Du Bose and Dorothy Heyward wrote the book. George Gershwin was composer. Du Bose Hayward and Ira Gershwin wrote the music and lyrics. Wolfgang Roth was set designer. Jed Mace was costume designer. Eva Jessye was choral director. Alexander Smallens was conductor. Robert Breen was director. Blevins Davis and Robert Breen were producers.
- (1966 - 1968) Served as record producer at Columbia Records, producing albums for Tony Bennett, Diahann Carroll, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
- (1963 - 1972) Worked as conductor and musical director with Harry Belafonte on several albums and featured as conductor and choral director on the live recordings Belafonte at the Greek Theater and Belafonte Live at the O'Keefe Center.
- (1958) Arranged and adapted African-American spirituals to create "Revelations", the signature work of choreographer Alvin Ailey, which premiered in 1958. Served as musical conductor for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater until the 1990's.
