Marvel has released sneak peek of their new Spider-Man animated series. It features a clip of Spidey in the heat of battle with Scorpion. The new series goes back to the origins of Spider-Man as a hero while Peter Parker discovers his powers and begins fighting crime in New York City.
It looks like something the kids will enjoy, but Marvel hasn't really impressed me with any of their animation projects since The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Since then things have just been going downhill, especially the animation quality.
Maybe some of you will enjoy this first look more than I did. Check it out and tell us what you think! The series is set to debut on Disney Xd this summer.

According to We Got This Covered, tie-in merchandising has revealed that Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen and Venom will be featured in Disney Xd's upcoming new Spider-Man cartoon. The new show has been confirmed to follow Peter Parker, but it looks as if Miles and a spider-powered Gwen Stacy will play prominent roles. Venom's role in the show is even more of a mystery. Will he be a villain or a reluctant anti-hero? Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and Philip Pignotti (Avengers Assemble) are serving as executive producers on the show. With Miles Morales featuring prominently in Marvel's comic line, and Sony's animated featuring focusing on the character, how long will it be before the character turns up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?...

Earlier this year, we learned that Disney Xd had decided to cancel the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series in order to focus on a new Spider-Man show which would be headed up by the team of story editor Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and supervising director Philip Pignotti (Avengers Assemble).
The plan apparently is to focus on the “insecure yet courageous teenager Peter Parker as he learns that with great power comes great responsibility – especially when you get the strange abilities of a spider.” So, classic Spider-Man then, but some new merchandise has now surfaced which points to both Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen playing a role here. While that shouldn’t be taken as confirmation that we’ll see either of those characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s interesting that Marvel is choosing to put the spotlight on them.

Over the weekend, Marvel announced that they are developing a new Spider-Man animated series for Disney Xd. The series will simply be called Marvel's Spider-Man, and it's set to drop sometime in 2017. It will tell the story of "an unsure but courageous teen who has to figure out how to be a superhero from the very beginning."
The new series will replace the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man, which is set to conclude in January 2017 in a two-part finale titled "Graduation Day." That story arc will see "Spider-Man stop Doctor Octopus and the Superior Sinister Six from destroying all of the heroes in New York City."
The news of the new series came from Cort Lane, the senior vice president of Marvel Animation and Family Entertainment at Nycc, and this is what he said about it in a statement:
“We’ve been secretly nurturing ‘Marvel’s Spider-Man’ for years now, so...

USA Today reveals that a new Spider-Man animated TV series is on the way which will take Peter Parker back to high school (again) to tell some fresh new stories featuring the wall-crawler. The current Disney Xd series is Ultimate Spider-Man, but that will wrap up in January after four seasons with a two-part "Graduation Day" featuring the wall-crawler battling Doctor Octopus and the Superior Sinister Six. This new take is being headed up by story editor Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and supervising director Philip Pignotti (Avengers Assemble), and it will apparently focus on, "insecure yet courageous teenager Peter Parker as he learns that with great power comes great responsibility — especially when you get the strange abilities of a spider." Honestly, that doesn't sound too different to the character's current series, but chances are this one is going to ditch the goofy comedy and Family Guy style cutaways. Marc Buhaj,...
