- At age 11, she and classmate Candice Bergen appeared together as contestants on her father's television show, You Bet Your Life (1950). The charity they played for was the Girl Scouts of America. They were also joined by Edgar Bergen.

- In May of 1965 Melinda Marx won court approval for singing and acting contracts. A requirement was that she had to invest 25% of royalties from recordings to savings bonds.
- In a publicity item on February 23, 1965 Melinda Marx claimed that she got her recording contract without the use of her father's name.
- In August 1967 Melinda Marx announced her planned marriage to Jacques Gilloux in St. Denis, France, to take place on September 15, 1967. The wedding ultimately did not take place.
- Melinda Marx also starred in the R-rated film Hillary's Blues (1972). She played a typical hippie chick of the era, a young woman smoking pot, posing topless for photographers, and shacking up with a failed musician. The film may not have been released to theaters, but is available as a DVD-R from Mr. FAT-W Video (aka Films Around the World).
