Everybody has that one movie that they've watched so many times, "knowing it by heart" doesn't even begin to describe the relationship. It's the film that you drop everything to watch when it comes on TV, or that you bought and wore out the VHS copy, and then the DVD and the Blu-Ray... and you're still happy to watch it again on Netflix. Maybe it all started with what your family liked to watch (or what they hated) or what ended up in your stocking at holiday time, or what you fell in love with at the theater. Below, the HitFix editorial staff shares its most-watched movies of all time. What is yours? Tell us in the comments! Donna Dickens "Titanic" I was that fourteen year old girl. The one that saw “Titanic” in theaters multiple times (my personal tally was seven.) I bought the VHS two-pack. I recorded the...

Last night, Fleetwood Mac kicked off their reunion tour. No, not last year's reunion. Or those other ones. This stint actually features Christine McVie for the first time since 1998, the singer/keyboardist being the last piece of the puzzle that brings together one of the most iconic lineups in Fleetwood Mac history, circa "Rumours." The band is apparently planning on recording another album together, though it can't be expected until next year at the earliest. But this makes us think through almost two dozen studio albums, starting with 1968's (first) self-titled set through 2003's "Say You Will." (Many of those are pre-Lindsey Buckingham/Stevie Nicks, but give that first album, "English Rose," and "Then Play On" a spin, if you only know "Rumours" or haven't given the rest a fair shake.) Three HitFix teamers share our thoughts on the Mac Attack, including the ultimate showdown: McVie or Nicks? And...

All the Warwick Davis Leprechaun movies are coming out in a new Blu Ray combo pack. The commentary tracks offer some memories of my two contributions to the guilty pleasure franchise. Here are a few more.
I grew up enjoying the absurdist humor of the Monty Python’s Flying Circus TV series. So why not Absurdist Cinema? I loved the 1941 Hellzapoppin’, an early iconic example. The concept of the mid ’90’s Leprechaun franchise was proudly ludicrous – pint sized Jason/Freddy/Chucky amalgam with an Irish twist terrorizes and kills most of the supporting cast. But he was never really scary. I decided to embrace the absurd and make it as much fun as the formula allowed.
Blue Rider Pictures, for whom I had made Night Of The Demons 2, were asked by Trimark to produce the third and, at that stage, the intended last in the series. Send the little guy to Vegas,...

In case you hadn't heard, Hollywood would like everyone to forget the summer of 2014 ever happened. Sure, there were some notable exceptions such as "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Lucy," "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "22 Jump Street," but for the most part it was a summer of disappointment. The laundry list of films that did not live up to their expectations is cringeworthy this season. "Amazing Spider-Man 2" (the better sequel that wasn't), "Edge of Tomorrow" (the great thriller that couldn't overcome a weak opening), "Tammy" (the end of Melissa McCarthy's $100 million run), "A Million Ways to Die in the West" (Seth McFarlane is not a leading man), "Sex Tape" (bad in and out of bed), "Million Dollar Arm" (should have thrown in September), "Deliver Us From Evil" (not enough of "The Conjuring") and "The Giver" (needed bigger teen stars), among others, just didn't cut it. Now, in the last...

[As you probably already know, starting on Thursday, August 21, Fxx is running the Every Simpsons Ever Marathon, running through all 552 episodes of "The Simpsons," plus "The Simpsons Movie." To aid in your viewing process, Team HitFix is selecting our favorite episodes from each day, plus an episode or two that you can skip and use as a bathroom or nap break.] Day 7 of Fxx's Every Simpsons Ever Marathon goes from "Simpsons Tall Tales" (the end of Season 12) through to "The President Wore Pearls" (the beginning of Season 15). I must admit: The "Simpsons" fans on Team HitFix are beginning to drop like flies. Josh Lasser's fandom carried through the Tomacco episode, but no further. David Lewis wrote a blurb here for "Simpsons Tall Tales," the episode he says ended his active support of the show. Fortunately, Sepinwall and I had a pair of favorites apiece and Katie Hasty also had a preferred episode, so we've got some recommendations for you, plus a couple episodes you can avoid. [And while I only wrote up two episodes I love, there are at least 10 more that I'll be happy to rewatch if I'm around and another 10 more that I'd enjoy having on in the background. Possibly more. This may be the worst period for "The Simpsons" thus far, but I'll always maintain that middling-to-poor "Simpsons" is still more rewatchable than nearly anything else on TV.] Check out our recommendations for Day 7 and chime in with your own favorites... To aid in your viewing process, Team HitFix is selecting our favorite episodes from each day, plus an episode or two that you can skip and use as a bathroom or nap break.] When folks complain that "The Simpsons" hasn't been good for 15 years, we normally mock them, but as we hit Day 5 of FX's Every Simpsons Marathon, even we have to admit that there is a small shift in quality. There are still great episodes in this period, which goes from "The Canine Mutiny" through "Maximum Homerdrive," but a couple of our intrepid recommenders only took one episode apiece for this period. And we have a trio of "skippable" episodes at the end of the article. Expect the ratio of classic-to-skippable episodes to even out in the last week of the Marathon. And some of the episodes in this period are kinda polarizing. Dave Lewis made "Homer's Enemy" one of this recommendations (and I'd be inclined to agree), but Frank Grimes hater Alan Sepinwall would have written a counterpoint had he had the time. Check out our recommendations for Day...

It's possible that it can't equal the heights of Day 2 and Day 3, but there's a depth to the episodes between "Round Springfield" and "Grade School Confidential" that no other day can top. How good is this day? I even like the big Abe episode, "Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in 'The Curse of the Flying Hellfish.'" How good is this day? We didn't even consider "Homer vs. the Eighteenth Amendment" and it includes the immortal line, "To alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems." And we considered, but didn't write up "Homer's Phobia," with John Waters in one of the show's best guest vocal turns. And nobody even mentioned "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)" even though Homer's Guatemalan insanity pepper hallucination is an aesthetic highlight.

To aid in your viewing process, Team HitFix is selecting our favorite episodes from each day, plus an episode or two that you can skip and use as a bathroom or nap break.] Somehow, despite including two different clip shows, Day 3 of Fxx's Every Simpsons Ever Marathon leads us deep into the show's Golden Years, as we finish Season 4, go through Season 5 and most of Season 6, spanning from "So It's Come to This: A Simpsons Clip Show" through "The PTA Disbands." For the second straight day, we had no trouble picking two favorites apiece and we left out a slew of great episodes including Krusty's Kancellation, Bart's rise to "I Didn't Do It!" fame, James Woods' stint at the Kwik-e-Mart, Homer's trip into space and Lisa's attempts to design a new Malibu Stacy. [The image accompanying this story is from "Marge in Chains" which, if I'm being honest, didn't come close to making our list, but it's the only official image Fxx was able to provide for the episodes airing on Saturday.] My own greatest regret is that I couldn't pick "Treehouse of Horror V," which features "The Shinning" and "Time and Punishment," which are two of my five "Treehouse" segments. However, I stand by the two episodes I chose. And guess what? Day 4 was even Harder, choosing-wise. But that's tomorrow.

To aid in your viewing process, Team HitFix is selecting our favorite episodes from each day, plus an episode or two that you can skip and use as a bathroom or nap break.] Picking episodes for Day 1 of Fxx's Every Simpsons Ever Marathon was relatively easy. Yes, "The Simpsons" was quite fine right off the bat and it only improved as the show moved into its second season, but the fans here at HitFix were able to cobble together a clear list of favorites without any hugely disappointing exclusions. Day 2 was far more difficult. We have five participants picking episodes here and we each snagged two favorites for the day, which stretches from "Bart's Dog Gets an F" through to "Last Exit to Springfield," or from Episode 29 through Episode 76. I think we represented many of the best episodes from this fertile early period, but if I had been about to select four or five, I could have easily done it. My greatest regret is that we didn't have room for "Selma's Choice," which has possibly my favorite opening of the entire series --...

On Thursday (August 21) morning at 10 a.m. Et, Fxx is going to begin its Every Simpsons Ever Marathon, a showcase for 552 episodes of "The Simpsons," plus "The Simpsons Movie." That's a lot of episodes and if you're a "Simpsons" neophyte, you may be intimidated by the sheer avalanche of yellow-tinged animation. Fortunately, we're here to help. The individual fans on Team HitFix are weighing in on one or two episodes per day until even we may collapse under the avalanche of comedic greatness. And, since we know that nobody can watch 48 episodes per day and remain sane, we'll also recommend an episode or two that you might be able to skip each day if you need to shower, take a quick nap or show love to members of your family. Check out our recommendations and chime in with your own favorites... Day One of the marathon begins with "Simpsons Roasting...

Record Store Day 2014 is here (April 19) and this year loads of new releases specifically crafted for the day. This seventh annual event marks when independent and specialty music stores open their doors and drop these limited, rare and inspired releases, on vinyl, CD and a bevy of other formats. It helps bolster sales for these smaller shops, as well as raise awareness of new and lasting artists. Below, HitFix editors pondered the question, "If you had $50 just to spend on 2014 Record Store Day purchases, what would you pick up?" Granted, some sets would be more than $50, some are hard to find... just as some are worth searching for and paying top dollar for, to collectors. So just play along. Read more about Rsd here. This week, Scream Factory gave all those Kevin Tenney fans out there what they’ve been waiting for by the way of stellar presentations of two of his beloved cult classics on Blu-ray: Witchboard and Night of the Demons. Once again, Scream Factory did a wonderful job of shining the spotlight on two more great horror films that many of us grew up enjoying.
Review: Witchboard Blu-ray
Witchboard, a movie I last saw back in the 90’s when it was still only available on VHS, isn’t by any means the scariest work from Tenney’s career, but there’s a lot to admire about his oddball supernatural story where a super-sexy Tawny Kitaen gets a little too handsy with her friend’s Ouija board.
The story begins when Brandon Sinclair (Stephen Nichols) trots out his trusty ol’ Ouija (pronounced wee-jaa as Brandon so fondly likes to correct people) board...

Maggie Gallagher thinks the Pope and his new ideas are exhilarating, and perhaps gay rights activists should practice what he preaches. “What I find most exhilarating about Pope Francis, is the possibility that we can reach out to those with whom we disagree without surrendering principle. I will say I have not found that true generally. I have found the gay rights community — the activists anyway, not the ordinary folk — is mostly asking for one thing: Agree, or be judged a hateful bigot. But when you are in the fray of battle, it is easy to become fragile and to lose sight of possibilities. Maybe the pope can do things I cannot imagine. Imagine that!” But not her. No.

Hey everyone! Jeff here with a very special post… This one isn’t a movie review (at least not in the classic sense), nor is it in any way related to a podcast or a film festival… Nope, this post is my contribution to the Liberal Dead Staff’s “Movies To Watch Around Halloween” series.
If you can’t tell, October is my favorite month of the year; not just because it is when the Toronto After Dark Film Festival takes place, but because it’s home to my favorite holiday – Halloween – and it’s the one month out of the year where “normal” society seems to be okay with all things horror-related. But, then again, I’m sure you all understand that sentiment, so I’m likely preaching to the choir here… As such, I won’t waste any time explaining my reason for jumping in on the fun of list-making.
