Most of us watch films but don.t read screenplays. They are odd pieces of writing because they only exist in order to become something else.

Police were called to Deion Sanders' Texas home Monday (Feb. 6) after his estranged wife Pilar claimed she was beaten by a friend of the NFL great. And to make matters weirder, Pilar claims that Deion watched the whole thing.
TMZ is reporting that a woman identified as Laura, came to see the Deion at his home. But Pilar told her she was persona non grata. After some heated words, Laura reportedly threw something at Pilar, hitting her in the eye. The publication adds Pilar tells the cops that Deion did nothing to diffuse the scuffle.
Deion explains on Twitter that Laura Jones is his aunt, and she was there "fixing my phone system and was attacked." He adds that Pilar was the aggressor, saying, "We have proof. We apologize for these weekly ignorant lies!"

The Australian screen industry is full of talented and successful women, but this doesn’t mean gender imbalance is a thing of the past. Georgina Pearson writes.
Gender equality is an age-old debate; one that’s been analysed and pulled apart countless times before. Yet as women in the Australian screen industry continue to deliver on a global stage we must dispute its relevance – is there a significant gender imbalance within the industry, or has this argument become a moot point, questioned merely as a matter of principle?
When the list of films eligible for the Australian Film Institute Awards was announced last year, AFI CEO Damian Trewhella pointed out that eight out of the 19 titles were directed by women, arguing that “in an international industry where women are still significantly under-represented, Australia is heading in the right direction.”
And the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (Astra) followed closely...

NEW YORK -- Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American and South American rights to Sarah Gavron's debut feature, Brick Lane, which centers on a young woman brought from Bangladesh to London to enter a loveless arranged marriage.
Based on Monica Ali's acclaimed 2003 novel, the film follows the evolution of plain 18-year-old Nazneen (Tannishtha Chatterjee) who lives a sheltered life with an unpleasant middle-aged husband (Satish Kaushik) in 1980s London. She stands in stark contrast to her free-spirited sister (Zafreen) until a Muslim radical (Christopher Simpson) takes her out of her shell and wins her heart.
Lane, produced by Alison Owen and Christopher Collins, is a Ruby Films production and is presented by Film4 Four, Ingenious and the U.K. Film Council's New Cinema Fund. Abi Morgan and Laura Jones adapted the screenplay.
Gavron earned a BAFTA TV Award for best new director for her 2003 BBC feature This Little Life.
The Works International's Joy Wong negotiated the deal with SPC's Michael Barker, Tom Bernard and Dylan Leiner.
