In Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Lindsay Lohan delivered the captivating larger-than-life persona that skyrocketed her to fame as a child actor, then teen star. She often played mature, wise-beyond-their-years characters like Cady Heron in Mean Girls, and the angsty Anna Coleman in Freaky Friday. Beginning with The Parent Trap in 1998, Lohan became an integral part of many childhoods of the 90s and 2000s, and starred in coming-of-age films that spawned countless hits. It might not be as celebrated or remembered, but Lohan is just as iconic in a role that finally allowed her to act her age, in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

“John Tucker Must Die” is being resurrected.
The beloved high school rom-com that had a Shakespearean revenge premise is getting the delayed-sequel treatment, according to one the original film’s stars Arielle Kebbel. She’ll not just reprise her role of Carrie in this one, but also produce.
“John Tucker Must Die” centered around a philandering popular jock (Jesse Metcalfe) whose series of girlfriends devise a plan to turn the heartbreak tables around on him. Enter: Brittany Snow. The 2006 film also starred Sophia Bush, Penn Badgley, and the singer Ashanti. It was directed by Betty Thomas.
John Tucker, who definitely ain’t dead yet, may even get a redemption arc in this one.
“I’ve heard rumors of this script — there’s a script,” Metcalfe said earlier this week during a panel at Epic Cons Chicago (via E! Online). “Apparently, it’s amazing.”

Two new biopics about 20th-century Black icons entered the home viewing charts this week: “Bob Marley: One Love” (Paramount), the film about the legendary reggae artist nearing $100 million in theaters, and “Shirley” (Netflix), about the first Black Congresswoman and one-time presidential candidate, led newcomers in a week that mostly repeated top titles.
“One Love” is #1 at Fandango, which ranks by revenue. The VOD platform won’t be able to provide its whole top 10 until Monday, but the company confirms that placement. Somewhat surprisingly, “One Love” is #3 at iTunes, behind “Anyone but You” (Sony) and “The Beekeeper” (Lionsgate), now both at $5.99 to rent after earlier strong PVOD performances at $19.99.
Both Fandango and Google Play chart by transactions. But normally a film with the success in theaters that “Bob Marley” had would debut at #1. It’s unclear, with data beyond relative rankings absent, whether this might be just because the reduced price...

McKenna Grace reprises her lead role as Phoebe in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which led the weekend box office with $45 million. At 17 she is not yet a household name, but she laid some groundwork early: At age six she had a supporting role on the Disney Channel sitcom “Crash & Bernstein.” Later she received an Emmy nomination for her work in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and portrayed the younger selves for the leads in movies like “I, Tonya” and “Captain Marvel.”
Her “Ghostbusters” co-star is Finn Wolfhard, who made his debut at 13 in CW’s “Supernatural” before starring in “Stranger Things” and “It.” Zendaya, star of “Dune: Part Two,” got her start as a Disney Channel regular. Her co-star, Oscar-nominated Austin Butler, cut his teeth at Nickelodeon.

The Ides of March were marked this year by a three-way race among high profile filmmakers – Peter Farrelly, Doug Liman and Guy Ritchie – with original streaming film and TV series debuts across Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. But the sleeper success story of the week belonged to Netflix’s Lindsay Lohan rom com movie “Irish Wish.”
Ritchie made a splashy debut on March 7 with Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” an eight-episode TV heist drama delivered in the director’s signature style. In its second week, “Gentlemen” had solid hold with a modest 30% decline to 1.3 billion minutes watched during the March 15-21 frame, according to original streaming content ratings calculated by Luminate.

Lohan's career took a dramatic halt in 2007 due to personal issues, but she is making a comeback with Netflix movies like Irish Wish. Despite mixed critical reviews, Lohan's performance in Irish Wish is receiving positive feedback, showing potential for a career revival. With a rumored return to Disney for a Freaky Friday sequel and interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Lohan's comeback seems promising.

In Irish Wish, a new Netflix rom-com, a bride-to-be is dumped by her lover on wedding day — but, with steely determination, she quickly closes in on a handsome replacement. Consistent with rom-com protocol, her “Irish wish” is realized.
Going back to When Harry Met Sally…, there’s always been something cozy and likable about the rom-com genre. No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence did well last year as a feature and now is up for a sequel.
And Anyone but You has surprised rom-com experts. Its numbers are impressive – 2.8 billion hashtag views on TikTok and a worldwide box office that has surpassed $200 million. The data reminds some of a throwback to the Bridget Jones cycle.
To be sure, rom-coms have become formulaic, especially the Netflix model. But a case could be made that they now emerge as a positive social resource now.
“The Gen Z-ers need prods of positivity,” observes one psychologist.

Fans and film audiences watched in horror and sadness as the actress, once dubbed an American sweetheart with a promising career and future, walked in and out of rehab centers and jailhouses.

Lohan's rom-com Irish Wish highlights her charm, despite a formulaic plot and awkward dialogue. One of Lindsay Lohan's best films is The Parent Trap — her first-ever feature and rom-com. Lohan and Parent Trap director Nancy Meyers should reunite for a rom-com, because they clearly make a winning team.
Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix rom-com, Irish Wish, proves why a reunion between the actor and one iconic director from her past must happen — and soon. Several years ago, Lohan made a successful return to acting after inking a two-movie deal with Netflix. The star's first rom-com, Falling for Christmas, became the most-watched holiday movie of 2022. Although the flick received lukewarm reviews, critics seemed to agree on one thing: Lohan's undeniable charm hadn't faded since her 1998 breakthrough as a 10-year-old child actor. Similarly, Lohan is Irish Wish's best asset.

Lindsay Lohan's Netflix rom-com "Irish Wish" marks her return to the genre after signing a deal with Netflix. Saint Brigid, the inspiration for a character in "Irish Wish," is a real Irish saint associated with miracles. "Irish Wish" inaccurately portrays Ireland but uses these mistakes to drive the plot, including Saint Brigid as a wish maker.
Irish Wish sees Lindsay Lohan’s Maddie making a wish that ends up coming true thanks to Saint Brigid, who is inspired by a real-life Irish saint but with some key changes. After a couple of years with projects that fell under the radar, Lindsay Lohan has been slowly but surely making her comeback to rom-coms thanks to Netflix. It started with the Christmas movie Falling Christmas in 2022, after which Lohan signed a deal with Netflix to star in two more rom-coms. The first one is Irish Wish, directed by Janeen Damian with a story by Kirsten Hansen.

Oscar-winning films were denied a theatrical victory lap, grossing less than $1 million total last weekend. They found gold at home, where titles like “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” ranked high on both VOD and on streaming.
Two $19.99 PVOD titles lead the VOD charts. “Anyone but You” (Sony) remains #1 at iTunes and Google, while the just-released “Madame Web” is #1 at Fandango. “Anyone” is #5 at Fandango, while “Madame Web,” released last Friday, has yet to be listed at Google Play, which always lags a few days.
Oscar titles otherwise dominated. Five films, all with rentals between $4.99 and $6.99 (and all but one also streaming), took 12 of 30 positions on three VOD charts. “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” (Searchlight) swept the field.
On two charts were winners “American Fiction” (Amazon MGM), “Anatomy of a Fall” (Neon), and “The Zone of Interest” (A24). “The Beekeeper” (Amazon MGM), still at $19.99, and “Wonka” (WB), now reduced to $5.99, round out the...

Romance, humor, and enjoyable story make Irish Wish a fun watch despite inaccurate Irish culture representation. Glaring errors like wrong Guinness glasses and unrealistic dating app portrayals are hard to overlook. Lohan shines in a light-hearted rom-com, but the film's flawed storytelling and lack of authenticity disappoint.
The latest Lindsay Lohan Netflix rom-com Irish Wish presented a questionable representation of Ireland and was chock-full of hilarious errors about the Irish countryside, culture, and cuisine. While Irish Wish, like Lohan’s previous holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas, may have felt like harmless, mindless, escapism, it acted as another all too common simplification of the Irish way of life that made it look like Irish people were a few hundred years behind the rest of the world. As Maddie found love at the Cliffs of Moher, any Irish viewer could not help but notice all the glaring errors.

Irish Wish, despite a predictable plot, showcases Ireland's beauty with iconic locations like Killruddery House and the Cliffs of Moher. Lindsay Lohan's rom-com was also filmed at The Clarence Hotel, which is owned by U2's Bono and The Edge. Director Janeen Damian captures the Emerald Isle's charm in Irish Wish, but feared viewers would think it looked fake because of the one-of-a-kind greenery.
Netflix's latest Hallmark-style romance has viewers wondering where Irish Wish was filmed — and if it was shot on location in Ireland. Directed by Janeen Damian, Irish Wish is Lindsay Lohan’s second Netflix rom-com to date, following her much-watched but poorly reviewed Falling for Christmas. While Lohan's return to the small screen in a St. Patrick's Day-appropriate romantic comedy is as equally flawed as her last Netflix movie, the actor's charisma has turned the flick into a surprise chart-topping hit for the streamer. Irish Wish, Lindsay Lohan's new Netflix rom-com, closely resembles 27 Dresses, both receiving low critical scores. Both movies share similarities in plot, characters, and romantic conflicts, leading to their negative reception. Irish Wish quickly gained popularity on Netflix but faced criticism for clichés, weak script, and undeveloped characters.
Despite being an original story, Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix movie Irish Wish is way too similar to a 16-year-old rom-com that didn’t do well with critics. After a couple of projects that fell under the radar, Lindsay Lohan has been making a comeback to rom-coms, beginning with the Netflix Christmas movie Falling for Christmas. Lohan later made a deal with Netflix to star in two more movies, beginning with Irish Wish. Directed by Janeen Damian and written by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish introduces viewers to Maddie (Lohan), a writer and editor to famous author Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos).

Lindsay Lohan’s journey back to the spotlight through Netflix’s rom-com lineup hits a lukewarm note with ‘Irish Wish’, a film that reteams her with ‘Falling for Christmas’ director Janeen Damian. Despite the anticipation surrounding Lohan’s comeback, this St. Patrick’s Day release struggles to sparkle amidst the lush Irish landscapes it showcases. In ‘Irish Wish’, Lohan portrays Maddie, a timid book editor caught in a magical love triangle. The fantasy elements and romantic entanglements aim to enchant but end up feeling like reheated leftovers from better films. ‘Falling for Christmas’, another Damian-directed feature, offered a glimpse of Lohan’s potential in her

“Abbott Elementary” star Lisa Ann Walter shared with People that she’d be up for revisiting her 1998 version of the classic “Parent Trap,” telling the outlet, “Yes, absolutely.” She was only too happy to speak about her “Parent Trap” costar, Lindsay Lohan, at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday.
“I would love to go back for another version of it — or if [Lohan] wants to come on to our show, I’d love that, too,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Walter has discussed bringing Lohan onto the hit ABC sitcom. In January, she told Entertainment Weekly that the younger actress could play a relative. “I guess we’d have to make her a relative since we’re both redheads — since I’m a ‘redhead,’ and she actually is,” Walter explained.
In February, Walter brought up the possibility of reviving her “Parent Trap” character again, this time at the SAG Awards.

St. Patrick’s Day is a time to celebrate Irish culture, history, and of course, to have a bit of fun! To those unfamiliar, March 17th marks the traditional death date of St. Patrick (Ireland’s patron saint). It used to be a religious day to remember him and how Christianity spread in Ireland.

The day is celebrated beyond Ireland as a way to embrace Irish culture. This day offers people a chance to enjoy traditional music, dancing, food, and drinks. Also, wearing green is a big part of it since it’s linked with Ireland.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride — unless, of course, your best friend gets engaged to the love of your life, you make a spontaneous wish for true love, and then magically wake up as the bride-to-be. That’s the pickle in which Lindsay Lohan finds herself in the upcoming romantic comedy Irish Wish.
Directed by Janeen Damian (Falling for Christmas), produced by Brad Krevoy and Michael Damian, and written by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish follows shy book editor Maddie Kelly (Lohan) on a supernatural, romantic journey of self-discovery. “She’s been ghostwriting for the writer she works for and she’s hopelessly in love with him, and she’s expecting him to love her back,” Lohan tells Tudum. But when reciprocation proves elusive, she takes matters into her own hands — only to find that romantic fantasies don’t always hold up to the harsh light of reality.

An Irish coffee is made with whisky and cream. An Irish goodbye is when someone leaves a gathering unnoticed. The Irish stew mixes root vegetables with either lamb or mutton. With her latest Netflix romance, director Janeen Damian aims to add yet another concept to popular notions of Irishness: the Irish wish. Now, will it catch? Unlikely.
The titular wish in Irish Wish is made by Maddie (Lindsay Lohan), an American book editor besotted with Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos), a pompous Irish writer whose latest book became a worldwide success, thanks to Maddie’s uncredited penmanship. Because such love stories rarely go to plan, just as Maddie is about to profess her feelings, Paul locks eyes with the editor’s bubbly childhood best friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan), and sparks fly.

Irish Wish marks Lindsay Lohan’s second romantic comedy with Netflix. Signed to a multi-picture deal, she’ll have at least one more, Our Little Secret, expected later this year. The first film, Falling For Christmas, had some charm simply for being set during Christmas. But it played it so safe. It didn’t take any chances, and seemed hesitant to go for anything fun. Unfortunately, Irish Wish closely follows suit.
Irish Wish Plot
Lohan plays Maddie, an book editor. She has recently finished working on a book with charming author Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos). Over their time working together, Maddie has fallen in love with Paul, but has not been able to muster the courage to tell him. On the night of the book release, she decides to go for it. Irish Wish is an hour and a half long and takes the audience through the cliched route every romantic film follows, and this article will attempt to navigate the story of Maddie and James and how they find their way back to each other.

Irish Wish is a Netflix romantic comedy movie starring Lindsay Lohan. With Ed Speleers and Alexander Vlahos.
You know those films where a girl wants to get married, the jokes lack punch and the imagery and characters seem like they were plucked from a greeting card? “Irish Wish” is one of those, although it carries a certain degree of irony and the appeal of seeing our favorite redhead, Lindsay Lohan, back in action.
This is one of those films that, thanks to God or some black hole, you are not likely to remember.
Irish Wish The Plot

The season of love and romance has gone, and the summer has kicked in in full form. It is time for summer blockbusters to hit the theaters as audiences gear up for holidays and vacations. It does not make sense to release a cliched romantic comedy at this point when no one is interested in watching another story of a man and woman meeting and falling in love. Irish Wish, directed by Janeen Damian, is a Netflix original film that was released on March 15, 2024.
This one-hour and thirty-minute film is about Madeline ‘Maddy’ Kelly, who works as a book editor and is in love with her friend and author Paul Kennedy. Unbeknownst to anyone, Maddy is the ghostwriter who has written, molded, and polished Paul’s latest book, and Paul is the one taking credit for its success.
Maddy couldn’t see anything wrong in this arrangement because of her undying love for him.

The star’s creep back to mainstream movies needs expediting with another junky Netflix offering that feels beneath her talent
The curse of auburn-haired American women heading to Ireland for terrible magic-themed romcoms continues, 14 years after Amy Adams took an unfortunate vacation in the detestable Leap Year (a film that even her co-star Matthew Goode generously referred to as “turgid” within weeks of its release). There’s less at stake here – Adams was a two-time Oscar nominee leading her first romantic comedy – but we’re left in a similarly unremarkable place, a persuasive tourism ad masquerading as a real movie.
That might have sounded like a big enough get for star Lindsay Lohan a few years ago, when she was still trying to break her way out of Hollywood jail. A mixture of bad film choices, bad life decisions and bad behaviour left her an uninsurable pariah, even if she...

Lindsay Lohan stars in the Netflix rom-com Irish Wish, filled with magical elements and a love triangle. Despite awkward dialogue and magical interference, the leads' chemistry shines in the central romance. The supporting characters lacks depth, but Lohan's return to comedy is entertaining and fun.
Fresh off her buzzy cameo in this year's Mean Girls musical remake, Lindsay Lohan continues her return to the screen with another Netflix rom-com that could double as a Hallmark feature. Whereas 2022's Falling for Christmas found Lohan grappling with amnesia and holiday cheer, the Janeen Damian-directed Irish Wish saddles her with magical whimsy and two potential suitors, complete with an impending wedding as the backdrop. If you've been looking forward to this movie (as I was), then you're bound to have at least some fun. Anyone already apprehensive of it, though, will likely not be swayed.
