Channel 5 has been found in breach by Ofcom following the altercation between Hazel O'Sullivan and Daley Ojuederie during last summer's series of Big Brother.
Daley was removed from the house last year because of "threatening and aggressive" behaviour towards Hazel while they were alone in the Luxury House.
Ofcom has now ruled that Channel 5 was in breach for its handling of the incident, which received a total of 165 complaints from viewers.
During the investigation, Channel 5 pointed out that Big Brother is known "to raise adult themes and deal with controversial and difficult situations and confrontations between persons who may have extreme personalities".
The broadcaster also claimed that the participants are "consenting adults" who expect challenging situations, adding: "The audience would be disappointed if such situations did not arise."
Pointing out that the complaints received were a small percentage of the overall viewership, Channel 5 added that similar scenarios are often seen...

Big Brother housemate Hazel O'Sullivan has told Digital Spy that she has no intention of speaking to Daley Ojuederie after he 'ripped her to shreds' in the wake of his ejection for "aggressive and unacceptable" behaviour.
Ojuederie was removed from the house in the fifth week of Big Brother's latest series after slapping O'Sullivan on the backside, clasping her around her neck and pinning her to the bed by both arms.
The 28-year-old proceeded to give numerous interviews with the media, during which he branded O'Sullivan "evil" and accused her of making "devious" comments about the incident that contributed to Big Brother's decision to eject him.
Speaking to DS at the 'Rock Your Jeans' party for Jeans for Genes last night (September 3), O'Sullivan explained that she was upset the boxer "didn't have the respect to hold his tongue" and 'milked' the ordeal for coverage.

Big Brother's Gina Rio has finished third in this year's final.
Her exit leaves rivals Sam Evans and Dexter Koh in contention to be crowned this year's winner and take home the £100,000 prize money.
She followed fifth-placed Charlie Travers and fourth-placed twins Jack and Joe Glenny out of the house in tonight's (August 19) live final.
Rio had long been favourite to win but a series of arguments in recent weeks with Travers and Hazel O'Sullivan saw her odds lengthen with bookmakers.
She exited the house to Lady Gaga's 'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' and received a mixed reaction from the waiting crowd.
Asked how she felt about making it to the final, she told Emma Willis: "Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. No words can describe how I feel right now."
She said that she had changed during her time in the house, dismissing her title of the 'Most Spoilt Girl in Britain'.

Big Brother housemates have discussed Charlie Travers and Dexter Koh's "awkward" relationship.
Gina Rio and Joe Glenny noted that the pair have become "inseparable" since Hazel O'Sullivan was evicted from the compound last Friday (August 9).
Gina commented: "They are so inseparable, Charlie and Dexter."
"I know, it's getting a little bit awkward now… I've noticed that where one goes the other one follows… since Hazel went they're like glue," Joe replied.
Gina added that it would be less awkward if Charlie was honest about her true feelings for Dexter.
"If she was honest about liking him then we would be like, fair enough," she said.
Later, Gina discussed the pair's relationship in further detail in a diary room conversation with Big Brother.

Big Brother's Gina Rio has mocked recent evictee Hazel O'Sullivan, with the footage to be shown in tonight's (August 13) instalment.
The pair were involved in a number of heated arguments during their time together in the house, before Hazel became the seventh housemate to be evicted last Friday (August 9).
Gina disagreed with fellow housemate Charlie Travers when she said that Hazel has the potential to be a "big star".
Discussing the model, Charlie said: "Do you not think she looks like a big star?"
Gina replied: "Nobody is interested in her."
Charlie also suggested to Gina and Dexter Koh that Hazel could "easily go into a massive pop career" as she has a "good voice" and looks the part.
However, Gina slammed her former housemate, saying: "No, she sounds irritating like a drowning cat. But everyone has a different opinion."

Hazel O'Sullivan has become the latest contestant evicted from the Big Brother house.
The 24-year-old model from Dublin exited as a housemate this evening to a largely booing crowd.
Presenter Emma Willis interviewed O'Sullivan on her exit, and their conversation mainly focussed on her dalliance with fellow housemate Daley Ojuederie.
O'Sullivan defended herself against claims from Willis that she should not have flirted so enthusiastically with Ojuederie with the knowledge that he had a girlfriend outside of the house.
However, she stated that she received "mixed signals" from him, and that as a woman, "when you're stuck in a house and there's nothing else to do, naturally relationships develop".
But O'Sullivan also admitted to Willis that she regretted getting as close to the former housemate as she did.

Big Brother's Hazel O'Sullivan has admitted she "doesn't give a s**t" about appeasing fellow housemate Gina Rio.

Earlier, Gina had admitted to Sophie Lawrence that she has never liked Hazel and believes she's jealous of her lifestyle.

Big Brother's latest nomination results have been revealed and four housemates face the chop on Friday.
Callum Knell, Jack and Joe Glenny, Hazel O'Sullivan and (once again) Dexter Koh have been picked by their fellow housemates and will go head-to-head in the public vote.
The results were revealed via a surprise cruel twist from Big Brother, which involved the private nominations being screened in front of everybody.
Callum picked up the most nominations this week, collecting five votes.
However, Callum appears to be safe in the early betting with relatively long odds of 11/1.
Glamour model Hazel is the hot favourite for the axe with odds of 2/7. However, the twins aren't safe and can be backed at 5/2. Dexter is the longshot and looks likely to survive again with odds as large as 33/1 on him leaving.
Gina Rio remains the firm bookies' tip to win the series with odds now as short as 8/13 on her triumphing.

However, the sports coach currently appears more concerned by the revelation that Charlie voted for him.
"I'm surprised, not disappointed. Now I know how you feel," he told her.
"Tonight I learnt something which is the way you view me. You have lost in me your biggest fan in the house.
"You have lost someone who has fought your corner and would never ever let you down."

Big Brother host Emma Willis has hit back at accusations that she was "too easy" on former housemate Daley Ojuederie following his ejection for "threatening and aggressive" behaviour, telling Digital Spy: "If he was on an edge, I was not going to push him off."
Ojuederie was removed from the house last week after slapping love interest Hazel O'Sullivan on the backside, clasping her by the throat, pinning her to a bed and threatening to "nut [her] one".

The 28-year-old accused O'Sullivan of making "devious" comments about him to Big Brother shortly before he was pulled from the show for "aggressive and threatening behaviour".
"I never want to see her again," he told New. "I don't need to and I don't want to. I can't believe what she said.

"The smacking and the language was aggressive, not playful and no-one deserves to be spoken to like that. Big Brother did the right thing in kicking him out and for him to say he was not being serious is even worse - as if physical behaviour like that is funny."
Speculating on how the incident came about, Childs said: "Not that this is an excuse but.

Big Brother contestant Daley Ojuederie spoke out about fellow housemate Hazel O'Sullivan after he was kicked out of the Big Brother house for "aggressive behaviour" yesterday.

Wolfy Millington was defiant in the face of a hostile reception while exiting Big Brother tonight (July 12).
The practising shaman was beaten in a four-way battle by Callum Knell, Hazel O'Sullivan and Jackie Travers.
"They can boo all they want", she told Emma Willis when asked what she thought of the audience response. "It doesn't faze me."
She went on to admit disappointment at having gone, but rationalised it by saying she had received "two boos, two cheers" from the audience during her time in the competition.
Wolfy also confessed that she was surprised to have been picked by viewers, adding: "Anyone who says they're not in it to win it is just lying."
Quizzed on what went wrong for her, she suggested: "I think Gina and Dexter found out my game plan, which kind of killed it."
Elaborating on the plan, she said she had intended to "cause mischief" but never got the chance.

> Big Brother evictee Wolfy Millington: "They can boo all they want"
The shaman's exit was not shown live, with Channel 5 cutting to the adverts as the house's doors opened.
Big Brother quickly apologised on Twitter for the error.
Erm, whoops. Bit of an error there. We can assure that Wolfy Has left the Big Brother house. #bbuk #BBEviction
— Official Big Brother (@bbuk) July 12, 2013
When the programme resumed, a replay showed Wolfy dancing her way down the stairs to a largely hostile reception.
The evictee had been Digital Spy readers' choice to go, beating Hazel into second place, and Jackie and Callum into a distant third and fourth.
Big Brother continues tomorrow night (July 13) on Channel 5 at 10pm.

Four 'Big Brother' contestants had a blazing row which threatened to turn violent last night. Daley Ojuederie and Irish model Hazel O'Sullivan teamed up in a war of words against Dexter Koh and Gina Rio after Dexter and Gina labelled Hazel ''a b***h'' and a ''w***e'' for seducing the boxer - who has a girlfriend outside the house. Gina yelled: ''You're a glorified w***e!'' Dexter called Hazel the ''wicked witch of the west'', adding: ''You're a honey trap, the house's honey trap. You're a nasty person trying to ruin a relationship. You look like a cold heartless b***h. When you were...

Wolfy Millington, Hazel O'Sullivan, Jackie Travers and Callum Knell go head-to-head in this week's Big Brother eviction.
But which one of the foursome do you want to see sent packing?
Wolfy picked up eight nominations from her fellow housemates, Callum got five nominations, while Hazel only picked up two.
Jackie was chosen to join them in the four-way vote by 'Safe House' duo Dexter Koh and Gina Rio.
Hazel is the favourite for the chop with bookmakers (8/11), just ahead of Wolfy. Jackie (33/1) and Callum (40/1) look to be safe with long odds on them becoming the third housemate evicted.
Glamour model Hazel's chances of survival have been badly damaged this week by her relationship with Daley Ojuederie.
The couple's flirting has been frowned upon by many viewers and fellow housemates and Daley's girlfriend Katie made an emotional appearance on spinoff show Bit on the Side this week, crying over her boyfriend's actions.

Wolfy Millington has been evicted from 'Big Brother'. The 20-year-old fisherwoman became the third contestant to leave the reality TV show tonight (12.07.13) after losing a four-way vote with Callum Knell, Hazel O'Sullivan and Jackie Travers. After stepping out to a chorus of boos, the practicing Shaman dismissed the hostile reaction. She taunted: ''Come on is that all you've got ... Boo all you want, Booing doesn't phase me.'' Due to technical errors, her departure wasn't shown live as Channel 5 - who broadcasts the programme - went to a commercial break as the house's doors opened. An apology was issued on the official 'Big...

Dexter Koh and Gina Rio saved Charlie Travers from eviction last night (09.07.13), putting her mum up in her place. The duo, who have been living in Big Brother's Safe House all week unbeknown to their fellow housemates, opted to save the 27-year-old beauty from getting the boot from the Channel 5 show, but they picked her mother Jackie Travers to face eviction alongside Wolfy Millington, Callum Knell and Hazel O'Sullivan. Dexter and Gina's sneaky move came as a shock to the rest of the house who thought the pair had been evicted last Friday (05.07.13), but their secret was divulged...

Big Brother housemate Charlie Travers has been saved from eviction at the expense of her mother Jackie.
Housemates became aware of Gina Rio and Dexter Koh's fake eviction for the first time today (July 9) when the duo returned to the main compound from their safe house and Big Brother informed the contestants that the pair had been watching everything.
The duo were given the power to save one of the nominated housemates, who would then come to live with them in the safe house.
They chose to save Charlie, with Dexter saying: "We think she's having a little bit of a hard time in the house, and we think that now she will enjoy the experience more and come out to the fullest.
"And she was the lesser of a few evils."
They decided to replace Charlie with her mother Jackie, who said that she knew the reason why.
