She was educated at Cheadle County Grammar School for Girls during which time she appeared in the National Youth Theatre's production of Ben Johnson's 'Bartholemew Fair' gaining acclaim for her role as Fat Urs. She then trained to be a teacher at Goldsmiths, University of London but turned to acting in repertory.
Bought the rights to E.M. Delafield's 'Diary of a Provincial Lady' and adapted it as a self-financed one woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival then toured with it.
Lived in Hurstpierpoint where she was the patron of the local drama group The Hurstpierpoint Players.
Passed away on the same day as Queen Elizabeth II.
