An open letter condemning Jonathan Glazer’s Zone of Interest Oscars acceptance speech has been signed by more than 450 Jewish Hollywood professionals.
The group consists of actors, executives, directors, creators, producers and representatives denouncing Glazer’s controversial comments made when accepting the Academy Award for best international film on March 10.
“We refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people, and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination,” the letter reads.
In his acceptance at the 2024 Oscars, Glazer read from a prepared speech to thank his partners and then make a statement addressing the current Israel-Gaza conflict.
“All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present, not to say, ‘Look what they did then’; rather, ‘what we do now,’” Glazer said. “Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst.

One of the most iconic science fiction action franchises is "Predator," which began with the eponymous movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987. While "Predator" is regarded as an action classic, attempts to follow-up on its success have since had considerably more mixed results. The series has seen a number of sequels, revivals, and crossovers with the "Alien" franchise, with varying levels of critical and commercial reception. However, for every "Predator" movie that has seen the light of day, there are plenty of projects that were canceled or altered significantly.
From failed attempts to bring Schwarzenegger back in the fold to star in additional installments or sequel plans shelved by disappointing box office, there are lots of discarded "Predator" movies. This includes the studio shuffling pitches and filmmakers in their hopes to keep the franchise relevant and recapture the 1987 movie's magic. Here's a roster of "Predator" movies that were once in development but ultimately never made,...

Predator franchise producer John Davis has said that the future is wide open for this series after the successful release of Prey through the Hulu streaming service. The possibilities for future films seem limitless, so we decided to compile some of them together for a list we’re calling Predator Franchise: What’s Next After Prey?
Prey Sequel
Prey director Dan Trachtenberg left the door wide open for a direct follow-up. Artwork during the end credits shows more Predator ships arriving in the Comanche Nation, and the tribe still has possession of the pistol we saw in the hands of a Predator (and Danny Glover) in Predator 2. So the Predators have to retrieve that pistol somehow. While it could be cool to see a sequel to Prey, it would also be quite unusual for the Predator franchise, because we have never seen the lead from one entry return for a second Predator encounter.

10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg voiced his disappointment when the news broke that he was developing the latest Predator reboot after revealing that he’d been working on the project for several years already and had managed to keep it under wraps. We don’t know too much about it just yet, but the first rumored plot details have indicated that the movie will be a period piece, focusing on a female Native American warrior who ends up going toe-to-toe with the extraterrestrial trophy hunters.
That’s certainly a fresh and interesting approach to the material, especially when the modern day setting has been done to death already, most recently in Shane Black’s The Predator, which was the highest-grossing installment in the main series but didn’t turn much of a profit after also being handed the largest budget.

Out of all the various sequels, spinoffs, crossovers and reboots that followed in the wake of John McTiernan’s classic original, Nimrod Antal’s Predators is arguably the best. While Predator 2 is entertaining in its own way, and Shane Black’s The Predator showed flashes of brilliance that are too few and far between, the 2010 Robert Rodriguez production is a satisfyingly old school genre movie with no airs or graces.
It takes an ensemble cast of wildly disparate characters, drops them in the middle of an alien jungle and forces them to fight for survival. That’s the entire plot in a nutshell, and that no-frills approach is one of the reasons why Predators has remained a firm cult favorite. Despite turning a sizeable profit after making $127 million at the box office on a $40 million budget and earning a further $32 million in DVD and Blu-Ray sales from the United States alone,...

The Predator franchise has never managed to recapture the magic of John McTiernan’s classic 1987 original, which is hardly surprising when it still ranks as one of the greatest action movies ever made, boasting plenty of iconic one-liners and set pieces along with what might be the most testosterone-drenched cast ever assembled.

David Goyer looks set to bring He-Man back to the big screen...
The Masters of the Universe movie is still in development, and apparently much closer to production than we thought. The movie currently has a December 18th 2019 release date.
This one has had a revolving door of directors and writers. The most recent director to exit was McG, and his exit was followed by the entrance of David Goyer as writer.
But now it appears that Goyer is also directing, as per a report in The Wrap. Goyer is, at the very least, a good choice to write this. His incredible attention to the worldbuilding of Krypton in Man Of Steel makes me wonder what he could do with Eternia. The last feature he directed was 2009's The Unborn, and he previously helmed Blade: Trinity.

Sometimes, a Hollywood production slate can be like a line of dominoes – it just takes a nudge at one end to get the whole lot moving. Writer-director-producer Joe Carnahan faced some scheduling challenges when his Death Wish re-make rolled into production without him – but now that his producing job on Wheelman for Netflix has borne highly anticipated fruit, another long-gestating film is regaining some lost momentum – and it is called Five Against A Bullet.
The action film has been championed by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura for a number of years, and originated with a script by Alex Litvak (Predators). Joe Carnahan was hired in 2014 to direct and re-write that script – but little has been heard of it since. Five Against A Bullet tells the story of a Mexican politician who hires five hard-nosed bodyguards to provide him with security after his father is murdered by a drug cartel, ahead of a particularly contentious election.

Looks like Sony’s planned live-action take on the classic animated series and Hasbro toy line is finally gaining some momentum, as Deadline report that McG (Terminator: Salvation, This Means War, Charlies Angels) is in talks to take a seat in the director’s chair of Masters Of The Universe.
The cartoon remains popular to this day and there are numerous spin-offs, comics, books and toys available that still sell very well, so a big screen outing for He-Man and his pals should do pretty good business… potentially. After all, we did have that disastrous 1987 movie starring Dolph Lungdren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor, which has since emerged as something of a campy cult favorite but was a box office bomb at the time.
Sony has been trying to get this movie up and running for a while now, with numerous writers and directors attached over the years.

For a few years now, Hollywood has been trying to reboot "Masters Of The Universe," and make the 1987 version with Dolph Lundgren a distant memory. Back in 2012, Jon M. Chu ("G.I. Joe: Retaliation") was tapped to direct, but left a little while later. Then in 2014, a shortlist of directors emerged for the project including Mike Cahill (“Another Earth”), Jeff Wadlow ("Kick-Ass 2"), Chris McKay (“The Lego Batman Movie”), and Harald Zwart (“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones"), but not much movement happened on that. However, the project now has someone at the helm, and it's not much more exciting than any of those names. Sony's planned big screen reboot of Masters Of The Universe may be about to take a notable step forward, as news lands that McG is in talks to direct the movie.
McG's last film was the disappointing Kevin Costner vehicle Three Days To Kill, but he's made his name off the back of Terminator: Salvation and two Charlie's Angels features.
Deadline reports that he's now in talks with Sony about taking on the director's chair for the new Masters Of The Universe. The thinking is that the studio can build a Transformers-style franchise if it gets the first movie right.

According to Deadline, McG (This Means War, Terminator: Salvation, Charlies Angels) is in talks to direct Sony's big-screen reboot of Masters of The Universe. The studio has been trying to get this one off the ground for years, with several different writers and directors attached at various stages. There was a previous 1987 movie starring Dolph Lungdren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor, but that was... not very good. McG will also oversee a rewrite of the latest script by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch, while Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are on board as producers. The story focuses on He-Man, "a prince who transforms into a warrior and becomes the last hope for a magical world that has been ravaged by the sinister Skeletor." Does this have any hope of being good? Sound off below.

McG ("Charlie's Angels," "Terminator Salvation") is in talks to potentially direct the "Masters Of The Universe" reboot at Sony Pictures, Escape Artists and Franklin Entertainment.
The toys and famous cartoon series follows He-Man, a prince who transforms into a warrior and becomes the last hope for a magical world that has been ravaged by the sinister Skeletor.
The property was previously adapted into a live-action feature in 1987 by Cannon Films with Dolph Lungdren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor.
Attempts have been made over the years to revive it, but the film picked up steam thanks to a script by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch entitled "Grayskull," a title that can no longer be used. McG will oversee a re-write of that script.
Little has changed in the three years since "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon Chu was said to be in talks for the gig, that obviously didn't pan out.

Sony’s Masters Of The Universe remake has been simmering away for years now on the back burner, forgotten in favor of flashier contemporary material (22 Jump Street, we’re talking about you.) The last month, however, has seen practically a typhoon of information arrive online about the project courtesy of Columbia Pictures Senior Vice President of Production, DeVon Franklin.
After a good badgering on Twitter, the Svp responded back on Christmas Eve with a photo snapshot of the script title sheet. Then, just this past weekend, fans prodded Franklin for further information, which prompted the following response:

With Blood, Guts, Bullets and Octane, Narc, Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team and The Grey on his resume, writer-director Joe Carnahan has certainly built his career on badass protagonists who fit traditional ideas of masculinity, which makes him a perfect fit for his next project - Five Against a Bullet, which Sony described recently as being in the spirit of The Wild Bunch and The Magnificent Seven.
The flick, which Carnahan will both direct and rewrite, working off an original script from Alex Litvak, follows a group of five bodyguards recruited to keep a Mexican politician alive during a controversial election after the politician’s father is brutally killed by a major drug cartel.
