Evanescence have released a new video for their recent single, “Better Without You,” which appears on the rock outfit’s new album, The Bitter Truth.
Directed by Eric D. Howell, the “Better Without You” clip is an epic spectacle befitting the mighty track. Interspersed with footage of Evanescence performing the cut, the video sees Amy Lee wandering through a labyrinthian space bathed in red light, ultimately breaking down the walls that surround her with both her voice and a mic stand wielded like a battering ram.

Starring Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and set in a gorgeously ominous castle, the new gothic thriller Voice from the Stone is now out in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD from Momentum Pictures, and we caught up with the film's director, Eric D. Howell, for our latest Q&A feature, and we've also been provided with a new clip from the movie.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Eric. What attracted you to this story and made you want to bring Andrew Shaw’s adaptation of Silvio Raffo’s novel to life on the big screen?
Eric D. Howell: The script was one that literally made me want to read under a blanket with a flashlight. It had familiar gothic motifs, but told a story about love, loss, grief, and fear in a way that was completely compelling and original. Andrew is...

Even Emma Watson and Tom Hanks May Not Be Enough to Make a Mark As April Ends
The last weekend of April, and the “slower” spring movie season is ending this weekend, leading directly into the start of the lucrative summer box office next week. As has been the case in past years, the last couple weekends in April see a couple movies hoping to bring in any amount of money before the first big summer blockbuster, and other movies that will steal away their theaters. Last weekend was pretty sad, but hopefully a few of this weekend’s movies will fare better.

For Eric D. Howell, getting to direct Voice from the Stone has been a journey years in the making.
The Minnesota native has worked his way up in the business, getting his start as a crewmember in Saint Paul on films such as The Mighty Ducks and Mallrats and working lighting for fellow Minnesotan Prince.
"I didn't know enough to be intimidated by him. He kept asking me back," Howell says with a laugh of his younger days working with the late music icon.

In Voice From the Stone, Emilia Clarke's character faces a threat much different than the ones she encounters as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, and you can get a tease of what's to come in Momentum Pictures' new trailer for the atmospheric horror film.
Synopsis: "A haunting thriller set at an isolated castle in 1950s Tuscany, Voice From The Stone tells the story of Verena, a determined young nurse hired to help the mute young heir within. But the more she observes the boy, the more Verena becomes convinced he has fallen under the spell of a powerful and otherworldly persona trapped in the villa’s stone walls, one that seems to be rapidly entwining with her own.
Available in theaters in the following cities on April 28, 2017: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

It has emerged Emilia Clarke has a passion for roles in which she is brought in to help or even nurse those in need of help. Firstly in last year’s Me Before You alongside Sam Claflin now in supernatural thriller Voice from the Stone, judging from the trailer this one will send shivers down your spine.

Whilst there is a melancholy beauty set within the eerie tones of the trailer, all appears to be well at first as Clarke, who plays the hired young nurse, Verena, is brought into the fold to help a young boy come out of his self-induced silence after his mother dies. However, after a series of strange events that almost drives her insane, she becomes a victim of abduction and sinister supernatural incidents eventually showing her in a broken state.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke finds herself in horror movie hell in the creepy new thriller she stars in called The Voice in the Stone. The movie has a very gothic horror movie feel to it, and I love the old-school spooky vibe that this trailer radiates. This could actually be a solid horror movie. Here's the synopsis:

"The voice is real." Momentum Pictures has debuted a trailer for a thriller set in Tuscany titled Voice from the Stone, adapted from an Italian novel. Described as a "haunting and suspenseful romance set in 1950s Tuscany" at a 15th-century Italian castle, this Hitchcockian fairytale stars actress Emilia Clarke as Verena, a nurse who cares for a boy who has stopped speaking after the sudden death of his mother. While caring for him, she suddenly starts to hear the eerie voice of the boy's dead mother, making her wonder if she is ill as well. The cast includes Marton Csokas, Caterina Murino, Remo Girone, Lisa Gastoni, and Edward Dring. This looks like a very moody, atmospheric thriller with some sleek cinematography. Check this out. Last time Emilia Clarke got a break from fantasy and fire-spewing dragons, the actress headlined Me Before You, an admittedly soppy romantic drama in which she played Louisa Clark, a working-class carer who simply radiated happiness and infectious joy. Fast forward a year and change and the Game of Thrones stalwart is about to topline a very different drama known as Voice From the Stone.
Pitched as a “Hitchcockian fairy tale,” USA Today has today unearthed the first trailer of Eric Howell’s ghostly period drama in action. Clarke is on board as Verena, a nurse who agrees to care for young, ailing boy called Jakob, who’s left devastated following the sudden death of his mother. As Voice From the Stone unfolds, though, Jakob’s erratic behavior is enough to send shivers down the spine, after he swears blind that his mother is communicating with him through the castle walls.

Eric D. Howell’s supernatural thriller Voice from the Stone is currently doing the rounds at the ongoing Berlin Film Festival in the hope of attracting international buyers, but that hasn’t prevented studio 13 Films from offering up our first look at the project, which features Game of Thrones and Terminator: Genisys star Emilia Clarke.
In D. Howell’s ghostly adaptation, Clarke is on board to play Verena, a nurse who becomes drawn to a young, ailing boy called Jakob. Following the tragic death of his mother, Jakob becomes withdrawn to the point of total reticence, leading Verena to believe there’s a force at work beyond our understanding. The Equalizer‘s Marton Csokas will star opposite Clarke as the boy’s father, and we expect that the production will round out the cast in the coming months.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has landed another feature film movie role. Her first big screen introduction is a big one with Terminator: Genesis, in which she plays Sarah Conor. Her second movie will be a psychological thriller called Voice from the Stone.
The story is set in 1950′s Tuscany, Italy, and Clarke is taking on the role of a nurse who is "aiding a boy through the trauma of his mother’s sudden death. As she works with the troubled child, she becomes ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle." I hope the movie has that classic Italian horror movie feel to it, because those films are crazy as hell.
I'm one of those moviegoers that gets excited about movies like this. I have a blast watching films that screw with my head. I hope this project is able to pull off the insanity and freak me out.

The fourth season of "Game of Thrones" just concluded this past Sunday on HBO, so there's no better time to reveal a new project for series regular Emilia Clarke. The actress is currently busy playing Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, but she's just locked down the lead role in Voice from the Stone, a psychological thriller set in the 1950s. The film will see Clarke playing a nurse who helps a boy through the traumatic sudden death of his mother only to become ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle. Sounds like a traditional horror thriller, but this is based on the Italian novel La Voce Della Pietra. Silvio Raffo wrote the book which Deadline reports has been adapted by newcomer Andrew Shaw, and will mark the feature directorial debut of Eric D. Howell. Production will begin in November, and it's not clear if it will happen...

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has signed on to lead a 1950s-set psychological thriller titled Voice From The Stone, which will be an adaptation of Silvio Raffo’s award-winning novel, La Voce Della Pietra. The film will follow a nurse, presumably the role that Clarke will take on, who helps a young boy after his mother suddenly passes away. However, she soon becomes “ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle.”
Directing will be Eric D. Howell (making his debut) and on scripting duties is Andrew Shaw. Currently, the film is set to go in front of cameras this November in Italy. Clarke is the only confirmed cast member so far, though I imagine that we’ll be hearing more about the supporting roles in the coming months.

Great Hope Springs, the movie in which Meryl Streep plays one half of a married couple spending a week of marriage and sex therapy with a famous therapist (Steve Carell) has gone through a few possible male leads. Jeff Bridges was mentioned early on, and James Gandolfini looked like a possibility at one point. (Those were when Mike Nichols was going to direct [1], but now The Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel will make the film instead.) Tommy Lee Jones was next [2] in the casting rumor series, but now he definitively has the gig playing husband to Meryl Streep. That's a great pairing, and while the director may not be my top choice, I'm still as interested in watching these two actors trade barbs as I was when the idea first came up. The synopsis for Great Hope Springs is after the break, along with news of new gigs for Maggie Gyllenhaal and Holly Hunter.
