Worked at WMCA radio station in New York City for 34 years. O'Brien
along with several other disc jockeys were known as the "Good Guys"
during the 1960s.
O'Brien also had used a wisecracking sidekick character (similar to the
Chipmunks) known as "Benny" to deliver one liners back to O'Brien while
he was broadcasting.
In 1972 Joe O'Brien became the first on-air personality for radio
station, WHUD 100.7 Peekskill,N.Y., where he remained for 14 years
until he semi- retired in 1986. Another "Good Guy" Ed Baer took over
for O'Brien in 1986 had he too stayed for 14 years until 2000 when he
semi-retired.
Bon Jour Mon Ami was how O'Brien opened his show (with the song that
followed)
Ended his show by saying "Thanks for listening, if your in a car thanks
for the ride"
