This article contains spoilers for Quantum Leap season 1 and the premiere of season 2.
Does a Leaper control their leaps? It’s a question that Quantum Leap, both old and new series, seemingly have answers for. In the original show, Sam (Scott Bakula) was leaping because he was conducting a time travel experiment that went, to quote the original narration for the series, “a little caca.” He couldn’t control his leaps and hoped his next leap would be the one that would finally bring him home.
In the first season of the new series, Ben (Raymond Lee) had somewhat planned his leaps in order to get to a place in time where he could save the love of his life, Addison (Caitlin Bassett.) Now though in season 2 Ben is lost in time much like Sam was in the original series… Or was he? And is Ben really lost as well?...

The title character of “Comandante,” Salvatore Todaro (Pierfrancesco Favino), is a submarine commander in the Italian Royal Navy who has a different spirit from the military machos we tend to encounter in movies. He’s certainly tough enough — a bruiser with a dark edge. “Comandante” is set during the early days of World War II (September and October 1940), and as Salvatore leads the crew of the Cappellini, an iron hulk of an underwater vessel equipped with a dozen torpedoes and a pair of machine guns, he’s not shy about his dedication to blowing up his enemies.
But he’s also a saddened romantic warrior with the heart of a poet. As the men prepare to board the sub, Salvatore assembles them for a pep talk, and his look is striking: the double-breasted brown leather coat, the coiffed hair and thick goatee, the gleam of burning-eyed fatalism. Favino resembles a...

The first two movies in the franchise came out in 2014 and 2016 and combined to gross nearly $280 million at the worldwide box office even though both films were panned by critics. Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of the ever-expanding Yellowstone cinematic universe, has set his sights on the global war on terror with Special Ops: Lioness. The show, based on a real-life CIA program, tells the story of a female Marine tasked with befriending the daughter of a suspected terrorist. The series’ cast is outstanding, led by Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman; Saldana and Kidman also serve as executive producers.
Special Ops: Lioness is one of many Taylor Sheridan shows, but the prolific filmmaker wasn’t the original showrunner. Those duties fell to Thomas Brady, who wrote the series with the help of a writers’ room; Sheridan, upon taking over, rewrote all the scripts himself. Sheridan is famously devoted to his singular vision when it comes to his projects, which makes it interesting that the showrunner wasn’t present during the filming of Special Ops: Lioness. Tom Pelphrey ‘never had more fun playing a role’ than he did playing Don Crowder on ‘Love and Death’
If you are checking out “Love & Death” for Tom Pelphrey, there’s not a whole lot of him in the first four episodes. The actor plays Don Crowder, who seems like just another unassuming parishioner at Candy Montgomery‘s (Elizabeth Olsen) church. After she is accused of murdering her friend Betty Gore (Lily Rabe) with an ax, Candy retains Don as her defense attorney, and the last three episodes of the Max limited series are basically The Don Crowder Show. But when the role first came to him, Pelphrey was only sent the first four scripts of the David E. Kelley-penned true crime drama.
“I was told that the fifth episode starts the trial and I spoke with David about it and he said, ‘Don really becomes a central figure in the storytelling.’ And David also told me, ‘Do yourself a favor and start looking into who this...

Reacher has already recast one of the new incoming characters for season 2. The series, which is based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child, premiered on Prime Video in February 2022. It follows Alan Ritchson as a former U.S. Army military policeman who is blamed for murder and arrested before helping unravel a conspiracy in the rural Georgia town of Margrave. Reacher also stars Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Chris Webster, Bruce McGill, and Maria Sten.
Per Deadline, Terminator 2: Judgment Day star Robert Patrick has joined the cast of Reacher season 2. He will be replacing Rory Cochrane as new recurring character Shane Langston, an ex-NYPD officer who now works security for a defense contractor. Cochrane dropped out of the series due to scheduling conflicts and had not yet shot any scenes for the new season, which is based on the 2007 Reacher novel Bad Luck and Trouble.

The horribly tragic true story of Candy Montgomery and Betty Gore has been grist for several true-crime dramas. During the summer of 1980, Montgomery stopped by her friend Gore's home to pick up a swimsuit for Gore's daughter. Gore allegedly confronted Montgomery, who was engaged in an affair with her husband. A fight ensued, and, per Montgomery, she murdered Gore in self-defense. The sticking point here is the viciousness of the killing: Gore was struck 41 times with an axe. Though Montgomery was found not guilty, many people in the Dallas suburb of Wylie, Texas believed she had murdered Gore in cold blood, and protested the verdict.
Barbara Hershey won a Primetime Emmy for playing a fictionalized version of Montgomery in Stephen Gyllenhaal's 1990 made-for-tv movie "A Killing in a Small Town." In 2022, Jessica Biel portrayed Montgomery opposite Melanie Lynskey's Gore in Nick Antosca and Robin Veith's Hulu series...

Tom Pelphrey is living in baby girl bliss! In March, the actor and his partner, Kaley Cuoco, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Matilda.
“The first month has been heaven,” Pelphrey tells Et’s Deidre Behar while promoting his new HBO Max show, “Love & Death”.
Although he’s only been a father for a matter of weeks, Pelphrey says that he has already learned a few important lessons.
“It’s sort of like you keep them safe, you keep them healthy, you don’t let them hurt themselves and you offer guidance and structure,” he says. “I feel like the the child is also apart of this equation and they’re not going to be dictated to or shouldn’t be.”

True crime stories can be tantalizing, giving us a glimpse into the horrors of humanity from the comfort of our couches. There are tons of true crime documentaries on almost every streaming service, but sometimes we get dramatic retellings that make the monstrosities much more cinematic (and entertaining). When it comes to the case of Candy Montgomery, the suburban Texas housewife who murdered her neighbor with an ax, there are now two star-studded prestige miniseries to tell the tale.
Hulu's "Candy," starring Jessica Biel as the murderous mama, debuted on Hulu in 2022 and received mixed reviews from critics who praised the performances in particular. (You can read ours here!) Now, HBO Max will debut "Love & Death" starring Elizabeth Olsen as the killer Candy, and the latest trailer provides a peek into this absolutely wild case.

Star Trek: Voyager's Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) isn't just the Star Trek franchise's first female Captain to lead her own series, she also holds the remarkable record for the most on-screen deaths. Janeway experienced numerous challenges as she led her crew through the uncharted Delta Quadrant, encountering deadly threats and new Star Trek foes. Among these threats were the Borg, the terrifying Species-8472, and the Krenim, who subjected Voyager to a year of hell in season 4's classic two-parter.
Janeway also had a cavalier approach to the laws of time, which occasionally drew the attention of the Starfleet Temporal Integrity Commission. For example, Captain Braxton (Bruce McGill), a 29th-century Starfleet officer who had been stranded in the past, plotted a devastating revenge against Janeway and the crew of Voyager. The ship was repeatedly destroyed as Voyager's Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) raced against time to unmask Braxton as the saboteur.

True crime media seemingly won't go away, and with the sheer quantity of films and television shows in the subgenre, it feels as if there are more low-quality programs than those of higher quality. However, if the trailer for HBO Max's upcoming limited series "Love & Death" is anything to go by, we could have a very high-quality and suspenseful series coming soon to our screens.
While this may be a story some of you may be familiar with, allow us to walk through the tragic tale being adapted by David E. Kelley for the streamer. Candy Montgomery (Elizabeth Olsen) was considered the perfect housewife in 1980s Texas until the charming Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) entered her life. The two begin an affair, which threatens her friendship with his wife Betty (Lily Rabe). As tensions and secrets build, Candy reaches a brutal breaking point, resulting in one of the state's most infamous crimes.

National Lampoon's "Animal House" is perhaps Hollywood's first party film. It's a beloved genre now, with notable entries like "Neighbors" and "Project X," but "Animal House" was a true pioneer in debauchery. It may have seemed like a non-stop rager in the Delta house, but believe it or not, the set was a strictly sober environment — at least, while the cameras were rolling.
"Animal House" was a fratty set from the very start. Director John Landis called all the Deltas to set a week before the rest of the cast to help them form a close-knit bond. One night, they went to a frat party and got in a fight with the real fraternity brothers there, The New York Times reported.
"That fight cemented us as a group," declared James Widdoes, who plays the high-strung chapter president Robert Hoover. After that, the Deltas took to partying in real life almost as much as their characters.

Many consider their time spent at college as the best years of their lives. For a number of people, that's their first taste of independence as they're the ones who pick their classes, figure out what to eat for dinner, and determine when it's a good time to go to bed. And when theses kids decide to make all those decisions by picking all the wrong answers, it certainly makes for a wild time, which is essentially what "Animal House" is all about.
A pioneer of the boundary-pushing sex comedy, the 1978 film from director John Landis, producer Ivan Reitman, and writers Douglas Kenney, Chris Miller, and Harold Ramis planted the seeds for generations of Greek life antics and alcohol-fueled hijinks. Even my peers, who became college freshmen 30 years after the Universal Pictures classic premiered, were taking part in toga parties and getting a little bit louder now with Otis Day and the Knights.

The cast of National Lampoon's "Animal House" acted very similar on and off the screen. The 1978 comedy classic was the acting debut of Kevin Bacon, who was only nineteen at the time. Bacon had his big break when director John Landis plucked him out of acting school and cast him as Chip Dillard, a pledge in the prestigious Omega Theta Pi fraternity. It seemed like a dream come true at first, but the young actor quickly learned that playing one of the bad guys comes at a price.
Landis alienated the clean-cut, antagonistic Omegas from the rugged anti-heroic Deltas before they even began filming. The director brought the Deltas to set a week before the Omegas, where a strong bond quickly formed, The New York Times reported in a 2018 oral history. The group actually visited a nearby fraternity at the University of Oregon for a party — and got in a brawl with the brothers.

Comedians David Spade and the late Chris Farley were one of the most memorable comedy duos of the '90s, both as ⅔ of the Gap Girls on "Saturday Night Live" and as co-leads of two of the decade's classic buddy films. Decades beyond the release of the latter film, Penelope Spheeris' "Black Sheep," it still delivers plenty of Farley's physical comedy -- its funniest scenes sees him tussle with a bat and a steep hillside -- and strong buddy chemistry with Spade. But the end product mimics the earlier "Tommy Boy," but without much of that film's magic, leading one of its leading men to wish the movie had been axed.
Coming out of "SNL" fame, Farley signed a two-picture deal with Paramount. "Tommy Boy'' fulfilled the first half, grossing 32 million on a 20 million budget. Following Farley's Tommy Callahan III on a mission to sell brake pads with a less-than-thrilled Spade in tow,...

Five big-name Hollywood actors have played Jack Ryan in five films and in Amazon Prime Video's TV series, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, but which version of the American hero is the best? Created by Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan is the protagonist of a series of highly-successful techno-thrillers. On the page, and in many of the films before the character was rebooted, Jack Ryan is a former Marine turned CIA analyst, who is also a history teacher, author, and professor at the United States Naval Academy. Later versions of Jack Ryan modernized his background and credentials to suit the times of their reboots.
The success of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels naturally resulted in major motion picture adaptations. In the first (and best) film, 1990's The Hunt for Red October, Jack Ryan was played by Alec Baldwin, who shared the co-lead credit with Sean Connery. Harrison Ford took over the...

“She’s just flat-out meaner than Jane Rizzoli,” says Angie Harmon (above) of Hazel King, the gruff ex-hitwoman who’s finally brought Harmon back to TV six years after TNT’s cop dramedy Rizzoli & Isles ended. In Buried in Barstow, the first film in a planned franchise, Hazel’s low-key life running a Barstow, California, diner while raising her headstrong teen, Joy (Lauren Richards), is disrupted by the return of her former boss, Von (Rizzoli’s Bruce McGill). Harmon dishes. Why Hazel? Angie Harmon: Her devotion to her child. Being a mom myself, when your kids get hurt, it’s difficult not to just go absolutely bonkers. Hazel got to do all the things that I’ve really wanted to do. She’s trying to be on the right path. It’s just every time she turns around, something new is happening. She and Von have an interesting relationship.

Rizzoli and Isles haven't solved a new case on TV in nearly six years.
While Tess Gerritsen continues to write new novels on the beloved duo, we've been left with a significant gap in our lives as their lives go on without us bearing witness on-screen.
The iconic duo of Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander were TV staples for over 100 episodes, but what are they (and the rest of the cast) doing now?
In Memorium: Lee Thompson Young -- Detective Barry Frost
Lee Thompson Young, who played Detective Frost (one of Jane Rizzoli's closest co-workers), tragically passed away in 2013 before the filming of Season Five.
Detective Frost's death got handled beautifully by the writers, from his death in Rizzoli and Isles Season 5 Episode 1 to Jane seeing a vision of him in Rizzoli and Isles Season 5 Episode 18.
The episodes throughout Season Five left us crying, laughing, and missing Lee Thompson Young's presence on our screens.

Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher will see a familiar face as Maria Sten returns for the action series’ second season.
Months after the streamer picked up the Alan Ritchson-fronted series for Season 2, Prime Video shared that Sten will reprise her role of Frances Neagley. Ritchson, who stars as Jack Reacher, revealed on Wednesday that the upcoming chapter seeks to cover Lee Child’s Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th book in the Jack Reacher series. The first season was based on Child’s Killing Floor.
From writer and showrunner Nick Santora, the series follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years.

Okay, so why is ComicMix reviewing a football movie? Well, first of all, we’re a little more than just comics and secondly, it stars Captain Marvel himself, so there’s that.
Besides, it’s about a real-life hero, and who doesn’t love heroes?
Kurt Warner’s story is well worth exploring and the Lionsgate Home Entertainment release of last year’s American Underdog does a fine job recounting the story. For those unfamiliar, Warner was a star at Northern Iowa but spent four years unable to get signed by an NFL team. Finally, the Green Bay Packers signed but released him in 1994. He then played three seasons for the Iowa Barnstormers in the brief-lived Arena Football League before finally making it to the NFL with the St. Louis Rams. Once there, he led what has been dubbed the Greatest Show on Turn, culminating in winning Super Bowl Xxxiv.

Jack Reacher is returning.
Amazon has renewed Alan Ritchson-fronted action drama series Reacher for a second season.
The fast turnaround renewal comes three days after the streamer launched the Lee Child adaptation.
Amazon said that Reacher ranked in its top five most-watched series ever in the U.S. and globally over a 24-hour period – though it’s worth noting that all eight episodes of the series launched at once. The company added that it also was among its highest-rated original series, with subscribers giving it an average rating of 4.7 out of 5.
From writer Nick Santora, the series follows Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials as he travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When Reacher arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a...

“Reacher” has snagged an early Season 2 renewal at Amazon.
The action thriller series debuted on the streamer just three days ago, on Feb. 4. It is based on the Jack Reacher novel series by Lee Child. The first season is based on the debut novel in the series, “Killing Floor,” which was released in 1997. Per Amazon, the show is already one of their top five most-watched shows of all time, though it must be noted that Amazon also does not provide viewership numbers.
Ritchson stars in the title role as Jack Reacher, a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him and eyewitnesses claim to place Reacher at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge.
