In Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Lifetime found the perfect couple to blend what the channel does best: pop culture biopics and happily ever after rom-coms. Not since six years ago with Prince William and so-called “commoner” Kate Middleton has such a ripe, real-life story presented itself for adaptation. In the case of the new couple, however, specific details about Markle’s identity add narrative spice to the princess fairy tale: She is a divorced American actress who happens to be biracial.
All of those points are brought up in “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance,” a brisk and diverting two-plus hours that captures the imagined flavor of the couple’s whirlwind romance with wit and a refreshing amount of candidness about socio-political issues. Despite the romance trappings, this is where the movie leans more into the biopic side, because Markle’s very identity is political in nature. As a...

The story behind the upcoming royal wedding sounds like the plot of a movie. In fact, it is sort of the plot of several movies out there already. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s love story may mimic so many fairy tale fictions, but Lifetime is turning things around and making a movie out of this true story in “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance.” It’s no surprise they threw this film into production in advance of the May 19 nuptials. Back in 2011, the prolific TV movie network released a movie based on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s roller coaster relationship that led them to the altar at Westminster Abbey soon after its release. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship created a media frenzy practically overnight when the news of the relationship leaked in the fall of 2016. Lifetime is tapping into the ongoing worldwide interest with a ripped-from-the-headlines small...

Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition! “Harry & Meghan: The Royal Love Story”Capitalizing on the interest in the royal romance, the cable network will be bringing the international love story to screens just in time for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May. It’s expected to cover the gamut of relative drama that has ensued since the relationship was publicized in the fall of 2016. Markle’s half-sister has been vocally criticizing the actor while Markle has been faced with racist backlash from people both within and outside the royal family and British politics. The network also aired a movie about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011, so this comes as less than surprising. Menhaj Huda...

Hocus Pocus director Kenny Ortega says the Disney Channel’s upcoming remake of the 1993 Halloween flick would be “much more fun” with the film’s original cast.
Et confirmed in September that a “new iteration” of the beloved movie was in the works, with a new cast taking over the roles of the three witch sisters originally played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.
“More power to 'em!” Ortega told Et’s Deidre Behar at The L.A. Dance Project's annual gala at their brand new space in downtown Los Angeles, California, on Saturday. “I would like to see a sequel, and I think that the fans would like to see a sequel.”
“I think it would be much more fun to bring the ladies back,” the producer, director and choreographer added. “They’re all still vital and in their prime and capable of doing so much that it would be great to see...

For years, fans of the 1993 film Hocus Pocus have been waiting for a sequel. There was even talk over the years that it could happen. Well, unfortunately, you will not be getting a sequel to the film that would reunite Bette Middler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker. No. Instead, you will be getting a Disney Channel movie remake.
I don't know if you watch those Disney Channel movies, but they don't really offer top quality entertainment. It's more of just cheap entertainment for little kids that don't care or know any better.
The movie, which chronicles what happens when three villainous witches are inadvertently resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts, is set to be written by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals), and it will be executive-produced by David Kirschner, who was a producer on the original movie.
According to Deadline, The new Hocus Pocus iteration will have a new cast and a new director.

Deadline was the first to report, adding that a new cast will be reprising the roles, including the witch sisters, initially immortalized by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker.
While the film only modest theatrical numbers upon its initial release, it soon became a cult hit with fans clamoring for a sequel in recent years. So you can imagine their dismay at learning of a remake with an entirely new cast -- good thing they had Twitter to unleash their feelings.

Beloved Halloween family movie Hocus Pocus is getting a remake courtesy of the Disney Channel, according to Deadline. The new movie – being written by Scarlett Lacey – is still in development, with original producer David Kirschner signed on.
Kenny Ortega, who directed the 1993 cult favorite, will not be involved with the new project – and neither will its original Sanderson sisters: Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker.
There has long been rumors that the original would get a sequel, with since-debunked reports in 2014 claiming that Tina Fey had signed on to produce.
