- Ms Hood performed as Principal Soprano with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in the roles of Josephine in "HMS Pinafore", Mabel in "The Pirates of Penzance", the eponymous characters in "Patience" and "Princess Ida", Rose Maybud in "Ruddigore", Elsie in "The Yeomen of the Guard", and Gianetta in "The Gondoliers". Joining in 1963, she left the company in 1967, returning briefly in 1970 as a guest artiste. For Decca she recorded the roles of Constance in "The Sorcerer", Angelina in "Trial by Jury" (with highlights from "Utopia, Ltd.", as Princess Zara), Psyche in "Princess Ida", and Phoebe in "The Yeomen of the Guard". - Joined Sadler's Wells Opera in 1969, singing 2nd Lady in "The Magic Flute".
- Later joined English National Opera where, after re-training as a mezzo-soprano, she sang Angela in "Patience" (in 1975), and in "Julietta" by Martini (in 1978). She later returned to G&S (as a contralto) as Katisha in "The Mikado" for The Musical Theatre Company at the Westminster Theatre in May 1979. After retireing she taught singing in Barrow-in-Furness.
