Lcb Game Studio has followed up last year’s announcement of a physical version of The Pixel Pulps Collection with a Special Edition variant this Summer in Europe for the PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch, courtesy of Meridiem Games.
For those that missed it, The Pixel Pulps Collection combines Lcb Game Studio’s three previously-released pixel graphic pulp adventures—Mothmen 1966, Varney Lake, and Bahnsen Knights—into one package. Each game sports a unique visual style that pays homage to classics graphic adventures of the past, with detailed illustrations that capture the essence of classic 80s PC adventure games.
All three tales feature branching narratives with puzzles and mini-games, and all centre around paranormal investigator Lou Hill, who encounters red-eyed cryptids in Mothmen 1966, investigating three kids’ supposed encounter with a vampire in Varney Lake, and a world of religious fanatics who perform ‘route exorcisms’ on highways while biblical storms rip across the county in Bahnsen Knights.

Get ready for more pulpy graphic adventure gaming from Lcb Game Studio and publisher Chorus Worldwide Games, as their follow-up to last year’s Mothmen 1966 in Varney Lake is out now. Unlike the previous game, instead of diving into cryptids, Varney Lake deals with something a little more “grounded” in vampires.
This second entry in the Pixel Pulps Anthology following paranormal investigator Lou Hill, Varney Lake finds him investigating the story of a supposed vampire encounter in 1954. Jimmy and Christine have murky memories of their childhood vacation where they claim to have met a vampire. Their friend Doug, who was with them, has long since gone missing. Lou Hill must follow the tracks of aged recollections to deduce macabre truths and discover Doug’s fate.
Players will get to the bottom of these mysteries by setting up camp and navigating the surrounding wilderness via choice-based gameplay seamlessly affecting a branching interactive fiction.
