- To his early movies as a director belong "Hoffmanns Erzählungen" (1924) where he appeared as an actor simultaneously.
- In 1933 he was drove out of Germany by the National Socialists because of his Jewish root. He based in Austria, later he went to Italy and Spain.

- He began his career at the end of the 1910's in Austria. There he appeared among others at the Josefstädter theater.
- His brother Eugen Neufeld was also a famous actor.
