Sky has taken UK rights to James Gunn’s John Cena-starring Peacemaker and the show will drop later this month.
The HBO Max original follows in the tradition of a long line of HBO shows that have aired as part of the Sky/HBO content deal, although it has been announced quite far down the line with premiere date so close. It will air on the Sky Max channel and streamer Now TV from March 22.
The eight-parter will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in Gunn’s The Suicide Squad – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.
Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Chukwudi Iwuji and Robert Patrick also star.
Gunn wrote all eight eps and directed five, while also serving as exec producer alongside Peter Safran and Matt Miller.

There was definitely a mix of feelings when it was announced that Lethal Weapon was coming to the small screen last year. The TV series has only been around for one season and there are already talks of it ending. Whenever that happens, which might be sooner than expected, creator Matt Miller has an idea of how the show will end, and it’s not looking good for one of its main and most recognizable character names. Martin Riggs, as portrayed by Clayne Crawford, is the infamous half of the lethal duo. In the TV adaptation, we know that Riggs has

Leave it to Lethal Weapon to tear our hearts apart.
It wasn't surprising that Lethal Weapon Season 1 Episode 18 would turn out to be an emotional roller coaster ride, but wow, that was intense. What a superb hour of television.
It finally seemed like Riggs was moving on with his life when Palmer dropped the major bomb on Lethal Weapon Season 1 Episode 17 that the cartel was indeed involved with Miranda's death.
All the progress he seemed to make emotionally took a nose dive as we found him once again with a bottle and gun in hand. He was definitely going down a dark road, but it wasn't the dark road we were expecting.
I would imagine that his emotional state might have been worse had he not had those few days of bliss with Palmer. It took the edge off what he could have done to Gideon which might have been...

Warning: This post contains spoilers from Lethal Weapon‘s Season 1 finale.
Lethal Weapon‘s Martin Riggs is the fun kind of crazy… until he’s the scarily obsessed kind of crazy, a point quickly reached in the Fox series’ season finale on Wednesday.
A quick recap: Working off what Agent Palmer divulged at the end of last week’s episode, Riggs followed through on his desire to make Gideon pay for Miranda’s not-accidental death. That involved staging his own unsanctioned extraction of the prisoner, as well as some off-book torture, before Murtaugh figured out why his partner was acting so oddly.

Here is why getting only a partial back order is not necessarily a death sentence for a freshman series. Fox has given an early renewal to its action comedy-drama Lethal Weapon. Lethal Weapon, from Matt Miller, Warner Bros TV and Lin Pictures, got off to an Ok ratings start in the fall after better than expected review. But a red flag was raised when Fox only picked up five additional episodes, four short of a full-season order. However, the reboot of the hit movie…...

If Lethal Weapon‘s Christmas episode made it seem like Riggs had come to some sort of peace about his wife’s death, chalk that up to wishful holiday thinking, executive producer Matt Miller says.
Because when the Fox drama returns on Jan. 4 (8/7c), the grieving detective won’t have moved far past where we last saw him: obsessing about a punk criminal’s taunting insinuation that the car crash that killed Miranda Riggs (and the couple’s unborn child) was no accident. Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” has been granted a full season order. The broadcast network announced Wednesday that its freshman drama, a TV adaptation of the 1987 film, has scored five more episodes, totaling 18 for the 2016-2017 season. “‘Lethal Weapon’ delivers an explosive and wildly entertaining core relationship between two cops, with dynamic performances by Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, surrounded by cinematic action, endearing humor and true heart,” said David Madden, president, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz have done a tremendous job on this show, which has proven to be a self-starter and solid companion.

There's a running gag in the second episode of Fox's Lethal Weapon series where the cops who work with Lapd detectives Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh can't decide on a joint nickname for them. Are they peaches and cream? Crockett and Tubbs? Starsky and Hutch? (The problem with that one is that both men insist on being Starsky.) The joke within the joke, of course, is that Riggs and Murtaugh themselves are as iconic a pairing as any of these potential nicknames. But the Riggs and Murtaugh in question are the ones played by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in a series of '80s and '90s movies, and not the cuddlier newer versions played by Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans in the Fox series, which debuts Wednesday night at 8. The Gibson/Glover take on the partnership — particularly in the first two Lethal Weapon films — is as beloved and...

If there's one thing that can be said about Ryan Murphy, it's that he's always switching things up – as a creator, you never know what he'll come up with next.
American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 1 was very much unlike any other installment in American Horror Story's history. I can't say I love it for sure yet – time will tell – but I have to give the writers and directors kudos for trying something completely different.
The premise was actually pretty simple: "Chapter 1" takes the form of an episode of a true life documentary-style show, in the vein of "It Happened to Me" or basically any number of shows on the Investigation Discovery channel. The show within a show here is called "My Roanoke Nightmare."
Roanoke, of course, is referring to the "Lost Colony," an unsolved historical mystery in which colonists (in the 1500s) mysteriously up and vanished during the Anglo-Saxon war.

Hollywood’s seemingly insatiable rush for movie-inspired TV series continues today, with Fox officially handing out full season orders to the small-screen remakes of The Exorcist and Lethal Weapon.
Thrusting both projects into the network’s fall 2016-2017 slate, they’ll now be joining fellow dramas A.P.B. and Pitch, along with comedies Making History and The Mick making for six new properties in total.
Based on William Blatty’s seminal horror novel, The Exorcist will be directed by Rupert Wyatt – taking a break from big-budget affair following his turn in the Apes franchise – and penned by Jeremy Slater. Billed as a total reimagining of the 1973 classic, Fox’s TV series takes place “more than four decades after the movie, and returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.” Geena Davis is currently attached to star.

Fox is currently developing a small screen adaptation of the classic action-comedy film franchise Lethal Weapon. Why? I don’t know! I guess they think it’ll be good or something. THR reports that the network has cast 24 alum Clayne Crawford in the role that Mel Gibson played in the films. He will star opposite Damon Wayans Sr. in the drama pilot.
The report offers some details on the story, explaining that the series kicks off when “Texas cop and former Navy Seal Martin Riggs suffers the loss of his wife and baby.” After that he moves to Los Angeles to start a new life. It’s there that he “gets partnered with Lapd detective Roger Murtaugh (Wayans Sr.), who, having recently suffered a "minor" heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life.”
The series is being created by Matt Miller, who previously worked on series such as Chuck and Forever.

After already filling the role of Roger “I’m getting too old for this shit” Murtaugh in its Lethal Weapon TV reboot, Fox has finally settled on the actor to play Sergeant Riggs, the maverick cop made famous by Mel Gibson across the late 80s and early 90s.
That casting search has led the studio to Clayne Crawford, best known for his part in Rectify. He joins a tight-knit crew that already boasts Damon Wayans Sr. in the role of Roger Murtaugh, a world-weary and frankly grumpy detective who reluctantly agrees to work with Crawford’s Riggs. Fast and Furious stalwart Jordana Brewster will play Dr. Maureen “Mo” Cahill.
As one of the early pioneers of the buddy cop formula, Lethal Weapon is in many ways considered a cult classic in film circles, and it’ll be interesting to see how McG (Supernatural, Nikita) helms the planned pilot episode. Matt Miller is behind the screenplay.
