A composer as well as a performer, his popular song compositions
included "The Japanese Farewell Song" and his biggest hit, "Hey, Mr.
Banjo.".
A fixture with the Spike Jones band for many years, his banjo and
comedic skills can be heard on such classic recordings by the band as
"Chinese Mule Train," "Black and Blue Danube Waltz," and "Rhapsody from Hunger(y).".
Inducted into the National Four-String Banjo Hall of Fame in 2004.
Freddy also had an album featuring his fine banjo playing, produced by Spike Jones.
According to his cousin, musician and journalist Sheldon Morgenstern,
Morgan shortened his surname because his full name wouldn't fit on a
record label.
