- Character actor and occasional director, first on stage from 1926 in youthful leading roles. In films from 1935, a mainstay of Bavarian Heimatfilms well into the 1950's, often in the role of well-to-do or gentlemanly professional men. Out of character, he played a gangster in the Edgar Wallace thriller Room 13 (1964).
- To his well-known post-war movies belong "Wozzeck" (1947), "Der Bagnosträfling" (1949)and "Affäre Dreyfus" (1959).
- The actor Richard Häussler made first experiences at the theater before he entered the film business in 1936.
- He could continue his career after the war and he was able to prove his acting abilities in popular movies.
