedian presenter Ian Stirling under the mask.
After his identity was revealed, Kamara tweeted at his own expense, joking that his accent was terrible.
“They have just asked me for the MBE back ð... after that singing in a Scottish accent ð.¤£ð... ð.¤£,” he tweeted.
