Paris, Aug 19 (Ians) On a historic day for archery in the country, India claimed a grand double with the men’s and women’s compound teams winning gold medals in Stage 4 of the Archery World Cup Paris, on Saturday.
It was the women’s compound team that started the day on a bright note it won gold in the team competition as Parneet Kaur, Aditi Gopuchand Swami and Jyothi Surekha Vennam defeated Mexico in a rematch of their World Championship final, prevailing 234-233.
India’s memorable day then continued in the compound men’s team gold medal match as Ojas Pravin Deotale, Prathamesh Samadhan Jawkar and Abhishek Verma surprised favourites USA, 236-232 in the final.

Mumbai, Oct 19 (Ians) Jyothi Yarraji, who trains at the Odisha Reliance Foundation High Performance Centre, dipped under the 13-second mark in her 110m hurdles at the 61st National Open Athletics Championships in Bengaluru, becoming the first Indian woman hurdler to do so.

Gandhinagar, Oct 1 (Ians) Amlan Borgohain of Assam and Jyothi Yarraji of Odisha emerged as the fastest man and the fastest woman of the 36th National Games here on Saturday, winning their respective 100m races with ease.
Borgohain has a simple philosophy when it comes to running. Don’t think too much about conditions or anything. Just run fast.
The 23-year-old on Saturday did just that to stop the clock at 10.38 seconds at the Iit Gandhinagar athletics track to clinch the men’s 100m gold and win the mantle of the fastest man of Gujarat 2022.
A few minutes later, Andhra Pradesh’s Jyothi Yarraji stunned a star-studded field, including Dutee Chand and Hima Das, to win the Women’s 100m gold in a thrilling race.
The lanky hurdler, who clocked 11.51 seconds, to emerge as the Fastest Woman at the Games said that she was very relaxed ahead of the race and delighted with her victory.
