London, Sep 7 (Ians) Opening batter Alex Hales on Thursday was called up to England’s squad for the Icc Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia as a replacement for in-form batter Jonny Bairstow. Hales, 33, has also been added to England’s squad for the seven T20Is tour of Pakistan.
It also means that Hales’s three-year exile from international cricket, after last representing England in March 2019, is over. He had a failed recreational drugs test and was removed from the 2019 Odi World Cup, which England won at home.
The then-captain Eoin Morgan often cited a “complete breakdown in trust” on Hales’ exclusion from the England side.
With Morgan now retired from international cricket and Jos Buttler being the new skipper along with Jason Roy losing form rapidly and Bairstow sustaining a freak left ankle injury after slipping on a golf course last week, it has cleared the path...

Melvin (Douglas Stone) has decided to drop out of his education as an accountant and run himself an antiques store. Frustrated with where his life is headed and becoming ever increasingly sick of his overbearing and judgemental mother (Ultramax) his only escape are his dreams of becoming an author and heading down to his favourite movie theatre whenever he can to catch the latest skin flicks – in silly disguise of course! Here he develops an infatuation with the beautiful Tina Russel and just wishes that he could get the opportunity to satisfy her sexually. Just as this dreamer is giving up, he finds himself in possession of a mysterious lamp and after giving it a good rub, a beautiful Genie (Chris Jordan) appears granting him five wishes.

Shorts Program # 5: Experimental plays as part of the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase Tuesday July 11th at 5:00pm at The Tivoli Theater, 6350 Delmar Blvd.
As an experimental filmmaker, I am looking forward to seeing what my competition is. Who knows, perhaps I should have submitted my surreal film shorts. Perhaps next year!
Anyway, even looking at the opening frames on this DVD menu of films to be show at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase makes me excited that I will be in for a treat! All of the imagery looks interesting to me.
180 - Zlatko Cosic was the great filmmaker behind this first simple but colorfully interesting film: One giant rectangle consists of many smaller cubes of kinetic and colorful moving pictures. It is a moving painting—literally. With repeated viewings, the filmgoer will catch additional nuggets of eye candy. I believe that his collage...

The annual St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase is a great way to support the many local filmmakers who practice their art in our area. Cinema St. Louis, our city’s non-profit cinema-related event planning group, will present The Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase July 8-12. This is the 12th annual presentation, which serves as the area’s primary venue for films made by local artists. The Showcase screens works that were written, directed, edited, or produced by St. Louis natives or films with strong local ties. The 16 film programs that screen at the Tivoli from July 8-12 serve as the Showcase’s centerpiece. The programs range from full-length fiction features and documentaries to multi-film compilations of fiction and documentary shorts. Many programs include post-screening Q&As with filmmaker. It all ends with a closing-Night Awards Party Thursday July 12th sponsored by Stella Artois from 8 p.m. to midnight at Blueberry Hill‘s Duck Room,...

Before he made his screen debut in the 2009 biopic Notorious portraying his own father, the late rapper Christopher "Biggie" Wallace, newcomer Christopher Jordan "Cj" Wallace had no aspirations for a Hollywood career. But the acting bug hit and a call from writer-director Dan Rush followed, and within a few years Wallace, now 14, found himself playing opposite Will Ferrell in the achingly bittersweet indie drama Everything Must Go, about an alcoholic salesman struggling to cope with losing it all.
