“Michael,” the splashy forthcoming biopic about Michael Jackson from director Antoine Fuqua, has added actor Laura Harrier in a key role.
Harrier, of “BlacKkKlansman” and “Spider-man: Homecoming” fame, will portray pioneering female music executive Suzanne de Passe in the Lionsgate project.
De Passe was a creative assistant to Motown founder Berry Gordy, and is credited with convincing Gordy to sign The Jackson 5 to his label. De Passe costumed the world famous family group in early days, and later played a critical role in bringing the band and other Motown sensations to live television. She worked closely with Michael Jackson from childhood, standing by him as a teacher and mentor, helping him navigate the music business.
Harrier is a Screen Actors Guild award nominee for her work in Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman,” and also appeared in the Ryan Murphy Netflix original series “Hollywood.” She most recently starred opposite Jack Harlow in...

The Jackson 5 have found their harmony once again for the upcoming biopic “Michael” from director Antoine Fuqua and Oscar-winning producer Graham King.
After a worldwide search led filmmakers to cast Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, as the King of Pop, with 9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi as the younger Michael, fans have been eagerly waiting to see who would round out the rest of the Jackson family.
The film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, is currently in production. Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo assumes the role of family patriarch Joe Jackson with Nia Long as mother Katherine Jackson, plus Miles Teller as lawyer John Branca.
Now, the eight actors who will portray Jackson’s four brothers — who come together to form the massively popular singing group the Jackson 5 — have been revealed: Jamal R. Henderson plays Jermaine Jackson in the film’s later years, while Jayden Harville plays the younger version.

Jake Gyllenhaal was sold on making an appearance in John Mulaney’s Netflix comedy special from the minute he read the script, and the comedian’s openness to giving him free rein on the wacky character sealed the deal.
Mulaney told the story of how he cast the “Donnie Darko” star in the role of the kooky, xylophone-suit-wearing Mr. Music in “John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch” during an appearance on “The Tonight Show ” Thursday.
“Someone sent him the script of this character called Mr. Music, and Mr. Music is trying to teach the kids that you can make music anywhere, but everything he tries, he can’t make a sound,” Mulaney told host Jimmy Fallon, who was uncontrollably giggly, as usual.

In John Mulaney’s latest comedy special, a children’s program called “John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch,” a young boy named Alex says he’s the son of Marlon Jackson of the Jackson 5. Could this be true? A long-lost Jackson child we didn’t know about, nephew to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson?
TheWrap decided to investigate.
In the special — which is intended to be watched by both children And adults, mind you — Alex is asked to draw his grandparents, and he produces a startlingly realistic picture of Joe and Katherine Jackson.

The standing ovation seemed to come as a shock. At last month’s Sundance Film Festival, Wade Robson and James Safechuck were teary-eyed as they faced the applause, following the premiere screening of Leaving Neverland, an excruciatingly immersive documentary that accuses the late Michael Jackson of sexually molesting them as young boys.
The two-part, four-hour documentary was directed by Dan Reed and details the alleged abuse of two boys in the 1980s and 1990s, usually during overnight stays amid the fantasy world of Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County,...

In the decade since Michael Jackson’s death, the late singer’s estate has turned what had been a financial disaster into one of entertainment’s most lucrative properties. But now, the upcoming documentary “Leaving Neverland” threatens to upend all of that — and the estate is in full-blown damage control mode.
Directed by Dan Reed, “Leaving Neverland” was a sensation at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it was met with a standing ovation. HBO, which produced the doc with Channel 4, will air the two-part, four-hour film on Sunday, March 3, and Monday, March 4.
The doc centers on two accusers, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, now in their 30s, who recount in graphic detail how they were sexually abused by Jackson starting at very young ages. “The sexual activities are described with unnerving candor, and one’s inevitable response is to recoil in horror at Michael Jackson’s predatory sickness,...

The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff Wales played host on Saturday to an all-star musical tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Some fans were upset that this was a "for profit" venture put on by members of the Jackson family (only an "undisclosed portion of the proceeds" will go to charity). Even Janet, Marlon and Randy Jackson decided to sit the event out, and arguably the biggest act in the line-up, the Black Eyed Peas was a late cancellation.
But in addition to Latoya performing songs off of Michael's Dangerous album (oh joy!), some more established stars did perform for the crowd of roughly 50,000. Among them were Christina Aquilera, Jamie Foxx, Cee Lo Green and Ne-Yo.
Below you'll find photos of the event, some backstage portraits and several photos of Prince, 14; Paris, 13; and Michael Jr., (a.k.a "Blanket") 9.

When it came to putting together Michael, the first posthumous album of material from late King of Pop Michael Jackson, everyone was working with half a playbook. The producers of the singer's first studio album since 2001 had to figure out what the notoriously detail-oriented Jackson would want them to do with the grab bag of songs he was working on at the time of his death.
Even the artist behind the album's iconic cover, a Renaissance-painting-like mash-up of iconic images from throughout Jackson's career, was forced to go on his understanding of what Michael would have approved of.
That artist, Kadir Nelson, sat down with MTV News last week to walk us through the thicket of images on the cover and explain how he came to create the visual summary of the pop icon's solo career.

Michael Jackson’s family would encourage his children to become “performers”. The late ‘Thriller’ star’s three kids - Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket – are under the care of his mother Katherine Jackson and are already showing strong signs of the same musical talents of their famous father and his brothers, who formed the Jackson 5 when they were children. Michael’s brother Marlon Jackson revealed: “I truly believe that God blessed this family with the gift of music to make people happy all over the world. “If the children want to become performers, that’s fine with me and my mom, but they also have to get an education.” Although the children are primarily looked after by Katherine, the rest of the Jackson family are also heavily involved in their care, with Michael’s sister Janet Jackson taking a particular interest in their welfare.

Refusing to have his kids becoming a victim to consumer temptations as he did, Michael Jackson had set up an inheritance for his children, 13-year-old Prince, 12-year-old Paris and 8-year-old Blanket, in which the kids will not have control of their inheritances until they are 30 years old, TMZ reported.
Michael set up the Michael Jackson Family Trust fund in 1995 before he welcomed his kids with dermatologist nurse Debbie Rowe and signed it off in 2002. Under the trust, the kids would get 40% of his estate, while his mother Katherine Jackson, whose share will go to Michael's kids if she dies, gets another 40%. And the final 20% goes to charity.
"Michael's mother and his children were the dearest thing to him in his life, so he made sure that they would benefit when he died," a family insider said. "In truth those children will never have to want for anything and that's what Michael wished for.
