In December, Ryan O’Neal died due to congestive heart failure and a battle with leukemia and prostate cancer.
Only one out of four of his children was in attendance at his memorial service, where he was buried beside his late partner, Farrah Fawcett.
O’Neal’s son Griffin O’Neal, 59, claimed that he was “never invited” to the ceremony because “I’m the hated son who told the truth. Dark times in this family. Love means never having to say you’re sorry — and Ryan never did, to anyone,” he told the New York Post.
Griffin drove 2,000 miles from his home in Houston and upon his arrival he was informed that the service would not be held until after Christmas. However, it was held on Christmas Eve.
Tatum O’Neal and half-brother Redmond O’Neal were also not invited to attend the service. Patrick O’Neal was the only one of the O’Neal children in attendance.

For most of the last 33 years, an Andy Warhol portrait of Farrah Fawcett has hung in the home of her longtime lover, Ryan O'Neal, and a jury's verdict Thursday ensures that is where it will stay. For nearly a month, O'Neal has been in a courtroom as lawyers for the University of Texas at Austin sought to gain possession of the portrait, arguing that Fawcett bequeathed the artwork to the school upon her death from cancer in 2009. O'Neal, 72, fought back and testified last week that the portrait was his closest remaining connection to Fawcett. The actor's descriptions of talking to...

Ryan O’Neal defended taking a portrait of his longtime girlfriend Farrah Fawcett painted by Andy Warhol from her home following her 2009 death, claiming it belongs to him.
Ryan O'Neal Says Farrah Fawcett Portrait 'Is Mine'

The University of Texas at Austin is suing O’Neal for the portrait of the late Charlie’s Angels star, citing Fawcett’s will, which left her entire art collection to her alma mater. While the University has a sister print to the one O’Neal recouped, they are adamant that they have both.

Los Angeles -- Ryan O'Neal may have enough evidence to show that he was defamed by a man who claimed the actor stole a valuable portrait of the late Farrah Fawcett, an appeals court ruled Thursday.
A divided panel of the 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled that O'Neal's case against Craig Nevius, a former Fawcett associate, should be allowed to proceed and that the actor may be able to win some damages. One justice disagreed and wrote that the case should be dismissed.
O'Neal sued in July 2011, claiming he was defamed by Nevius' comments that the actor had stolen a Fawcett portrait created by Andy Warhol. The painting is the subject of a separate lawsuit between O'Neal and the University of Texas, which claims Fawcett left the artwork to the school after her 2009 death.
Nevius' attorney, Lincoln Bandlow, said he would appeal the ruling to the California Supreme Court.

Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett's troubled son Redmond has escaped a jail term after he was caught using methamphetamine during a previous stint at a rehab centre.
O'Neal avoided jail time in August after he pleaded no contest to two felony counts, including heroin and firearms possession, because the judge sentencing him felt he would be better served in rehab.
He was also placed on five years' probation but warned he faced a three-year state prison sentence if he violated the court's terms. Last month, his probation was revoked and Redmond was taken into custody after confessing he used drugs while in rehab.
He was back in court on Friday to be sentenced, but Court Judge Keith Schwartz decided the best place for O'Neal would be in rehab, and ordered him back to the centre. He will be fitted with an electronic monitoring device.
Redmond's lawyer Richard Pintal tells E! News his client made a heart-felt speech to the court. He says, "I'm proud how honest (Redmond) was with the court. It was a young man speaking from the heart, who has insight about his demons and addictions and he sincerely wants to address them.
"I am extremely pleased with the results. He is out of jail. He is in treatment. The judge put on a list of very stringent conditions, all of which are very fair and very reasonable. These conditions are all in the short term/long term hope that Redmond gets clean and has a life outside of the criminal justice system - which is what everyone wants."
A progress hearing will be held on 16 November.
Redmond O'Neal was jailed in 2009 after he was found in possession of heroin during a routine security check at the Pitchess Detention Center, California. He was behind bars when his mother died in June, 2009.

Facing Redmond O'Neal for the umpteenth time, the judge told him to go right back to where he came from. That place being rehab. The only son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal was to be fitted for an electronic monitoring device on his way back to his live-in treatment facility today, the only adjustment to his sentence made by L.A. Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz after O'Neal copped to using drugs while on probation for a litany of other drug-related offenses. According to O'Neal's attorney, his client got a break after pouring his heart out in court. They had a "very raw" and "very honest" talk in court Monday, lawyer Richard Pintal tells E!...

Ryan O'Neal's son Griffin has pleaded not guilty to drug and firearm possession charges and driving under the influence after crashing his car in August.
The 46 year old veered into oncoming traffic and collided with another car as he was driving through San Diego County, California, causing head and neck injuries to the other driver.
O'Neal is facing six felony and misdemeanour charges related to the incident, reports The San Diego Union Tribune.
Deputy District Attorney Vanessa DuVall stated in court on Thursday that blood tests showed O'Neal had amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana and anti-anxiety drug Xanax in his system at the time of the accident, while loaded firearms were allegedly found in his vehicle.
Defence attorney Heather Boxeth claimed O'Neal had been trying to help his half-brother, Redmond O'Neal, who had been arrested on suspicion of heroin possession and violating probation after cops allegedly found heroin in his car earlier on the same day.
Griffin was on probation for a 2007 DUI conviction when the car collision occurred. He faces 11 years and six months in prison if convicted.

Los Angeles (Reuters) - Redmond O'Neal, the troubled son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal, pleaded no contest to drug and weapons charges on Wednesday and was ordered to spend a year in a live-in rehabilitation program.
O'Neal, 26, was arrested in Los Angeles earlier this month after police found heroin and marijuana in his car following a routine traffic stop for running a red light.
After his arrest, police searched O'Neal's home and discovered a handgun, which he is not allowed to possess because he is still on probation for a 2009 drug conviction. Back then, he was ordered to spend one year in a drug treatment program and given three years probation.
On Wednesday, O'Neal entered pleas of no contest to one count of possessing heroin and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. In addition to the year in rehab, a judge also sentenced him to five years probation.

Redmond O'Neal, roubled son of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, was charged with felony gun and heroin possession -- the latest in a series of drug-related arrests. Instead of sending him back to prison, though, the judge recognized Redmond's need for further treatment.
He's been sentenced to one year of inpatient drug rehab and five years of probation by a Los Angeles court. "We are pleased and grateful that the judge gave Redmond further treatment rather than incarceration," his lawyers say in a statement to People. "His history of addiction warrants this approach."
Though O'Neal has been in trouble with the law before, his family has been particularly supportive of his need for help this time around. For the first time, his half-siblings and father were present in the courthouse. Sources say that sister Tatum O'Neal has made supporting Redmond's recovery a priority.

Redmond O'Neal was formally charged this morning with two felonies stemming from his bust Tuesday, getting slapped with possession of a controlled substance (namely, heroin) and possession of a firearm by a felon. "He proceeded to go northbound on Lincoln before turning west bound on Olympic, it was at this time the officer observed him going through the red turn arrow," the spokesperson continued.
