The truth is finally out there — thanks to a New York Times report that uncovered a secret UFO investigation program run by the Pentagon.
After the Times report dropped on Saturday, the Pentagon officially confirmed the existence of a $22 million government program exploring “anomalous aerospace threats” — also known as unidentified flying objects, or UFOs.
According to the Times, the initial funding for the formerly classified project, called the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program, came largely at the request of former Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada, who is known for his fascination with the subject.

For those of you X-Files fans who are still hoping to find answers to the truth, there's a team of people working for the government who have been on the job! According to The New York Times, in the $600 billion annual Defense Department budgets, there was $22 million spent on an Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which includes researching unidentified flying objects.
This funded research took place from 2008 to 2012 thanks to former Senator Harry Reid. The Defense Department has never acknowledged the existence of this program which investigates reports of UFOs, but it was run by a military intelligence official named Luis Elizondo... the real-life Agent Mulder.
Even though funding for the program stopped in 2012, the program is still running. The report says that "for the past five years, they say, officials with the program have continued to investigate episodes brought to them by service members, while also carrying out their other Defense Department duties.

Hillary Clinton is back on the attack ... blaming the Internet, at least in part, for her loss to Donald Trump -- and she's demanding some big changes. Hrc surfaced in D.C. for Sen. Since her defeat, there's been a lot of talk about websites posting fabricated stories about Clinton and their...

Donald Trump has, finally, all but united the Republican Party - in denunciation of his continued, race-based attacks on U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over the civil lawsuits against the candidate's Trump University. "I disavow these comments. I regret those comments that [Trump] made," said House Speaker Paul Ryan during a press conference Tuesday. "Claiming a person can't do their job because of their race is sort of like the textbook definition of a racist comment ... it's absolutely unacceptable." And Sen. Mark Kirk, a Republican from Illinois facing a tough reelection battle this year, flat out withdrew...

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate passed a rule to reform the filibuster process which will prevent Republicans from blocking President Barack Obama’s judicial nominees. Shortly after the president spoke to the press about this development, NBC News Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd revealed that the Democratic “activist base,” depressed about the Affordable Care Act’s roll-out, wanted Sen. Harry Reid (D-nv) to take this move for some time and will be buoyed by it.

Monday (April 8), President Obama spoke about gun control in Connecticut and then flew relatives of some of the Newtown victims to Washington D.C. to lobby members of Congress about gun reforms.
Now Tuesday (April 9), Vice President Joe Biden and Attorney General Eric Holder are holding a press event at the White House. They will stand with law enforcement officials from across the country, highlighting what they call "commonsense measures to reduce gun violence."
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell said Monday that he and 13 other senators are set to filibuster a proposal that stands a realistic chance of getting through Congress -- the expansion of background checks for people trying to purchase a gun. They say they are prepared to block any debate on the bill.
Democratic Senator Harry Reid responded with, "Many Senate Republicans seem afraid to even engage in this debate - shame on them.

Nobody asked me for it, but here’s my take on the ongoing debt ceiling crisis (which is, believe it or not, far more urgent than anything going on in the world of show business)…
As I see it, a large portion of the Gop today is certifiably off the wall, as demonstrated by their willingness to gamble with the future of the already shaky economy — I’m referring to people like Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Gov. Sarah Palin, who are on the record arguing that the nation’s debt ceiling should not be raised no matter how much spending on entitlement programs the Gop can force Dems to cut. At the end of the day, though, I just don’t believe that the Gop’s leadership — Speaker of the House John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell — will allow the party to commit political suicide for a...

Like many groups of friends, the Senate is now bitterly arguing over vacation plans: currently the gang is deadlocked in a heated debate about whether to continue the heated debt-ceiling debate, or invoke its God-given right to an Independence Day holiday break that extends to July 10. Provocative ontological question: how did the Senate initially decide to enter into a debate about the timing of the debate? And can it apply those same teamwork mechanics to other issues, such as whether to work over Fourth of July? And, sure, whether to raise the debt ceiling? According to Politico, the issue of whether to hang around over the holiday “dominated talk at separate closed-door Gop and Democratic meetings Wednesday, and some frustrated Democratic senators objected at a caucus session to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s suggestion to call off the recess unless there was actually substantive legislation that would be brought forward.

ABC announced a stack of pilots today. Work It is disturbing, almost a Bosom Buddies reboot about a couple guys who get laid off and dress up as women to get jobs as pharmaceutical reps. But they love their boy's night once a week wearing pants. Ugh. Did they learn nothing from Jake Gyllenhaal? They also greenlit a pilot about Edgar Allen Poe as “the world’s very first detective.” I wish I was joking.
Speaking of pilots, McG may direct the Wonder Woman pilot. At least the soundtrack will be awesome.

Sen. Harry Reid debated Sharron Angle last night in Nevada, and it put on display why the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate could lose to someone who has consistently made gaffes and odd statements during this campaign. "Nevada Senate debate fizzles," wrote Politico, while The Daily Caller just went with "Awkwarrrd." The most awkward moment? Reid's detailed description of a colonoscopy.

You could use a lot of words to describe this political season's campaign ads, but boring wouldn't be one of them. Some hits have included 'Taliban Dan,' 'I'm Not A Witch,' and 'I Didn't Go To Yale.' Now Sharron Angle is throwing her hat in the ring with an ad attacking Sen. Harry Reid. In thirty seconds, she approves of a number of claims, the most salacious being: "Reid actually voted to use taxpayer dollars to pay for Viagra for convicted child molesters and sex offenders." Um, zing?...

Dear Jackie:Just caught your recent column ("Location Management," Aug. 19–25) that mentioned 59E59 as a "reasonable" space in New York for self-producing. I want to clarify a few things about 59E59 Theaters and how we work.59E59 Theaters is a nonprofit theater space run by a foundation whose mission is to support small nonprofit theater companies committed to producing new plays. We have three spaces of various sizes that are licensed to nonprofit companies that fit with our mission. The license fees are below market rates. Further, the productions in the space are curated, meaning that we need to read scripts and receive information on the projects before committing to licensing the space. What the theater companies receive for their below-market fee is pretty extraordinary. We offer a marketing and public relations package that small companies could never afford on their own, including access to a full-time press rep and weekly...

Gregory Bonnan, who created Baywatch is back with a new syndicated series called Pt. Dume in 2011. It’s not all that different than Baywatch, really. A bunch of delinquent teens are forced to take part in a Coast Guard training program in Malibu. Slow motion running may be involved, but it will be in formation.
The Vatican bank has had €23 million in deposits frozen as the head of the bank is investigated for money laundering. The jokes write themselves.
Oprah is teaming up with Mark Burnett to launch a panel show for her new Oprah Winfrey Network to compete directly with The View. So now we’ll have The View, The Talk, The Gossip Queens, and now whatever this is. I’m not sure I can handle that much crosstalk in my life.

Senator Harry Reid (D-nv) is a corrosive influence to any political campaign, so much so that his own son, Rory, a Nevada gubernatorial candidate, went so far as to make sure his last name did not appear anywhere on his Web site, the conspicuously unspecific Rory2010.com. “Harry Reid Wrong on Many Levels,” is the title of a January CNN story, the topic of which could be absolutely anything. And Jon Stewart recently described the Senate majority leader as the worst guest ever to appear on his show. “He was like in a coma—it was so weird,” Stewart said. It would follow, then, that Democrats would be wise to keep this wholly unwelcome man far and away from any of November’s midterm contests, except for, unfortunately, his own. However, Reid, true to form, seems insistent on associating himself with previously untainted candidates. (He did not earn all that...

It's Cheyenne On Glee! Squeeeee!
I thought I'd start of this week's column with some fun new pics I found recently!
First, I've got the exclusive first look at Cheyenne Jackson's first appearance on Glee as Will Schuester's new rival Dustin Goulsby.
Don't you love a man in black!
Adam Rose/Fox
In case you don't remember, last month Glee creator Ryan Murphy told me that Jackson "...is going to sing. He is going to dance, of course. He is the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline. He’s a complete villain. He wears all black. He’s a handsome, villain who will become very intertwined in Will’s life."
And we can't wait for Cheyenne's appearance on Tuesday's ep!
Speaking of things I can't wait for is new Torchwood miniseries (Ha! Whoever threw the rotten cabbage at me missed!) so to tide us over are two new pics I spotted of John Barrowman.

Senator Harry Reid promised a vote next week to repeal the policy banning gays in the military.

In addition to setting the fashion world on fire with her meat dress and plowing down some records on her way to eight Vma wins on Sunday night, Lady Gaga also got some serious legislative business done.
The singer, who marched down the white carpet with four representatives of the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network — an organization working for the repeal of the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy — made a point at the show and on her official website of urging her Little Monsters to tell Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that they wanted the Senate to vote for a repeal of the measure soon.
Well, on Tuesday, Reid answered Gaga's call, tweeting, "There is a vote on #Dadt next week.

Because this is how I always dress when flying.
Above you can see Lady Gaga at the airport, with her new tattoo, a unicorn with a ribbon around its horn that has the title of her new album, "Born This Way." I find it increasingly difficult to believe that this entire Lady Gaga Dadt repeal effort — her Sldn escorts, her Twitter campaign and the response from Senator Harry Reid — wasn't an intricately orchestrated piece of theater. We need more of this in our politics. Brett Claywell broke Twitter silence to announce he's running the New York City Marathon to raise money for Grassroots Soccer, an organization that does HIV/AIDS outreach in Africa via soccer. He's looking for sponsors for $25 for a single African youth to $1000 for an entire classroom.

Is Artie destined to be unhappy on Glee? Because now “other Asian” Harry Shum, Jr. is saying the he and Tina are getting together on the show. Is this the new love triangle? The super dancer vs. the guy in the wheelchair? It’s an interesting story to tell.
“In the history of me teaching as a pro, I've never heard a woman ask, 'Please, grab my boobs, it's safer,’” says Louis Van Amstel on The Bachelor Pad last night. Please, someone disinfect Louis before he goes home to that cute boyfriend of his.

Sue Lowden, Senator Harry Reid's opponent for Us Senator from Nevada, has become the subject of intense mockery for her modest health care proposal, which the Democratic Party has dubbed "Chickens for Checkups." On last night's Countdown, guest host Lawrence O'Donnell mocked Lowden by saying that she was "advancing a health care system in which you would pay...with chickens." Problem is, that's clearly not what she said.

Angry about your cell phone service? About American politics? A promotional email from The Nation magazine and CREDOMobile advises that you channel your frustrations with both by making the switch to their baldly progressive mobile phone carrier service.
Delivered yesterday to Nation e-newsletter subscribers, the subject line asks "Has your phone company supported Michele Bachmann? Find out now."
That's Bachmann, the Republican Congresswoman from Minnesota's sixth district, Tea Party superstar, and every progressive person's bogeywoman.
The ad copy, crafted by Credo's in-house team, points out that none other than At&T has financed the campaigns of Bachmann and Republican Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, while Verizon Wireless has its own pet conservative cause, Blue Dogs (conservative Democrats). The email encourages a switch to CREDOMobile, which donates 1% of your monthly phone charges to groups like EarthJustice and Doctors Without Borders. "Take a look at your last phone bill, and think about where your money is going,...
