These teams have more in common than just being in the same division. The Baltimore Ravens boast the best defense in the NFL, in addition to the best rushing offense. On the other side of the field is the Cleveland Browns, who are third best in the league in both of those same categories. The most fun matchup might just be Browns defensive end Myle Garrett, a leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, chasing Ravens quarterback and Mvp candidate Lamar Jackson all over the field.
Odds & Analysis
The Ravens enter Sunday’s matchup as nearly a touchdown favorite, and it’s not a surprise. They boast the best rushing offense and team defense in the league and have won four straight. Cleveland, however, is no slouch and has come out on top in four of its past five contests.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, two teams on very different sides of the NFL spectrum will face off in Glendale, Arizona as the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens (5-2) will visit the last-place team in the NFC West, the 1-6 Arizona Cardinals. Baltimore comes in as winners of three of their last four led by former NFL Mvp Lamar Jackson while the Cards have lost four straight. Arizona’s starting quarterback Kyler Murray has been out with an injury all season and even though he came off of the Physically Unable to Perform list this week, he has not been activated to return. Sean "Diddy" Combs is many things: record label executive and entrepreneur, Grammy Award-winning artist and dance extraordinaire. We can add actor to that list too; he had movie roles, including in "Carlito's Way: Rise to Power" and the 2008 adaptation of "A Raisin in the Sun." But his breakout performance could've came in Oliver Stone's 1999 sports drama "Any Given Sunday."
In the movie, Al Pacino stars as Tony D'Amato, the head coach of a fictional professional football team who struggles to get his squad to the playoffs. One of his many challenges lies at the quarterback position. After his starting and backup QBs suffer injuries during the same game late in the season, Coach D'Amato must call on his third-string, a young journeyman named Willie Beaman (Jamie Foxx). Beaman shines in the spotlight, awing the crowd with his superior athleticism, agility and running speed. Before the NFL's Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton,...

Vaccination Status Denied As Factor In NFL Cuts, As Jacksonville Jaguars Walk Back Coach’s Statement
Update: The Jacksonville Jaguars have walked back a controversial statement by head coach Urban Meyer, who said that vaccine status was a “decision-maker” in the makeup of his team’s final roster.
Meyer cited the risks associated with unvaccinated players under the NFL’s Covid-19 protocols.
“Everyone was considered,” Meyer said on Tuesday via ESPN. “That was part of the [considerations such as] production, let’s start talking about this, and also is he vaccinated or not? Can I say that that was a decision-maker? It was certainly in consideration.”
The NFL Players Association said it has launched an investigation into Meyer after the remarks.
The Jaguars team issued a statement Wednesday that it claimed “clarified” the Meyer remarks, saying no player was cut based on his status.
“Availability is one of the many factors taken into consideration when making roster decisions. We have vaccinated and unvaccinated players on our roster, and no...

Sunday’s Super Bowl battle between the Kansas City Chiefs’ hot-shot Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, the NFL’s winningest quarterback of all time, highlights the wave of young QBs who are bringing sizzle to the gridiron and grabbing the attention of Madison Avenue and Hollywood.
Mahomes, 25, is going for his second consecutive Super Bowl trophy with the Chiefs. That has set up a generational test of wills between the Chiefs star and Brady, who is going for his seventh Super Bowl ring and his first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady is facing perennial retirement rumors, even as he up-ends NFL convention by playing a Super Bowl-caliber level game at the age of 43.
Mahomes, who signed a whopping $450 million 10-year contract with the Chiefs last year, and the other QBs are coming on strong as other veteran NFL stars are also likely to leave the field soon, including New...

In a rare live interview during an even more rare telecast — a Wednesday afternoon NFL football game — league commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the intensifying threat of Covid-19.
Despite dozens of positive coronavirus tests and record waves of infection sweeping the country, a pause or shortening of the NFL season is not in the cards, Goodell asserted.
“We do think it’s safe to continue,” he said during NBC’s broadcast of the Pittsburgh Steelers-Baltimore Ravens game. “Virus spread has increased in our community, so that’s a challenge for us. But we believe that the protocols that we’ve established are working. We’re going to continue to evaluate and see what improvements we can continue to make.”

After three straight weeks of ratings dips “Supermarket Sweep” steadied the shopping cart on Sunday night.
The ABC show scored a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and drew 3.3 million total viewers, a 14% ratings bump from last episode. Hosted by Leslie Jones, the show kicked off with a 1.0 rating a month ago, before losing a 0.1 ratings point each of the last three weeks. Earlier on, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” scored a 0.7 rating and just over 5 million total viewers for the Disney-owned network. Another episode of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” came in even with a 0.5 rating and just under 3 million viewers. “Card Sharks” took a smaller bite, rounding off the night with a 0.3 and 2 million viewers.

For the first time in three years, Tom Brady isn’t the top-selling player in the National Football League.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes bumped the 42-year-old Brady from the top spot this past season, cementing his status as the face of football, Sportico has learned.
Brady, a six-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots who joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent, is second on the NFL Players’ Association’s official list of top-selling players from March of last year through February. He has made a record 18 straight appearances in the top three since the Nflpa introduced the list in 2014.
The list includes sales of all officially licensed player-identified merchandise, including jerseys, trading cards, wall decals, T-shirt and bobbleheads. Nflpa licensees generated their sixth consecutive year of record sales, topping $1.9 billion.

While it’s not quite fourth down and long for broadcast networks, lackluster scripted-programming ratings and cord-cutting woes are weighing heavily on the industry’s collective consciousness. So it’s particularly good news that one broadcast mainstay seems to have regained its mojo: live football. After a bumpy year or two, the 2019 NFL regular season grabbed an average of 16.7 million TV and digital viewers, according to the league, marking 5% growth from the prior year.
Bereft of “Game of Thrones” and devoid of a successor to a scripted Sunday night gladiator match, audiences may hold that live sports in general — and the NFL in particular, with its breakout stars and fast-paced action — are the last bastion of appointment television.
“The NFL is driven by storylines, and there are so many different reasons, so many connection points for people, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender or geography,” says Cary Meyers, ESPN’s senior...

On the eve of the NFL playoffs, which kick off Saturday, the league released statistics about TV and digital viewership during the regular season, saying viewership is at a three-year high.
The season turned out to have the most tune-in of any since the 2016 campaign, with more than 182 million people sampling a game during the year. Across all networks, an average of 16.7 million viewers watched on linear and digital platforms, an increase of 5% over last year.
Digital viewership across all platforms — the NFL’s own apps and sites, mobile devices and network-affiliated digital outlets –averaged 487,000, a healthy 51% improvement over last year. Drivers of digital consumption included Amazon Prime Video carrying Thursday Night Football, the second year of Verizon’s full-season streaming availability, and ongoing migration toward streaming.

Fox’s season-finale broadcast of Thursday Night Football, which saw the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson put on a show of his own, scored a 2.6 rating and 9.33 million viewers to finish as Thursday’s top-rated and most-watched show in primetime.
Still, the Ravens’ 42-21 victory over the New York Jets, in which Ravens Qb Jackson made his claim for NFL Mvp with a five-touchdown night, took a big hit from last week’s Dallas Cowboys-Chicago Bears game, which hit season highs. As usual, though, expect adjustments to last’s night’s game in Nielsen’s final numbers.
Elsewhere in primetime, CBS finished second to Fox in both the demo and total viewers Thursday thanks to its comedy lineup and Evil, which was even. Young Sheldon paced the network despite ticking down a tenth, as did the The Unicorn. Mom was even, and Carol’s Second Act gained.

Update: Several San Francisco 49ers players have come to radio analyst Tim Ryan’s defense in the wake of insensitive racial remarks that earned him a one-game suspension.
Ryan, who normally provides color on 49ers broadcasts, was suspended for remarks that alluded to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson’s skin color providing an edge during play fakes.
Cornerback Richard Sherman, an African American, was one of those who spoke up for Ryan. While noting that Ryan made a poor choice of words, Sherman said he made a good point about the challenges of playing against Jackson.
Sherman said Ryan apologized to individuals at the 49ers team hotel.

Lamar Jackson’s debut as a member of the Baltimore Ravens flew high and not so high last night for the quarterback in the NFL Hall of Fame game’s unofficial start to a new season of football but ratings for the NBC broadcast match-up with the Chicago Bears definitely went down.
With a 4.7/9 in metered market results and a 1.8/7 in fast affiliates, the Ravens 17-16 win over the Chicago Bears in Canton, Ohio took a two-time double digit hit last night from last year. That’s a 13% decline in the early metrics and a harder 18% fall in the first round of 18-49 results from the August 3, 2017 gridiron battle between the always well watched Dallas Cowboys’ 20-18 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Which, even though the 6.50 million watched the Hall of Fame game and NBC won Thursday night, means the usually virtually meaningless first pre-season game now takes on hefty implications.
