Homicide: New York, a true-crime docuseries from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, is set to debut on the streamer on March 20. It will be followed by Homicide: Los Angeles later this year. Both installments consist of five episodes each.
Homicide, from Wolf Entertainment and Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s Alfred Street Industries, tells the stories of a city’s most notorious murder cases by following the detectives and prosecutors who cracked them.

Homicide is executive produced by Wolf, Tom Thayer, the head of the non-scripted arm of Wolf Entertainment who was instrumental in getting the project together, Lipsitz, Cutforth, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe and Adam Kassen.

Over two decades, Bravo’s Top Chef has introduced viewers to nearly 300 food luminaries — making and breaking careers with what the culinary community has come to regard as the most prestigious (or at least the most taxing) cooking competition.
THR spent months speaking with dozens of the executives, producers, talent and chefs who’ve worked on the show over its 20-season run, and the result is a definitive oral history of the landmark reality competition. The cakes are then presented before a panel of celebrity judges along with an array of actual objects to see if the judges can tell which of them is in fact cake. If the bakers are able to successfully fool the judges, they win a cash prize.
Mikey Day hosts the series and is expected to return for Season 2. Season 2 will also feature a new lineup of contestants and guest judges. Judges in Season 1 included Karamo Brown, Finesse Mitchell, Fortune Feimster, and Loni Love among several others.

Exclusive: Nailed It! and Hell’s Kitchen production group Tinopolis has made its latest peace offer to a group of angry former producers, who are owed £50 million ($70 million) by the company after a controversial financial restructuring.
Around 15 producers, including Magical Elves founders Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, are considering taking legal action after Tinopolis wiped out the value of their loan notes in March. These loan notes were essentially IOUs promised to producers at the point they sold their company to Tinopolis.
Tinopolis said the financial restructuring was critical to securing the future of the business after it was imperiled by the coronavirus crisis. “The damage caused by Covid has been significant and a complete recovery will not be easy,” executive chair Ron Jones said in April.

Exclusive: Hell’s Kitchen studio Tinopolis may be hit with a class-action-style lawsuit and other backlash after an incandescent group of former producers were left out of pocket to the tune of £50 million ($70 million) as a result of a controversial financial restructuring.
Tinopolis is one of Britain’s largest production groups, owning 16 companies in the UK and U.S. including A. Smith & Co. Productions, which makes Hell’s Kitchen and Ninja Warrior, and Premier League soccer producer Sunset+Vine. But Tinopolis said it was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, during which revenue was dented by canceled sports events and “severe” filming restrictions in California, where it makes shows like the Rob Lowe-fronted Mental Samurai for Fox.
Tinopolis executive chairman Ron Jones launched a rescue mission that culminated in a complex financial restructuring last week. But the maneuver has stoked fury among around 15 producers who were once part of the group.

Tinopolis has completed a major financial restructuring and recapitalization after being badly hit by the coronavirus crisis — but the move has reportedly angered producers who will stand to lose money after selling their business to the Hell’s Kitchen production group.
UK-headquartered Tinopolis announced the refinancing on Monday afternoon, which will involve a “significant” injection of cash from banks, institutional funders, and management. As part of the changes, a majority shareholding in Tinopolis will be sold to a new company, which will be owned by the investors.
Tinopolis added that a non-trading subsidiary, in which loan notes (a type of I Owe You) owned by current and former management are held, will be closed. This will wipe out tens of millions of pounds owed to the founders of companies who sold their production companies to Tinopolis.
Soon after Tinopolis announced the financial restructuring, the Financial Times published a deeply reported piece on the matter,...

“Project Runway” is switching production companies, with Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz’s new venture, Alfred Street Industries, taking over for their former company, Magical Elves, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
The fashion competition ended its 18th season in March and has not formally been renewed by Bravo for a 19th, though casting for the new season began in February and an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap the Season 19 is in the very early stages at the cable channel — having been stalled by the pandemic, like almost every other TV series — but that Alfred Street Industries will be producing the new episodes once they can begin production.
Cutforth and Lipsitz produced “Project Runway” through Magical Elves from 2004 to 2009 during its first turn on Bravo, with the duo and their production company leaving the fashion competition series when it relocated to Lifetime. During the Lifetime years, the show was produced by The Weinstein Company and Bunim/Murray.

This will truly be the year of the “Semi-Emmys.”
That term was thrown around by Television Academy executives back in 2001, when the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, followed by the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, forced the Primetime Emmys to be postponed twice. The ceremony back then came with a little less pomp and circumstance but was ultimately still a normal-looking awards show that took place in a theater, with dressed-up attendees and the usual kudocast formula. But this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all bets are off — the only thing for certain is that the TV Academy and ABC (this year’s Emmy broadcaster) still plan to hold some sort of Emmy ceremony as scheduled on Sept. 20.
As regulations evolve over public gatherings — and the tolerance level of people to leave their homes fluctuates — it’s still a bit difficult to gauge what might be acceptable for the Emmys to attempt three months from now.

In a world filled with a seemingly never ending stream of bad news about reality, Netflix has offered up some good news about its reality-television programming: The streaming service has renewed both “Love Is Blind” and “The Circle” for two more seasons apiece, picked up “Rhythm + Flow” for Season 2, and ordered new series “Sparking Joy With Marie Kondo.”
Though none of these shows are currently in production, much like every other TV series that has had to halt or delay filming due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, online casting and auditions are open for the upcoming seasons of “Love Is Blind,” “The Circle” and “Rhythm + Flow.” The second seasons of those three series, plus Season 1 of “Tidying Up” guru Kondo’s new show are expected to launch in 2021.

Just a few years ago streaming services didn’t even produce reality series, but this year Netflix landed five Emmy nominations in four reality/competition categories and sparked buzz (and viewer joy) that may encourage linear networks to take more chances in the increasingly crowded reality space.
“With the amount of shows we’ve rolled out collectively, it felt inevitable that with many more programs to offer, the voters would embrace some of the new programs,” says Netflix vice president of nonfiction series and comedy specials Brandon Riegg. He notes the streamer leans tonally into more positive, aspirational and escapist reality programming. “A lot of what we’ve talked about is there’s so much great content out there, we do need to differentiate ourselves. I think having that mentality allows for these projects to bubble up that might feel unconventional but it fits within the spectrum of what we’re trying to program to.
