Makeup design doesn’t always mean prosthetics or extremes — that’s why the Emmy Awards smartly single out contemporary makeup design as its own category. But too often, those more immediately arresting designs are the ones that get all the attention. Not anymore. Join IndieWire in celebrating the makeup artists creating subtle, character-specific work for contemporary shows.
In “The Morning Show,” viewers get a glimpse of the glamorous and grueling nature of producing national morning news shows through fictional Uba network anchors Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon).
Season 3 of the Apple TV+ drama sees Uba anchors and executives in multiple new locations beyond their home base of New York City, from Texas to the Hamptons to Montana (and even space!). These environments impacted the work of makeup department head Cindy Williams in unexpected ways.

Following his 2015 Emmy win for the final season of “Mad Men,” Jon Hamm took a large step back from TV stardom in order to beef up his film resume with titles such as “Baby Driver,” “Richard Jewell,” and “Top Gun: Maverick.” Now that he has made a splashy return to the small screen by playing new roles on “Fargo” and “The Morning Show” and reprising one on “Good Omens,” his Emmy nominations total could instantly rise from 16 to 19. If all of his possible 2024 bids come to fruition, he will be only the fourth person and second man to ever compete for three acting Emmys at once.
Hamm’s string of recent TV acting gigs began last July when he returned for season two Prime Video’s “Good Omens” as supporting character Gabriel – a humanoid version of the biblical archangel. He then fulfilled the new role of ambitious tech billionaire Paul Marks...

Having trouble predicting who will win Best Drama Actress at the 2024 Emmy Awards? Let’s consult Gold Derby’s Emmy Experts! These savvy pundits from major media outlets have chimed in with their first set of predictions, and they say the trophy will go to Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”). The other potential nominees at this early stage are Emma Stone (“The Curse”), Imelda Staunton (“The Crown”), Juliette Binoche (“The New Look”), Rosario Dawson (“Ahsoka”) and Carrie Coon (“The Gilded Age”) — but that could all change in the coming months.
As of this writing, four out of our nine Emmy Experts predict a victory for Aniston: Clayton Davis (Variety), Jazz Tangcay (Variety), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby) and Ray Richmond (Gold Derby). She plays journalist Alex Levy who, during Season 3 of Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show,” begins a romantic relationship with tech billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm). This would be...

When Charlotte Stoudt was approached to take over as showrunner of Apple TV+’s hit “The Morning Show” in Season 3, she couldn’t resist the challenge. “I wasn’t sure I could do it, so I had to try,” she tells Variety, which will honor Stoudt with its showrunner award at the Scad TVfest in Atlanta on Feb. 9.
The latest season of “The Morning Show,” which aired last fall, continued to dial up the drama as Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) discovered that her brother was involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection — and covered it up, putting her life and career in jeopardy. Alex (Jennifer Aniston) started a relationship with billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), who was in line to acquire the Uba network in a deal orchestrated by CEO Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup).
As is “The Morning Show” formula, all of this was going on while real-life matters — including the overturning of Roe v.

Jon Hamm stopped by The Tonight Show to discuss his role in the upcoming Mean Girls movie and took the opportunity to showcase his impressive dramatic acting skills. Host Jimmy Fallon challenged the actor to recount a few popular Christmas carols in his best theatrical tone after mentioning Hamm’s recent Golden Globe nod for Fargo.
In the clip, the pair took turns randomly selecting a card with carol lyrics and then interpreting them dramatically. Hamm kicked things off with “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” which took a depressing turn.

Ambition paired with jealousy can be a dangerous cocktail. Especially when gender expectations are thrown into the mix.
Prestige offerings, from “Fair Play” and “Oppenheimer” to “Past Lives” and “Lessons in Chemistry,” have mined that tricky terrain this year. “Maestro” and the latest seasons of female-led “Julia” and “The Morning Show” have tackled it as well.
And while men suffer the slings and arrows of jealousy in several high-profile Oscar contenders, women arguably experience more fallout from it than their male counterparts. This goes for female characters who are ambitious themselves or those partnered with men who suck all the air out of the room, as in “Oppenheimer” and “Maestro.”

If you’ve turned on a television in 2023, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered a male tech billionaire with a penchant for breaking the rules. On “Succession,” there was Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), the Swedish maverick who rendered the titular question moot by swallowing Waystar Royco whole. “The Morning Show” featured Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), the aerospace magnate who flirted with both Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy and acquiring her employer. FX’s “A Murder at the End of the World” included Andy Ronson (Clive Owen), the mysterious genius whose Icelandic retreat takes a deadly turn.
All these characters are composites, with elements of multiple real-life oligarchs with an outsized influence on world affairs. Matsson has shades of Daniel Ek, Scandinavia’s most famous entrepreneur and the fellow proprietor of a streaming service; Marks using a morning show to promote his privately run rocket launch directly invokes Michael Strahan...

“We knew this season was different.”
That’s how “The Morning Show” star and executive producer Reese Witherspoon begins Variety’s conversation about the third season of the Apple TV+ series. Co-star (and fellow executive producer) Jennifer Aniston adds, “It had a different shape to it.”
In their first interview after the SAG-AFTRA strike — and the day of the Critics’ Choice nominations — Witherspoon and Aniston dissect Season 3’s wild twists and turns, which include a trip to space with Jon Hamm’s billionaire character Paul Marks, as well as a Jan. 6 insurrection storyline.
The two have known each other for more than 20 years, and as Aniston puts it: “We’re partners. We’re friends. We’re girlfriends, and we share all sorts of heartbreaks in life and love and everything.” To that end, when she begins crying while speaking about the death of her “Friends” co-star Matthew Perry, Witherspoon immediately grabs Aniston’s hand,...

When Apple TV+ launched on November 1, 2019, there were reservations about it because who needed another streaming service?
It seemed like another venture by the tech giant, Apple, to squeeze its customers the last dollars in their pockets as nothing cheap comes from them.
However, the launch surprised many when the service was cheaper than all others in the same industry, and here's the kicker: the shows were actually good.
The streamer hit the mark with its scripted launch dramas that boasted a stellar cast of respectable actors, and the stories told were some of the best of the past ten years.
The launch slate consisted of three top-tier dramas: For All Mankind, See, and The Morning Show.
These shows were peak television with ingenuity, great production value, and, most importantly, great stories.

The Morning Show wrapped its third season Nov. 8 — a moment showrunner and executive producer Charlotte Stoudt admits was an emotional one for members of the creative team, who gathered to watch the season finale at Hollywood’s Linwood Dunn Theater. “It’s really thrilling to watch the show with an audience,” said Stoudt. “It’s not the finale until people see it. I’m all choked up.”
Stoudt — who boarded the Apple TV+ drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon as anchors Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, respectively, for its most recent season — was joined after the screening by nine of the show’s executive producers and artisans to reflect on pushing the show’s characters into more vulnerable territory and the joys of working with the talented A-list actors they have at their disposal.

Jon Hamm and Shawn Ryan will team up to adapt the “American Hostage” podcast into a live-action TV series.
The “Mad Men” Emmy winner will reprise his narrative role from the podcast with Ryan, who has produced CBS’ “Swat” and Netflix’s “The Night Agent,” who will produce, a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
Sony describes “American Hostage” as a “psychological thriller that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker, Tony Kiritsis, demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.”

After cutting four episodes of “The Morning Show’s” debut season, Carole Kravetz Aykanian wasn’t able to return to the editing room for the second season. But she was back behind the monitor for the third installment of the hit Apple TV+ series — which just concluded its 10-episode run on Nov. 8 — and excited to dive right back into the world of the topical drama.
“[It was] delicious!” she exclaims during a recent webchat with Gold Derby (watch the full exclusive video interview above). “It’s a show that I’ve really enjoyed working on. The actors strike is over, and news has emerged that a biopic of Elon Musk, directed by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, is in the works. The movie from A24 is to be based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Musk.
So the guessing game is on: Who would best capture the essence of the mercurial, meme-loving tech mogul on the big screen?
It won’t surprise you to learn that the internet has already chewed over this question. In a recent Reddit thread, commenters’ top-voted casting picks for Musk were: Nicolas Cage, Rami Malek, Robert Downey Jr. and Jesse Eisenberg (the last being a troll’s pick: Eisenberg starred as Musk rival Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network”).
Other suggestions from sundry corners of the web have included Brendan Fraser (who incidentally starred in Aronofsky’s “The Whale”); Matt LeBlanc of “Friends” fame; Scottish-American actor John Barrowman; Kevin Durand; and Matthew Broderick.

When The Morning Show started its journey four years ago, the world was a different place. Covid hadn’t happened yet, and the “MeToo movement” had just started to receive deserving attention. At a time like that, the story of a morning show anchor waking up to the breaking news of her co-anchor’s alleged sexual misconduct resonated so well with the audience. What further helped was the fact that these two people were being played by two sitcom stalwarts, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell. Of course, celebrating Carell only for his most iconic role, Michael Scott from The Office, would be unfair to the actor and the kind of talent he possesses.
It takes a lot of guts to play a character like Mitch Kessler, especially at a time like that. Carell not only did so with panache, he actually delved deep into the characters’ psyche and played it...

Note: The following story contains spoilers from “The Morning Show” Season 3 finale.
Even Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup), the king of chaos theory, couldn’t have predicted the rollercoaster “Morning Show” Season 3 finale. Many moves were made, both solid and uncertain, by Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), Laura Peterson (Julianna Margulies) and Paul Marks (Jon Hamm).
Turns out Bradley was right about Paul Marks, even before he confirmed her suspicions by attempting to silence her on air by threatening to out her big bad secret. He even knew that Laura had searched the hack database to discover that Bradley covered up her brother’s assault of a police officer at the Capitol and that she didn’t report the integrity-compromising news. After Cory tried to convince Bradley that Paul leaked the piece in the Vault that cast Cory as Bradley’s groomer, she figured out that Paul had her surveilled,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details for the Season 3 finale of The Morning Show.
Uba may never be the same after Season 3 of The Morning Show.
Wednesday’s finale brought the hammer down on Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), a tech mogul who had been trying to take over the media company. Despite all of Cory’s (Billy Crudup) attempts to intercept any naysayers, it was Alex who figured out a way to put a stop to the sale of Uba to Hyperion.
You might be thinking, Alex? But hasn’t she been Team Paul for a majority of the season? Didn’t she just take offense when Bradley (Reese Witherspoon) told her she thought Paul was shady? Well, yes. But all that changes when Alex pays a visit to Bradley, who is spiraling after resigning from Uba on air and having a run-in with Paul where he alludes to the...

Firstly, a big shout out to Mark Duplass, who has been constantly posting about mental health awareness on Instagram while candidly talking about his own struggle. Several weeks ago, I complained about how his character, executive producer Chip Black, got pretty much sidelined in the latest season of Apple TV’s The Morning Show. Well, I should probably retract that complaint after the latest episode, which also happens to be the season finale. Not that Duplass had a lot of screen time in it, but his impact was felt throughout. And in an uncharacteristically restrained season finale, Chip is the only one who got to scream and drop a galore of curse words, which is a huge deal.
It is sort of funny how the latest seasons of two big-ticket shows (the other one being HBO’s Succession) based their stories on huge corporate deals which are about to change everything.

Things are not looking good for Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) and Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) in an exclusive first look at the Season 3 finale of “The Morning Show.”
Episode 9 ended with Cory being accused of grooming Bradley, in an article from the gossip rag The Vault that featured a leaked photo of him helping her back to her hotel room while drunk. The clip shows him desperately knocking on Bradley’s door in hopes of talking to her about the situation.
A defeated Bradley — who quit her job at Uba’s evening news desk, live on the air, before the end of Episode 9 — shows up behind the glass pane at the door and faintly asks Cory to leaver her alone.
“Bradley! Bradley! Hey, listen I completely understand why you’d be upset with me. Obviously, I’ve got a lot of explaining to do,” Cory says at the beginning of the clip.

One thing you gotta give Bradley Jackson: She was right to freak out.
The maverick news anchor played by Reese Witherspoon on “The Morning Show” has been off-kilter since Season 3 premiered on September 13, and for good reason; not only was she at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, but her brother Cal (Joe Tippett) was one of the insurrectionists and assaulted a police officer.
Because this is “The Morning Show,” nothing is ever enough. Bradley had to be at the center of history, and she had to have a deeply personal conflict of interest. Despite the number of people storming the Capitol that day, she had to run into her brother, coincidence be damned, he had to hit a police officer, and there had to be video evidence of everything to make matters so much worse.
But Bradley Jackson doesn’t do things by half. Why settle for personal entanglement in matters of criminal prosecution?...

This article contains spoilers for The Morning Show season 3 episode 9.
If you’ve been watching The Morning Show in the past two months, you already know that season 3 is a trip. But if you haven’t, you might want to start. Although the series began four years ago as a sort of prestige drama, attempting to tackle serious issues like the #MeToo movement and cancel culture, by season number three, it’s pretty much left those ambitions behind to embrace its soapy and sensational nature for maximum effect. And one of the wildest twists of this season — and trust me, there’s a plethora of them — comes even before things totally go off the rails and blow up in an uproarious finale.
The biggest guest star the series got to join its regular cast this year is Jon Hamm, playing tech-billionaire Paul Marks, among other newcomers like Nicole Beharie and Tig Notaro.

Picking up from exactly where they left off last week, Apple TV’s The Morning Show returns with a deliciously dramatic, extremely eventual penultimate episode of the season, which sets up the course for an explosive finale. Filled with nail-biting tension, a lot of scheming and screaming, the surprise return of an old face, and Cory Ellison understandably losing his marbles, this episode is basically everything The Morning Show fans love to see in the show. Let us take a closer look.
Spoiler Ahead

With three more episodes left, Apple TV’s The Morning Show returns this week with a very typical episode. Given how the show left us last week with as many as three story arcs hanging in the balance, it was quite expected, frankly. And for the most part, the episode works out. There are things that you have probably seen coming for a while, and then there are some wild surprises. Let us sink our teeth into everything without further ado.

Paul Marks’ looming acquisition of Uba has more consequences for everyone at the network by the day in an exclusive clip from “The Morning Show” Season 3.
Following Episode 7, titled “Strict Scrutiny,” in which Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) met Cory Ellison’s (Billy Cruddup) mother, Uba talent glammed up for a fashion show and Roe v. Wade got overturned, Cory goes for Alex Levy’s (Jennifer Aniston) jugular in this Episode 8 clip from the Apple TV+ drama series.
“You never cease to surprise me, Alex, you are on the verge of getting everything you ever wanted out of this place, power in your own right and you choose instead to be the girlfriend, that plus one,” Cory says in a confrontation with Alex in her office. “And that’s not me talking, that is sadly the patriarchal cesspool that we live in. [This story contains spoilers from The Morning Show season three, episode seven, “Strict Scrutiny.”]
Much of The Morning Show‘s seventh episode centers around network news host Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) joining her boss Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) on a tense visit to his mother’s house outside of the city. Cory’s mother, played by Lindsay Duncan, is a firebrand in her own right, and Cory pays her a rare personal visit in hopes of curbing her political influence with the DOJ to his advantage amid the potential sale of their network, Uba, to billionaire tech titan Paul Marks (Jon Hamm).
“It was a proud moment for women everywhere when you told the world on live TV that you had an abortion,” Martha Ellison (Duncan) tells Bradley. And the compliment is twofold for the Apple series audience: It’s a reminder that Bradley is a pioneer for women’s rights — she fearlessly ignited a...

I think Billy Crudup outshining everyone else has become quite the norm for Apple TV’s The Morning Show by now. Despite starring big names like Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell, and now John Hamm, Crudup has always been the best thing about The Morning Show, and the latest episode is another profound example of that. I am not sure if the show is still considered by the likes of the Emmys’, but this should probably be the episode that Crudup submits for himself. With how last week’s episode ended, a lot happening in this one was a given. But the show played it rather subtly here, instead of opting for the usual all-hell-breaking loose approach. That’s kind of a surprise, given I kind of complained about its lack of subtlety just last week. Anyway, let’s get into it.

[This story contains spoilers from the sixth episode of The Morning Show season three, “The Stanford Student.”]
The stars of The Morning Show constantly make controversial choices. That’s what makes them relatable, according to the creative team behind the Apple TV+ series, who had promised eyebrow-raising decisions to come from their starring protagonists — played by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon — in the currently airing third season.
And following last week’s 2020 flashback reveal that Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson buried evidence around the Jan. 6 insurrection, the sixth episode in the media drama placed Aniston’s Alex Levy in the hot seat as she decides to blur ethical lines — once again — when it comes to her personal relationships.
Alex famously had an intimate relationship with her disgraced former morning show co-anchor, Mitch Kessler, played by Steve Carell. Mitch, who was fired from the show within the show, also titled The Morning Show, over sexual assault, nearly cost Alex her career:...

Jon Hamm’s Paul Marks, who burst into “The Morning Show” scene in Season 3, wasn’t inspired by just one tech mogul or finance billionaire, but he is certainly “an amalgamation” of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and other figures, according to executive producer Michael Ellenberg.
Marks — whom Cory Ellison (Billy Cruddup) courted professionally for a network-saving deal in which Marks acquires Uba — ranges from Jeff Bezos-level wealth and power, with his Hyperion One rocket and other space exploration endeavors (like Bezos’ Blue Origin), to Elon Musk-level shrewdness and tech surveillance background.
Ellenberg sees past the black and white into the gray area surrounding Marks, especially in Episode 6 when some dirt about him resurfaces as Alex (Jennifer Aniston) plans to interview him on her streaming series “Alex Unfiltered.”
“There’s no shortage of tech and finance billionaires who are taking swings inside traditional media, streaming, social media, etc.,” Ellenberg told TheWrap.

Oh, Alex.
After being embroiled in constant scandal throughout the first two seasons, Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) has spent Season 3 of “The Morning Show” on a moral high ground, from blowing off a glitzy broadcast from outer space in order to report on abortion rights in Texas to helping Chris (Nicole Beharie) stand up to the racism of network board president Cybil (Holland Taylor). But then Paul Marks happens.
Episode 6, “The Stanford Student,” sees Alex interview Paul (Jon Hamm), the tech billionaire attempting to buy the network, on her show in an attempt to unearth his past and investigate whether she and her colleagues will be able to maintain their journalistic independence under his ownership. Subtlety is not a quality I’d associate with Apple TV’s The Morning Show. I never had a complaint about that, as the show works thanks to its hyper-melodrama, but when you are handling a story about credit stealing that led to a suicide attempt, some amount of sensitivity is probably needed. Not that the latest episode is any less entertaining than usual, but the approach it takes with this story doesn’t sit right with me. However, that’s just a personal opinion, and a recap article is not exactly the place to share my own viewpoints. But since I am doing it already, I should also mention that it is really frustrating to see this show continuing to portray Alex Levy as this messiah in the current season, and The Morning Show Episode 6 was no exception, sadly.

When you think about it, the big revelation on this week’s The Morning Show makes perfect sense. Of Course Hal was dumb enough to get so caught up in anti-Biden sentiment that he stormed the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Let us start with a token of appreciation for British-Canadian artist Matt Maltese and his song “As the World Caves In”. There are chances of you coming across the more popular cover of the song by artist Sarah Cothran, who rose to fame thanks to covering a lot of popular tunes on TikTok. The Morning Show uses Sarah’s version throughout its latest episode in such a manner that the song works as a part of the narrative itself. As you are bound to search for it after finishing the episode and Google is going to show you the name of Sarah Cothran as the creator, I feel it is my responsibility to let you know the name of the original artist. Sarah’s version is fantastic, though, and fits right into the world of The Morning Show.

“The Morning Show” is back for Season 3 on Apple TV+, introducing new faces to its star-studded cast. Co-produced by Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, the drama series promises new frontiers for the harrowed Uba news network, which has struggled from the stains of its past with Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) and the toxic culture he promoted. Returning power players include Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson, Jennifer Aniston’s Alex Levy, Billy Crudup’s Cory Ellison, Karen Pittman’s Mia Jordan and more.
One new face is tech titan Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), who promises all kinds of shakeups and challenges for Uba. Mark Duplass’ Chip Black, Nestor Carbonell’s Yanko Flores, Greta Lee’s Stella Bak and other staple characters at Uba will experience their own microcosmic shifts as a result of Ellison’s bromance with Paul Marks.

After last week’s satisfying, wish-fulfilling episode, it’s only fear to expect The Morning Show to deliver something dark and herowing this week. Adhering to that, the show delivered exactly that: an hour of captivating drama where the good guys try to outweigh the bad but mostly fail. Although it is hard to distinguish between good and bad in this show, you know what I mean. Billy Crudup, inarguably the show’s best performer, gets his biggest opportunity to showcase his talent this season, and he doesn’t let it go wasted, unsurprisingly. It is a big party day at Cory Land, and everyone at Uba is gearing up for it. Not that all of them are particularly excited to attend the party, but given that it is a party thrown by the CEO, making your presence felt is sort of mandatory, after all.

It’s funny that after the ugliness of Uba’s history got out, Cory wanted to refocus on doing the news, not being the news.
On The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 1, being the news was right up there on his list, as they had an entire media blitz surrounding sending someone into orbit on a formerly untested manned rocket.
As they say, be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.
What happened on the aptly titled "White Noise" was different, though.
After Uba’s data was breached and the studio was effectively held hostage for a short time, revelations began circling amongst the staff. It was only a matter of time before it got outside of Uba.
These weren’t just any accusations, either. It was highly probable, if perhaps not provable by legal definitions, that decisions were made based on race, and the results weren’t pretty.

Imagine your white company head making a casually racist comment about you that questions both your ability and credibility for the job you do, and you get the opportunity to confront them about it in front of the whole world! Something this picture perfect probably wouldn’t happen that easily in our world, but in the world of The Morning Show, things like this do happen. The show often takes a stance regarding certain issues, and it is always very clear about them. Sure, The Morning Show thrives on drama, and the latest episode in particular is a profound example of that, but the drama that happens at Uba is why we love watching this show, right?

The Morning Show‘s Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) is working on cutting a deal with billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm) in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek from the September 20 episode, “White Noise.” In the segment, above, Paul says, “You’re welcome, Cory.” What exactly is Cory supposed to thank Paul for? Well, that’s the question a coy Cory asks before Paul responds, “for boosting your stock price. That tends to happen with companies I’m rumored to be acquiring.” While the deal outline is vague, Cory is rather responsive to the loaded statement, saying, “It’s more than a rumor.” (Credit: Apple TV+) “That’s news,” Paul answers surprised. But Cory’s not done with the reveals. “Well, here’s some more news. Your original offer works for me at the price you first pitched. Let’s get this done,” he declares, hinting at things to come as...

We’re halfway through September, which means the most entertaining show on TV is back: Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show.”
The Emmy-winning drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon returned this week for its 10-episode third season, which picks up two years after the events of the Season 2 finale. Naturally, this means big changes are happening, not just at the fictional network within the show, which is struggling after launching a streaming service right as the pandemic hit the U.S. (the series loves its “ripped-from-the-headlines” approach to storytelling), but for the actual show as well. Emmy winner Jon Hamm joins the cast as tech billionaire Paul Marks, who takes an interest in Uba (and perhaps a little bit more), while Nicole Beharie portrays new “Morning Show” anchor Chris Hunter. Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the first two episodes of The Morning Show Season 3.
It’s been two years — in real life and in the Apple TV+ series — since Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) signed off of The Morning Show from her living room, encouraging viewers to “stay safe and stay sane” in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
Season 3 of the Apple TV+ series debuted Wednesday, and Uba is back up and running. But who knows for how long. Over the past two seasons, Alex has weathered quite a few storms. It all started with the sexual misconduct allegations against co-anchor Mitch Kessler (Steve Carrell). Then, his sudden death. She also survived being canceled after her own actions, or lack thereof, came to light in relation to Mitch’s misconduct. And to top it all off, she contracts Covid. Her only constant? Work.

That's a lot to digest, and much like The Morning Show Season 2 came out swinging after Covid by including it in their story, The Morning Show Season 3 is taking on some of the biggest stories of the day, even if, for now, they're only touched upon lightly.
A lot has changed in the wake of Covid for Uba. After Alex Levy shared her bout with Covid with a worldwide audience, her popularity has risen to new heights.
While she's basking in parting ways with the berth that made her famous and allowing herself a little more sleep in the morning, not everyone is pleased with her ascension to almost god-like status at the network and with the audience.
Cory needed the assist with his push for Uba+, and while it's not an outright success, it wouldn't have been a contender without Alex.

When did television travel through the looking glass? The simple answer would be when streaming hit, as the great tech disruptors combined a cavalier attitude toward content creation with obscene sums of money. Where once golden age programs would live and die based on ratings, reviews, and awards — “Mad Men,” for instance, thrived for seven seasons despite never cresting 3 million viewers, thanks to writers’ infatuation and dozens of little gold men — now, those benchmarks are virtually meaningless. No one can succinctly define a hit show, let alone agree on aggregate critical appraisal or the value of all those trophies.

The Morning Show is finally back in all its glory for its third season. The Apple TV+ original series revolves around the battle between a veteran news anchor and a new talented face trying to gain supremacy over one another in the morning television industry in America. The series also focuses on issues like workplace sexual harassment.
The Morning Show initially premiered in 2019, as one of the first Apple TV+ originals. The series was a very expensive takeover for Apple TV+ but they had trust in the series and renewed it for the second season which concluded its run in November 2021, and after two years it’s finally back for its third season.

The series was a very expensive takeover for Apple TV+ but they had trust in the series and renewed it for the second season which concluded its run in November 2021, and after two years it’s finally back for its third season.

Note: This story contains spoilers from the first two episodes of “The Morning Show” Season 3.
Season 3 of “The Morning Show” premiered Wednesday, Sept. 13 with two episodes launching on Apple TV+. Dynamic duo Alex Levy (Jennifer Anniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) returned, but not exactly in the same roles as they were at the end of Season 2. The new episodes jumped forward in time to March 10, 2022 — about two years since we last saw the characters, with Alex fighting through Covid in front of the cameras during the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
Bradley has taken on the Evening News chair, which she coveted back when Eric Nomani (Hasan Minhaj) rose up in the ranks to helm the hard-hitting political coverage at Uba. Alex found new fame with “Alex Unfiltered,” her Emmy Award-winning special which stemmed from Chip’s idea to broadcast her live battle with Covid across the airwaves.
