Actor. New York City credits include the role of Friar Lawrence in the Public Theater's audio-drama production of Romeo and Juliet, starring Lupita Nyong'o. Julio has been part of numerous Broadway shows and will be playing the role of legendary Cuban musician Compay Segundo in the upcoming musical Buena Vista Social Club, directed by Saheem Ali. Other theater credits include more than a dozen off-Broadway plays including John J. Caswell Jr's Wet Brain produced by Playwrights Horizons and MCC Theater for which Julio received a Lucille Lortell Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play (2024). He served as artistic collaborator and consultant for the new West Side Story film, directed by Steven Spielberg (2021) and was honored with the 2017 Performing Arts Lifetime Achievement Award conferred by the Puerto Rican Day Parade Committee.
