Single mother Jess arrives on a remote island to compete on Love At Last, TV’s number one dating show (think The Bachelor – hence the title of the film). Her quest for love becomes a fight for survival when she slowly discovers that a mysterious killer is slaying the contestants, one by one, even with the cameras rolling. Jess must navigate a sea of two-faced beauty queens, coldhearted producers, and one mysterious and deadly killer in order to get off the island alive.
Another Tubi original, which some might feel isn’t saying much given the response to a lot of the streaming services output, The Final Rose feels like those typical trashy Hallmark/Lifetime thrillers – only this one cranks up the...

What do you do when your wife forces you to watch The Bachelor? You make a horror movie about it, of course… and that’s exactly what director Tim Cruz did. His third film The Final Rose is a slasher-whodunit set on a remote island about a single mother competing on a reality TV dating show called Love at Last. When the contestants become targets of a mysterious masked killer, their search for romance turns into a fight for survival.
Pitched to Fox and Tubi in September 2021, the concept was impressively bought on the spot based on two sentences. Cruz and co-writer Blake Rutledge created the outline in two weeks, completed the first draft in five and shot the film in 12 days during a sweltering June in California. Fittingly released during Filipino American History Month, Cruz expresses pride in it most likely being the first studio-produced film with a Filipino director,...

A man chased by a motorbike is cornered and decapitated. Horatio (David Caruso) says he's been cut clean through. The Vic was Russell (Brian McGovern) and Jesse (Eddie Cibrian) comments it's a long time since he's seen so much blood. From the blood pool Horatio finds where he was killed. There's a damaged tile on the floor. Jesse notices cast off from the weapon in oral drops formation. The torso would have been where the tile is damaged and Horatio uses a magnifying glass to identify a metal flake in the tile. Me Tom (Christian Clemenson) says the weapon entered the left side of his torso and out of the right. Horatio asks what type of blade could cause such damage. Me Tom surmises the weapon slashed through his spine and bone, so a sword was used. Walter (Omar Miller) asks Travers (Christopher Redman) what kind of world they live...

In last week's episode of The Game, the CW sports sitcom about football players and their wives, we were left on a rather dispririting note, with Clay, an outed player, left alone in the lockerroom, abandoned by his teammates — especially the sitcom's lead character, Malik (Hosea Chancez).
Picking up the story this week (on Friday), Mickey (Brian McGovern), the team manager, has had a chance to think things through, and he's decided, "We're all going to stand behind Clay."
"Well, that's better than standing in front of him!" calls out one of the players. Malik even comes right out and refers to Clay as a "fag." Later, one of the footplayer players' wives gets drunk and tells a series of surprisingly ribald gay jokes. "Why are gay men the first ones to check out of a hotel? Because they get their stuff packed at night."
