He may have mastered the rap game, but Kanye West leaves plenty to be desired when it comes to acting chops.
The “Love Lockdown” hitmaker is featured in a just-unearthed clip from a sitcom pilot originally made for HBO that never actually took off.
Uploaded to YouTube by actress Alison Quinn, the video shows West throwing out bad jokes and a lack of on-camera charisma.
Producer Larry Charles told press that Kanye’s show was supposed to be in the style of Larry David’s massive hit “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
“What Kanye West said to me the first time, he said, ‘I’m the black Larry David.’ That’s the first thing he said to me. So it’s like a Kanye and Curb show, it’s kind of improvised about the situations and stuff. It was really good, but again I think it was too hardcore for HBO.”...

Before he was playing dad and making waves with his controversial album like Yeezus, Kanye West thought he could be the next HBO comedy star. Five years later, we get a first look at his attempt to be "the black Larry David."
Writer/producer Larry Charles said in a 2008 interview of the rapper, "What Kanye West said to me the first time, he said, 'I'm the black Larry David.'"
David is the co-creator of Seinfeld and star of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm. Charles added of the show that never made it to air, "It was really good, but again I think it was too hardcore for HBO."

This clip from a scrapped Kanye West HBO pilot, uploaded in 2010 as part of actress Alison Quinn's online reel, has the rapper riffing with a "dying Make a Wish kid." Back in 2008, we guessed that eventually a leaked pilot from the Untitled Kanye West HBO Project would appear online, and it appears Kanye also made our wish come true. Larry Charles, one of the show's executive producers (alongside Kanye himself and Rick Rubin), calls the project, "roughly Kanye's version of Curb Your Enthusiasm," "an idea Kanye thought up himself." Charles goes on to say Kanye also told him, "I'm the black Larry David." While he's granting wishes, we'd also like to know what happened to the puppet show.
