Fans of “The Walking Dead” by now are pretty used to the brutality of the show, with so many major characters being killed over the years. But nothing that has come before on “The Walking Dead” could fully prepare us for the emotional devastation that came at the end of this past Sunday’s episode — the next-to-last episode of season 9.
While maybe not as overtly severe as the season 7 premiere in which Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) beat Abraham and Glenn to death with his baseball bat, it certainly beat that episode in terms of quantity — this episode saw ten protagonist characters murdered and their heads placed on spikes.
In a sequence ripped nearly straight from the pages of the “Walking Dead” comics, Alpha (Samantha Morton) and her Whisperers managed to capture Daryl (Norman Reedus), Michonne...

KNBC-TV Los Angeles took home the top newscast prizes Saturday at the 54th annual Golden Mike Awards honoring Southern California radio and TV news outlets. KNBC took the awards for best news broadcast (30 minutes or less) for its 11 p.m. report, anchored by Paul Moyer and Colleen Williams, and best daytime newscast (any length) for its 5-7 a.m. "Today in L.A". block, anchored by Chris Schauble and Kelly Mack. KNBC also was recognized for live coverage of a breaking news story for its coverage of last year's train derailment in Commerce, Calif., and the NBC O&O tied with KCBS-TV Los Angeles for the win in the investigative reporting category.
