Co-composers Rachel Portman and Jon Ehrlich have only met in person once, and collaborated across the globe while scoring Hulu’s “We Were the Lucky Ones.”
Despite this, both Portman and Ehrlich said that working across continents was one of the best parts of the process. Erhlich said: “She would work on something, and then I would wake up in the morning and go to the studio and unwrap a gift. Then by the end of my day, I was handing it off to her, and she could kind of pick up where I left off. It was really a kind of passing the baton back and forth.”

We Were the Lucky Ones, based on a true story, follows a Polish Jewish family during WWII as they're split across multiple continents due to the German invasion of their country. Author Georgia Hunter opens up about her close involvement in the show's creation and her appreciation for it staying true to her family's story. A key change from the book involved setting the stage for audiences to meet the family.
Georgia Hunter's powerful and decade-spanning novel of survival makes its way to the screen with We Were the Lucky Ones. Based on the true story of Hunter's own family, the Hulu miniseries chronicles the lives of the Kurcs, a Polish Jewish family whose lives are upended when Germany invades the country in 1939, kicking off World War II. The family will find themselves scattered across the globe and struggling to help fellow Jews evade Nazi capture and reunite with one another.

Logan Lerman faces the threat of Nazis in a drastically different context in We Were the Lucky Ones. Lerman, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Amit Rahav open up about their resonating with the scripts for the Hulu show and the layers of their characters. Lerman also reflects on reuniting with Joey King for the show and his thoughts on Noah's recent streaming surge.
Logan Lerman is facing the terrors of the Nazis in a much more harrowing and true fashion in We Were the Lucky Ones. “We Were the Lucky Ones” has its warning built into the title. The Hulu series based on the book by Georgia Hunter and adapted by Erica Lipez is about how one family survived and separated during the Holocaust, all of it underscored by that title — this is what they went through, the horror they witnessed and endured, the sadness that befell them, and they were lucky.
The series kicks off in Radom, Poland before the War, with the Kurc family: Siblings Halina (Joey King), Addy (Logan Lerman), Genek (Henry Lloyd-Hughes), Jakob (Amit Rahav), and Mila (Hadas Yaron) — and their parents, Sol (Lior Ashkenazi) and Nechuma (Robin Weigert). The Kurcs are close-knit, their home echoing with overlapping voices and laughter at the holidays, and they already feel the pangs of missing Addy, who lives in Paris.

Actress Joey King, who gained major fandom with her work in ‘The Kissing Booth’ franchise, has opened up about facing anti-semitism at the age of 12 and also having trauma counselors on the sets of Holocaust series ‘We Were the Lucky Ones’ set’.
Talking about her facing anti-semitism, the 24-year-old actress said it was when she joined Instagram at age 12.
“Within the first couple months I got my first anti-Semitic remark and it would dip in terms of how frequent or how much it would happen, and it would kind of roller coaster in terms of how often I would experience it, but that was shocking when I was that age,” she said.
“Now I just expect it because anti-semitism is not the only thing I experience in terms of bullying online. So it almost feels like one of many symptoms of a grand diagnosis of horrible Internet people. I’m saddened,...

There has been no shortage of television series centering the horrors of the Holocaust. Last year alone, Netflix’s “Transatlantic” depicted a group of resistors living in Marseille, and National Geographic’s “A Small Light” offered a retelling of Anne Frank’s experience through the eyes of Miep Gies, the woman who aided the Franks during their years in hiding. Though both of these series and those like them are important, Hulu’s “We Were the Lucky Ones,” an adaptation of Georgia Hunter’s best-selling novel based on a true story, showcases something different. The show chronicles a family torn apart by war and hatred. Devastating, and profoundly moving, “We Were the Lucky Ones” illustrates the scope of World War II, the inhumanity of others and the anguish of disconnection and loss.

We Were the Lucky Ones is a limited series that has one of history’s most traumatic events as its backdrop. Based on the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Georgia Hunter, the show chronicles the saga of a European Jewish family before, during, and after World War II and, of course, the Holocaust. Starring Joey King and Logan Lerman, the series follows the Kurc family as they face the Nazi invasion of Poland and everything that comes after, hiding for their lives or struggling to survive as they are shipped off to concentration camps. The story goes on to show us what happened after the war, when the family — having survived the horrors of war and genocide — sets off on another journey, now looking to reunite with their loved ones who have been scattered across the world.

Depending on the moment, the title of Hulu’s We Were the Lucky Ones might sound like a bitter lament or a prayer of thanks, a sigh of relief or an expression of anguish. In the end, it also simply sounds true. Based on the novel by Georgia Hunter — which in turn was inspired by the actual history of her ancestors — the miniseries traces the far-flung journeys of the Kurcs, a Polish Jewish family, throughout World War II. That their paths will be harrowing is not in doubt; a sobering opening caption reminds us that “By the end of the Holocaust, 90% of Poland’s three million Jews were annihilated.”
Yet an exercise in misery this isn’t. No matter how devastating these stories get, what binds all of them together is a sense of hope — stubborn, hard-won, fainter at certain times than others but always undeniably there. So overwhelming is...

Noah's unique adaptation of the biblical tale is praised for its visuals and performances, making it worth a watch for fans of thought-provoking dramas. Rotten Tomatoes scores don't tell the whole story - Noah received mixed reviews, but its visuals and cast performances were positively recognized. Noah expands upon vague elements of the Book of Genesis to create a more detailed, dramatic narrative. Changes such as leaving Na'el behind contribute to Noah's controversy among religious audiences. Aronofsky adds embellishments like The Watchers and Zohar to visually enhance Noah's story.
Darren Aronofsky's Noah is a biblical epic that translates one of the Bible's most important stories for the big screen, though some notable embellishments were made to the source material. Released in 2014, Noah starred Russel Crowe as the titular shipwright, navigating the woes of good and evil, divine judgment, and familial relationships in a developing world. The standout cast of Noah helped carry its relatively simple Old Testament story into success, even if the film made some dramatic changes to the original parable.
Many of director Darren Aronofsky's changes to Noah's original story are the result of the Bible's brevity. The Old Testament could...

James Gunn confirmed the Bat Family's involvement in the upcoming Dcu Batman reboot, hinting at Nightwing's appearance. Actors like Logan Lerman, Kyle Allen, and Wolfgang Novogratz could successfully portray Nightwing in the movie. Dylan O'Brien, the most popular fancast for Nightwing, has the necessary skills and looks to bring out the character from the page to the screen.
Nightwing is one of the best characters in DC Comics, and there are some truly amazing choices to play Dick Grayson in The Brave and the Bold, the Batman reboot movie for James Gunn's DC Universe, and beyond. When announcing the Dcu Batman reboot, Gunn offered some interesting The Brave and the Bold details that teased Nightwing's likely involvement with the movie. The director confirmed that Bat-Family members will play a role in the movie, and given how Damian Wayne — the film's Robin — is the fourth male Robin, Dick Grayson should be around.

Fury is a fictional narrative inspired by real WWII tank crews, paying homage to their untold stories and experiences. David Ayer's commitment to authenticity shines through in Fury, with detailed sets and real WWII veterans influencing the film. The psychology of a tank crew during WWII is explored in Fury, with actors undergoing intense training to bond and immerse themselves in their roles.
Before going on to direct the first iteration of the Dcu's Suicide Squad — and mercilessly slate it online following its poor reception — director David Ayer brought together an all-star cast of against-the-grain soldiers on a life-threatening mission that can only end in peril, sounds surprisingly familiar. 2014's Fury saw Brad Pitt portray Don 'Wardaddy' Collier, a US Army Staff Sergeant in charge of the Sherman Tank 'Fury'. For fans of World War II period dramas and the original "Percy Jackson" films, I have incredible news. The limited series "We Were the Lucky Ones" is coming to Disney's newly-purchased Hulu very soon, and it looks like it's going to be worth the wait.

Like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson is a beloved literary hero for readers of any age. The Percy Jackson book series was first brought to the screen in an adaptation directed by Chris Columbus and starring Logan Lerman as Percy. Now, Disney has adapted Percy Jackson's world into a TV series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and it is a faithful adaption to the YA novels written by Rick Riordan. The series includes an all-star cast and is being renewed for more seasons. Each book is represented by a season, and the first season starts with the first book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. The series stars Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover.

Fury is a brutal movie about the horrors of war that follows the American tank Fury and its crew during World War II.
