Harry Flynn, a veteran publicist whose clients over the decades included Bob Hope, Michael Landon, Carroll O’Connor, Donna Reed and various TV networks and film studios, has died. He was 92.
A friend of his family told Deadline that Flynn died October 5 of natural causes in Los Angeles.
He started in the business during the 1950s but left publicity for a while to write for fan magazines. In 1962, Flynn joined the newly formed ABC on-air promotion department as a writer-producer. Two years later he moved to Columbia’s Screen Gems and would run its TV promotion/publicity department for the next five years, working on such classics series as Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie, The Monkees, The Donna Reed Show, The Flying Nun and others.

Exclusive: Saladin Ahmed (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) has partnered with filmmakers Shaka King (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Travon Free (Two Distant Strangers) to create Drac: Son of Dante—a new, 15-part webcomic series for Tapas Media and Endeavor Content, which is now free to read exclusively via the former company’s website and mobile app. The series’ first two episodes have already launched, with more to come weekly on Fridays.
Drac is said to introduce a new and contemporary mythology around the origins of the iconic goth villain Dracula that will resonate with multicultural and youth audiences alike. The narrative follows Dante, an eerie, flute-playing immortal who finds himself drawn to the human condition against the natural order and better judgment of his species. Dante follows this obsession no matter how much trouble it gets him into — but a conflict for the ages erupts when his monstrous son Drac chooses a human bride.

GLAAD held their very first virtual edition of its GLAAD Media Awards and it was just as spirited and entertaining as if we were in person kiki’ing and honoring media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues. If you weren’t able to watch the virtual ceremony the 31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards will air on Logo on August 3.

It’s no surprise that politics took center stage at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards.
While Rachel Maddow accepted her award for outstanding TV journalism segment for her interview with Pete Buttigeig on “The Rachel Maddow Show,“ she said, “We are at a point where an openly gay TV host can accept an award for an interview with an openly gay major presidential candidate. Progress in this country is very rarely linear, and it barely happens on its own. If you are at all inspired by the progress you see, please vote, organize, run for office, and if you’re enraged by the regression that you see, please vote, organize and run for office.”

In 1969, there was no bigger star in popular music than singer-guitarist Glen Campbell. Although Johnny Cash was by then a weekly TV star like his fellow Arkansan, Campbell’s broad appeal ensured chart dominance across the genres of pop, country and easy listening, and his album output was impressive by any standard. In 1968, five Campbell albums were issued, with four of them topping the country chart and one, Wichita Lineman, also hitting Number One on the multi-genre Billboard 200.

Beatles insider Ken Mansfield always had the best seats in the house, even when the show was up on the roof.
Michael Lindsay-Hogg's 1970 documentary film Let It Be was recorded in January 1969, while the band rehearsed songs for their twelfth and final studio album Let It Be. Originally planned as a television documentary to go along with a concert broadcast, the documentary saw The Beatles get back to their roots. Augmented by a keyboard player they'd known since their beginnings in Hamburg, the band performed as they had in the beginning, as a five-piece with loud guitars, steady thunderous drumming and unadorned voices through microphones covered in nylon stockings. Until that day, January 30, 1969, on the roof, the Beatles hadn't performed live since August 29th, 1966, when they performed at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. The former manager of The Beatles' Apple Records in America, Ken Mansfield, saw the band at both final concerts.
On a chilly January 30, 1969, afternoon, the Beatles, who played their first concerts at The Cavern's lunchtime shows and last concert on August 29th, 1966, at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park, stepped onto the roof of their London headquarters at 3 Savile Row to shoot the ending for their last film. Bassist Paul McCartney, long a proponent for keeping music live, was the first to hit the roof and kept warm by jumping on the planks to be sure they'd hold the equipment. Drummer Ringo Starr noted his set was "nailed down in the wrong place," and slipped into his wife Maureen Starkey's red raincoat. Rhythm guitarist John Lennon fretted his "hands were too cold to play the chords,”and wrapped himself in Yoko Ono's fur coat.

Hswaii Five-0 is at its best when Jerry is let out of his basement office for an extended period of time.
It's a shame that it was under such tragic circumstances on Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 Episode 9, as Jerry's friend Susie gets shot down in front of him.
There are many theories floating around about who actually killed President Kennedy, and this episode effectively taps into the conviction of conspiracy theorists that, as Jerry puts it, "the Lgt (Lone Guman Theory) is crap."
As Jerry's oldest friend at Five-0, it falls to Chin to comfort Jerry, as Chin knows him best.
Jerry: Is this water ...
Chin: Distilled? Yeah, I know how you feel about tap water.

As they retrace Susie's final days, Jerry and Chin have a nice Mulder-and-Scully vibe going on. (It's great to see those Lost alumni thrown together.

Marvel’s Agents of Shield is coming up on their 4th Season in a few weeks and thanks to a promo debuted at San Diego Comic Con this year, we know that a major Marvel character, Ghost Rider, will be on the show this season. It won’t be the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze, as portrayed in movies by Nicholas Cage, but Robbie Reyes, the latest Ghost Rider that debuted in 2014 for a twelve issue run. To get a heads up on the character, I decided to read through that series to get an idea of what to expect for this season of Agents of Shield.
First the positives. The character of Robbie is a wonderful addition to the Marvel Universe. The relationship he has with his brother is key to the series and is played quite well. The choices he makes in the story directly relate to how he can help his brother.

The Vinegar Syndrome video label continues to unearth obscure examples of 1960s erotica. None is more bizarre than "Infrasexum", a 1969 concoction by director/actor Carlos Tobalina, who would ultimately be regarded as one of the more prolific hardcore filmmakers. Back in '69, however, it was still difficult to get theatrical showings of hardcore films, which were generally relegated to 8mm film loops sold in adult book stores. Tabolina tried to push the envelope with "Infrasexum" but was still confined by the dreaded "community standards" obscenity laws that mandated only soft-core movies could generally be shown without causing a major legal flap from local conservative groups that had routinely declared war on pornography. "Infrasexum" (I have no idea what the title means and apparently neither did Tobalina) attempts to tell a poignant story about the toll the aging process takes on sexual libido. The film opens in the...

"Why," a limo driver asks, "when McGarrett tells Danno that he's going to meet him at Pearl Harbor, they show shots of Molokai?"
Since the Hawaiian island of Molokai does not lie anywhere between downtown Honolulu and Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, it's a fair question. But who'd want to see crime fighter -- and former Navy Seal -- Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) of CBS' Monday drama "Hawaii Five-0" fight his way through city traffic rather than gazing at pristine beaches and bikini-clad surfers?
"Hawaiians have their own little gripes," O'Loughlin tells Zap2it, taking a chat break between takes on the couch in the set for his character's office, in a former newspaper building in Honolulu (the scene for most of the day's conversations). "In all seriousness, we try to show as much of Hawaii as we can."

Last season, it became clear that Mad Men’s showrunner has a penchant for the alumni of shows like The Secret World of Alex Mack and Clarissa Explains It All. And today, we learned that Weiner plans to kick off season 6 with a storyline familiar to anyone who once worshiped at the altars of Tgif and Nick at Nite: the Hawaiian vacation.

To have David Letterman kiss your ass means you've done good, like cutting off your own arm to survive, or winning the Indy 500. So Eddie Vedder is in good company. Having fought the good fight, and poured out his soul on grungy Pearl Jam classics like Ten, Vs., and Vitalogy, it was time for him to turn down the amps and do the middle-aged ukulele thing. It just was. If Don Ho was the Michael Jordan of ukulele, then Eddie Vedder is the Eddie Vedder of ukulele. He's not the Scottie Pippen of ukulele because he's not overshadowed. (And the basketball analogy isn't unwarranted, considering that Pearl Jam was originally named after NBA legend Mookie Blaylock.) On Monday's Letterman, Vedder performed "Without You," off his new album, Ukulele Songs. In a mellower tone, Vedder continues to be a bad [...]...

This week, the Dunphys of ABC's 'Modern Family' spend some time in the islands of Hawaii. Though visiting the Aloha State during a show's first season is unprecedented in the world of television comedy, it certainly isn't the first sitcom that has spent some time there. Over the last four decades there have been a half-dozen comedies that have visited Hawaii's beaches.
1. 'The Brady Bunch' -- The standard-bearer for all future visits to Hawaii. This three-part 'Hawaii Bound' episode, which began the show's fourth season, had everything: luscious scenery, a cursed tiki, creepy caves, straight hair going curly, Don Ho, Vincent Price and Marsha Brady in a bikini. Even today, almost four decades since the episodes premiered, folks will stop everything when they air.

Today, Hawaii celebrates its 50th anniversary as a U.S. state. Without Hawaii, we might not have macadamia nuts, Hawaiian shirts, or luaus. And we would definitely not have Don Ho, Bill Bixby, or Barack Obama. Most importantly, without Hawaii's admission into to the union, we might have missed out on some of the best TV of all time. Most people know that Steve McGarrett and Danno booked the perps of "Hawaii Five-o" in Honolulu but the islands were home to many more TV shows. Let's celebrate Hawaii with a run-down of the best TV shows set in the 50th state.

Legendary singer Don Ho has died of heart failure. He was 76. The crooner passed away in Hawaii on Saturday after suffering heart problems for the past several years. In 2005 the "Tiny Bubbles" singer even underwent an experimental stem cell procedure on his heart in Thailand. Promoter Tom Moffatt, who attended Ho's final Waikiki show on Thursday, said the performer had given no sign of ill health. He says, "Don was in great spirits. He was fine." Ho often insisted his successful career was an accident, laughing, "I had no intention of being an entertainer. I just played songs I liked from the radio, and pretty soon the place was jammed." Before singing fulltime, Ho joined the US Air Force, piloting transport planes between Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu and Tokyo. He later became a television star too, hosting the The Don Ho Show from 1976 to 1977. Ho is survived by his wife, Haumea, and 10 children, including Hoku, who sometimes performed with her father.

Hawaiian singing legend Don Ho is amazed by the impact of the stem cell procedure he underwent on his heart in Thailand - because he was virtually incapacitated before making the trip to Bangkok. The "Tiny Bubbles" singer, 75, could hardly walk before having the revolutionary treatment which involves injecting multiplying stem cells from his blood into his heart in a bid to strengthen the vital organ, let alone sing. But now he is feeling like a new man - even though he feared for his life just months ago. He says, "I'm feeling terrific, 100 per cent better. I'm ready to go, but I've got to listen to the doctors. When they say my heart is strong enough to get excited, I'm on. It was my last hope. I knew that if I didn't take things into my own hand, I would've been a goner."...
