Paul “Pablo” Wilson left Snow Patrol after nearly two decades in the band last year — but he waited to announce it. Now, as he wants to move on with a metal-leaning project he’s calling Above as Below, he’s making sense of how the world has perceived the way he left Snow Patrol.

The silver ball wizards at Stern Pinball are teasing something spectacular for the game company’s next pinball machine with an interactive experience based on Marvel‘s Venom! Stern Pinball posted a new video (below) teasing its upcoming table, which we’ve heard is appearing at San Diego Comic-Con next week. Stern’s Venom pinball machine has been rumored as the next table from Brian Eddy, with the production of the table getting bumped by James Bond in the line of anticipated products.
Details about Stern Pinball’s Venom pinball machine remain a mystery, though we know it’s a Brian Eddy design with artwork by Zombie Yeti. A Venom pinball machine is Stern’s third most hyped pinball project, with Jaws and Back to the Future occupying the top two slots. Other licensed properties in the Kineticist Hype Index include tables for Top Gun, Tron, Ozzy Osbourne, Pokemon, Van Halen,...

On Sunday, Foo Fighters closed out Bonnaroo with a 19-song set that featured hits, guest appearances, a tribute to their late drummer Taylor Hawkins, and some fun covers, including a snippet of Beastie Boys’ 1994 classic, “Sabotage.”
“Fuck, let’s do it — go, Nate, go,” frontman Dave Grohl said onstage in front of the crowd in Manchester, Tennessee, cuing bassist Nate Mendel to kick off the song’s opening riff. As the intro burst into the first verse, Grohl hopped in, doing his best Ad-Rock impersonation.
The band made it a few lines before Grohl pulled the plug, saying “I can’t fucking rap and I don’t know the song, though I love it.” He then told the crowd: “Next year, we’ll come back to Bonnaroo, we’ll play at the fucking ‘Wha-What Stage’ and we’ll do a whole Beastie Boys set, how about that?” Watch a video of the performance below.

Dave Grohl, Travis Barker, and Miley Cyrus were some of the artists who performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday 27 September.
The show, which was held at the Kia Forum, kickstarted with Grohl’s 16-year-old daughter Violet performing a rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” along with guitarist Alain Johannes.
After that, Foo Fighters took over the stage, announcing: “Welcome to the Los Angeles Taylor Hawkins tribute concert.
“This is the hometown s***, so you gotta make it loud for Taylor.”
Grohl said that the idea of the concert is to “spend some time in [Hawkins’s] musical mind, which could be a pretty terrifying place” and to “celebrate this person that has touched our lives.”
The show continued with performances by Joan Jett, Chevy Metal, Kesha, Coattail Riders, Mark King, Rufus Taylor, Joe Walsh and the James Gang, Cyrus, Mötley Crüe, and Def Leppard among others.

As a movie site, it’s not every day we get the opportunity to interview famous musical artists, and in truth, true rock ‘n roll superstars. But if they go and make a movie, our chances are somewhat heightened. Thankfully for us, the Foo Fighters have created Studio 666, a comedy horror flick where the band play themselves, and after a theatrical run it’s now available to watch at home.
To mark this occasion, we spoke to frontman Dave Grohl, alongside bandmate Nate Mendel, about the origins of this project, and what it was like for the band to star in a piece of cinema. Following on from the themes in the film, we also speak about writer’s block – and if they’ve ever suffered, and they also tell us about their...

The Foo Fighters play themselves in this vanity project horror-comedy, directed by Bj McDonnell (Hatchet III). Die-hard fans of the band will enjoy seeing their heroes on the big screen, but for everyone else it’s a mildly amusing, occasionally tedious outing that’s better at serving up gore than it is at delivering laughs.
Set in the present day, the film opens with Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl deciding that he wants to do something special for their upcoming tenth album, so he persuades the band to record in a Hollywood mansion that was once the site of another band’s grisly demise. Don’t be fooled: the Foo Fighters’ “Studio 666” is not some extended music video gimmick put out by Dave Grohl and company. It’s a real horror movie with a legit runtime, a plot and a script. And though they’re amazed the movie actually got finished and exists, Grohl isn’t fooling himself that they’re suddenly real actors either.
“First of all, it wasn’t that much of a stretch to be the Foo Fighters. You throw us backstage in a room, and we are a comedy troupe everywhere we go, that’s just what happens, for the last quarter of a century,” Grohl told TheWrap in an interview, the second part of which will be published Thursday. “And nobody is going for an Oscar here, by the way. It’s very much like, ‘Hey let’s get f—ed up.’ It was nice to be relieved...

"This is not just a creepy rock 'n roll house... It allows spiritual entities to cross into our world." Ahhhh this is so gross! Open Road has dropped off another official red band trailer this week for the release of Studio 666, slaying theaters next week. We've featured two other trailers before. Legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock & roll history to record their 10th album. "The trouble is, frontman Dave Grohl is creatively blocked, and when evil forces in the house sink into his consciousness, the creative juices begin flowing but so does the blood. Can Foo Fighters' complete the album, with the band still alive to tour?" Starring Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, plus Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, Jeff Garlin. This is the craziest trailer yet! So much totally nasty gore in here.

Dave Grohl hasn’t sat still for more than 30 years, so it’s not much of a surprise that he’s ended up creating and starring in his own feature film.
As Pat Smear, one of the founders of L.A. punk legends The Germs, touring guitarist in Nirvana and a cornerstone of Grohl’s Foo Fighters, told him, “Drummers are like sharks, if they stop moving, they’ll die.”
In Studio 666, a horror comedy in the vein of The Evil Dead, perpetual movement doesn’t necessarily prevent death either. (Watch the trailer below.)
Grohl, who came up with the idea of the Open Road Films-distributed film that debuts theatrically on February 25, is a fascinating creature.

“It’s times like these you learn to live again,” Dave Grohl sang Tuesday night, with clenched emotion, at the beginning of Foo Fighters’ first concert since a global pandemic snuffed out live music last March. He was backed, at first, only by church-like organ chords from keyboardist Rami Jaffee. As the tempo picked up and the full band slammed into “Times Like These,” with 16 months or so of pent-up energy, the already-sweaty crowd in the Canyon Club in Los Angeles roared, recognizing that a post-9/11 anthem had found new and profound resonance.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took to the group's Facebook page to set the record straight about rumors they're splitting up.
"There were times when I didn't think the band would survive," Grohl candidly admits in the post. "There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world."
But Grohl does reveal that the Foos are taking a hiatus from recording and performing.
