Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and our hearts are aflutter thinking about the most romantic couplings on our favorite shows.
More specifically, we're reminiscing about some of TV's greatest LGBTQ+ relationships. These couples don't just give us butterflies -- they also provide much-needed representation to a group that doesn't get to see themselves in characters very often.
These couples, fictional though they may be, are the definition of relationship goals.
As any TV fan knows, a good on-screen relationship needs several factors to work. The actors have to have chemistry, the characters have to have chemistry, and their relationship has to make sense in the context of the plot.
Sometimes, especially with LGBTQ+ pairings, it can feel like the writers just throw people together for the sake of a subplot, but those couples don't tend to resonate with audiences.
One example of this is Alex and Piper from Orange is the New Black.

When Dan Levy stepped into the role of David Rose on Schitt’s Creek, he crafted a character that resonated with audiences worldwide. The show’s success was undeniable, but as with all good stories, it came to a close. Fans have wondered why Levy chose not to reprise his iconic role, and we’re here to delve into the reasons behind this decision. Dan Levy’s career trajectory Dan Levy’s journey since Schitt’s Creek has been nothing short of remarkable. Netflix, the streamer that distributed Schitt’s Creek’s medicine to the masses when we needed it most, recently snapped up the multitalented multihyphenate on...

This article contains some Good Grief spoilers.
For the entirety of Good Grief, I couldn’t look away from Dan Levy’s sweater: that excellent cable-knit style popularized in recent films like Knives Out, yet here in a lovely dove gray unlike the usual preppy cream. It was also radically different from the black-and-white jumpers he modeled as David Rose in the dramedy Schitt’s Creek, establishing that queer character’s distinctive fashion sense in a uniform that would recur even with his emotional development. Yet it feels like a costuming through-line to Levy’s next memorable character, widower Marcus, in his feature debut as a writer-director.
Here the sweater signifies the very human desperation to hold on to something of the past, even when it brings us pain. As Marc learns through his own figurative unraveling after a year of grief, a memento like that doesn’t have to be...

Schitt’s Creek co-creator, Dan Levy, brings us an authentic tale of complicated love, gut-wrenching loss and anguished healing in his directorial debut, Good Grief – currently streaming on Netflix. Serving as writer, director, producer and lead actor in the comedy-drama, Good Grief serves as a reminder of the well-rounded talents of Levy himself, above all else. Yet, the film arguably leaves viewers wanting more – and not in the way Levy may have intended.
Good Grief sees Dan Levy play the role of Marc Dreyfus; a married painter turned children’s book illustrator struggling to deal with the losses of his husband and mother. The film follows Marc’s grief alongside his ragtag best friends, Thomas (Himesh Patel) and Sophie (Ruth Negga), each with their own problems in love. While Marc combats the sheer emptiness that comes with the tragic death of your other half, Thomas ponders why he is unable to...

After four enlightening, entertaining and full-frontally filthy years of Sex Education, this Netflix teen drama is coming to an end with its fourth and final series, as the Moordale kids finish up their school years for good.
A lot has changed as we enter the new series. Moordale Secondary has closed down, scattering the student body we grew to love over the first three series far and wide, and Otis and Eric are starting at the unnervingly progressive wonderland that is Cavendish College, with a whole new set of classmates to get to know. Maeve is now studying in America, Otis’ mum Jean has just had a surprise new baby, and a few other Sex Education favourites are missing entirely.
Let’s take a look at the Sex Education series four cast, old and new:

American Pie is one of those cult classic movies that anyone who grew up in the 1990s has probably seen — many times. It was known for its humor and certainly catered to a more adult audience, but it was loaded with characters that nobody could ever forget.
While it’s been nearly 25 years since the movie was released, some of the actors have remained household names. Where is the American Pie cast today?
The ‘American Pie’ cast in 2012 | Kevin Winter/Getty Images Where is Jason Biggs today?
Jason Biggs was the film’s main star, and he went on to act in movies far beyond American Pie. There have been plenty of film sequels, and he starred in the first four movies, up until 2012. He appeared in films including Eight Below and My Best Friend’s Girl, the latter of which is where he met his now-wife, Jenny Mollen. Today, Biggs is worth about $20 million,...

Bonanza remains the second-longest-running American western TV series of all time. The show’s unique storylines and characters made it a success, but the memorable theme song also played a part in the series’ popularity. The Bonanza theme song that introduced each episode changed before and during the show’s run, with one version including lyrics written and sung by one of its stars, Lorne Greene.

Bonanza and its cast members quickly became a fan favorites when the show aired on September 12, 1959. One of NBC‘s longest-running western TV series went on for 14 seasons and over 430 episodes. Although the stars of the series became popular, the music, specifically the Bonanza theme song, stole the show.
Its twangy rhythm distinctly marked the opening credits. While the tune changed throughout the 14 seasons the show aired, it was always recognizable.

On paper, the career of Judy Garland is the stuff of dreams. She is one of her generation’s most acclaimed actors. And her breakthrough performance in The Wizard of Oz made Garland a household name as a kid. But we now know that child stardom can lead to a lot of negative consequences for those who achieve it. And the performer’s experience with early fame was defined by trauma more than any sense of enjoyment.
Judy Garland’s childhood is a prime example of the dark allure of Hollywood
Garland, born Frances Ethel Gumm, came from a family of entertainers. Her mother, Ethel, was a vaudeville performer and her father, Frank, owned a local movie theater. Judy started performing with her two sisters when she was 2. The trio continued to sing and dance together on the vaudeville circuit for years, often with Ethel providing the soundtrack on the piano.

Judy Garland, who would have turned 100 years old this week, wasn’t just billed as “the world’s greatest entertainer” – in her time, she really was.
Garland was much more than just little Dorothy Gale from Kansas who once had an adventure in far-off Oz. She spent 45 of her 47 years in show business, eventually making 34 feature films and more than 200 radio appearances, releasing 80 singles and 12 albums, making 60 TV appearances (including 30 of her own shows), and doing 1,100 concerts.
“She had the amazing ability to convey joy and pathos and humor and sincerity and honesty,” says author and Emmy-winning producer John Fricke (“Judy Garland: A Portrait in Art and Anecdote”), “yet by giving of herself on that level, she had no guard, no protective shield. She was a million percent vulnerable.”

One year ago, “Schitt’s Creek” became the second TV series for which two men simultaneously received Screen Actors Guild award bids for playing father and son. As Johnny and David Rose, Eugene Levy and Dan Levy followed the example set by “Everybody Loves Raymond” pair Peter Boyle and Ray Romano in 2002. Until this year, these were the only such cases in SAG Awards history. Now, “Succession” star Brian Cox and his TV sons Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong have broken new ground as the first ones to achieve this feat on the drama side. After winning an Emmy against Cox in 2020, Strong is now challenged with defending his honor by earning the esteem of his acting peers.

I'll always remember the night of December 5, 2017. It holds an incredibly special place in my heart because that's the original air date for the 99th episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine - the episode in which Rosa Diaz comes out as bisexual. It might not seem like a big deal, but Stephanie Beatriz, the bisexual actress who plays Diaz on the show, gets right to the heart of why it matters, telling Vulture: "The main thing for me was that the character said 'bisexual' and that she said it so many times." And she's right - how many characters have been able to name their bisexuality without being the villain of the story or having their sexual promiscuity become a major plot point?
The answer is . . . not many.
In GLAAD's annual Where We Are on TV Report, they note that there are 95 regular LGBTQ+ characters on original streaming scripted series, and 46 LGBTQ+ recurring characters.

Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton may have been the inspiration behind Alexis Rose's T-rex-like hand gesture and vocal fry on Schitt's Creek, but the freelance brand invigorator's iconic "boops" can be solely credited to Annie Murphy. While chatting with the Canadian actress about her partnership with Tide for the laundry detergent's #TurnToCold campaign, she revealed the origin of her character's tendency to affectionately tap her family members and friends on the nose with her index finger. As it turns out, the habit was born from Murphy's on-set hijinks with her costar and real-life pal Dan Levy.
"First of all, I heard 'boobs,' and I was like, 'They weren't that remarkable,'" Murphy jokingly prefaced before diving into the funny backstory of Alexis's boops. "I realized very early on that booping Dan Levy on the nose was a source of great delight for me because...

Dan Levy was first nominated at the SAG Awards last year in Best Comedy Ensemble for “Schitt’s Creek.” The Pop TV laugher has experienced an unprecedented slow build in momentum, before it finally exploded on the awards circuit for its final season. This year Levy returns to the SAG Awards in the Comedy Ensemble race, but he also nabbed his first individual nomination for Best TV Comedy Actor.
Levy portrays David Rose on “Schitt’s Creek,” the son of an affluent family gone bankrupt. The final season of the hit comedy sees David marry his partner Patrick (Noah Reid) in a heartfelt ceremony. He also chooses to leave dreams of big cities and A-List social circles behind in order to buy a house in Schitt’s Creek with his new husband.

On March 10, something incredible happened on Jessie Ware's Table Manners podcast. Dan Levy, aka David Rose from Schitt's Creek, was Ware's guest and the conversations that took place were truly wonderful. Dan told both Jessie and her mum Lennie all about his adventures of living in London and working for the talent agency ICM, an experience he had after going through a particularly taxing breakup.
"I was living on Charlotte Street. It was the early days of the internet so I don't even know how I found this place. It was a tiny little apartment on the top floor above a restaurant," he told the Wares. He went on to explain that his time in London had been a hugely formative experience for him, as he struggled to combat social anxiety and insecurity in his younger days. "It was like an eat, pray, love situation, I knew I had...

Dan Levy became a fresh and fierce new face of comedy thanks to the word-of-mouth success of Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek.” The farewell season of the Canadian laugher brought the multihyphenate a slew of nominations, including his first ever Golden Globe bid. Will his awards season dominance continue with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association?
At the upcoming Golden Globes, Levy is nominated for Best TV Supporting Actor alongside John Boyega (“Small Axe”), Brendan Gleeson (“The Comey Rule”), Jim Parsons (“Hollywood”) and Donald Sutherland (“The Undoing”). Like Levy, this is Boyega’s first nomination. Gleeson is a four-time nominee, while Parsons and Sutherland are past winners.

2021 Golden Globe Final Predictions:
Best TV Supporting Actor
Updated: Feb. 24, 2021
Awards Commentary:
Dan Levy could become the first comedy performer to win the Golden Globes supporting actor category since “Glee” star Chris Colfer did it back in 2010. Now, with the ongoing power of “Schitt’s Creek,” co-creator Levy is a front runner — although he has intense competition from John Boyega of “Small Axe.” Also in the mix are “The Undoing’s” Donald Sutherland and “Hollywood’s” Jim Parsons. Will the HFPA feel like honoring Brendan Gleeson for playing Donald Trump in “The Comey Rule”? That seems tougher to imagine.
And The Predicted Winner Is: Dan Levy

Multi-hyphenate Dan Levy hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the very first time tonight, with musical guest Phoebe Bridgers. This comes after a major Emmy sweep in September, where Levy won four awards in one night for directing, writing, producing and acting in “Schitt’s Creek.” For his opening “SNL” monologue, Levy began by listing the good and the bad that came with the rising popularity of his show. While “Schitt’s Creek” made him bigger than ever, there has been an issue of people shouting “Ew” at him, a memorable reference from the sitcom.

Levy then spoke of how much fun the “SNL” experience has been for him so far and conducted a tour for the audience. While he tried to do some audience interaction, Covid-19 restrictions resulted in a safety officer (a committed Aidy Bryant) enforcing the six-foot distance rule.

Everything continues to come up Roses. After scoring five Screen Actors Guild nominations on Thursday, the most of any comedy series, “Schitt’s Creek” is poised to pull off another sweep after making history by walking away with every single comedy category at the Emmys last fall.
The Canadian comedy received a repeat nomination for comedy ensemble and individual acting nominations for all four principal actors: Catherine O’Hara (the only cast member to receive a nom last year), Eugene Levy, Dan Levy and Annie Murphy. Because the SAG Awards do not distinguish between lead and supporting performances the way other awards shows do, O’Hara and Murphy are pitted against one another for comedy actress, while father and son, who co-created the show together, will compete in the comedy actor category.
While this situation could potentially split votes, it is probably a bit more accurate this way, at least when it comes to the men.

Of the 11 Golden Globe Awards handed out on the television side, four will go to male actors who made a splash in the 2020 calendar year. Per Gold Derby odds, two trophies will be given to performers who appear in brand new programs, a staple of the Hollywood Foreign Press: Matthew Rhys in drama series “Perry Mason” and Mark Ruffalo in limited series “I Know This Much Is True.” The other pair of trophies are forecasted for father-son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who will buck the “new show” trend and prevail on their sixth (and final) season of “Schitt’s Creek.” Do you agree or disagree with these Golden Globe predictions? You have until February 3 to make your own picks.

Perhaps the most heartwarming boop of them all comes in the series finale when Alexis lightly taps David's nose before walking him down the aisle at his wedding. Though her Schitt's Creek character, Stevie Budd, has a pretty messy love life, Emily Hampshire's relationship history is far less complicated. Emily has only been romantically linked to two people, and most recently, the actress was engaged to musician Teddy Geiger. The two became Instagram official in August 2018 when Emily posted a selfie of herself and Teddy with the caption, "Just me & my girlfriend." Over the next several months, the couple showed each other plenty of social media love, and in November 2018, Emily decided to pop the question, which Teddy announced with an Ig post.
Sadly, the two decided to call off their engagement seven months later in June 2019, with a source reportedly telling Page Six that the couple had split and "will not get back together." It's unclear why Emily and Teddy broke up, and the two have yet to publicly address the breakup.

“Schitt’s Creek” co-creator and actor Dan Levy took to social media October 6 to call out Comedy Central India for censoring a gay kiss between two male characters on his Emmy-winning comedy series. A scene from the Pop TV comedy series was posted to Comedy Central India’s Twitter account last year, but a kiss between Levy’s David Rose and Dustin Milligan’s Ted Mullens was removed. The scene centers on a spin-the-bottle-game where the two characters get paired to kiss. Kisses between two women and kisses between men and women in the same scene were not censored.
“You showed the kiss between two women, you showed the kiss between a woman and a man, then removed the kiss between two men?” Levy wrote on social media. “This is a show about the power of inclusivity. The censorship of gay intimacy is making a harmful statement against that message.”

Update: Although Netflix said that the sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek would be available to stream in the US and Canada on Oct. 7, the streaming giant surprised fans by releasing the installment four days early on Oct. 3! The documentary Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt's Creek Farewell also dropped on the same day, so we've got some binging to do. Dan Levy shared the news on Twitter, writing, "Surprise! Season 6 & the Best Wishes, Warmest Regards documentary just dropped early on @netflix @Netflix_CA! Have a great weekend!"
Original post: We're only a couple months out from the TV premiere of Schitt's Creek's final season, but when will season six arrive on Netflix? The beloved sitcom took off exponentially thanks to its growing popularity on Netflix, but for fans who watch the comedy solely on streaming, they'll have to wait a little longer for that final batch of episodes.

Schitt's Creek may have swept the Emmys in the comedy categories on Sunday night, but the real star of the night was arguably Dan Levy, aka David Rose. The 37-year-old's unpretentious charm and quick wit stole the spotlight, and naturally, fans are wanting to know more about the actor - specifically, whether he's single or taken.
Given that Dan is pretty private when it comes to his love life, we don't know for sure if he's currently dating anyone. He also hasn't given us any clues on his Instagram. However, he briefly told Out magazine in 2015 that he was single at the time. "I've been single for a bit. It's a strange thing. I don't know whether it's an excuse that I'm telling myself or whether it's just what it is, but I feel like this job has consumed my life. I feel like I only get one shot at this,...

David! Dan Levy gets to bid farewell to David Rose with not one, not two, but three Emmys in his hand so far. The actor, who found viral stardom thanks to the series he created with dad Eugene Levy, Schitt's Creek, was honored with the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series on Sunday, Sept. 20. The win capped off Levy's run as the beloved character since the sitcom ended earlier this year with its sixth and final season. The actor was also in esteemed company, beating out fellow nominees Mahershala Ali, Alan Arkin, Andre Braugher, Sterling K. Brown, William Jackson Harper, Tony Shalhoub and Kenan Thompson. "The Internet's about...

Schitt’s Creek is cleaning up on Emmy Sunday as Dan Levy won for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Comedy Series for his role as David Rose on the Pop TV comedy. He won after the show already scooped up Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress as well as Writing and Directing for a Comedy Series.
“The internet is about to turn on me, I’m so sorry,” a shocked Levy admitted as he accepted the award — virtually and in a nice Thom Browne suit, I might add.
He started off by thanking the “magnificent” Catherine O’Hara and his co-star and father Eugene Levy for the “six-year masterclass” which they have taught him while filming the show.
“[They] led by example; they led without ego and led with excitement and the trickle effect of that was felt through everybody,” he said.
He also thanked his on-screen sister, Annie Murphy, “I would...

The usual red carpet at the 72nd Emmy Awards is very different, but stars are still putting their best fits forward for this year’s virtual event, whether they are dressed up or down.
Jameela Jamil opted for casual chic, wearing a rainbow sequined robe from Markarian NYC over an all-white pajama set. “No bra? No heels? No Problem,” Jamil wrote in an Instagram post featuring the outfit. “Wearing Pj’s to the 72nd Emmy awards (from my house) is my kind of vibes.” Jamil plays Tahani Al-Jamil on NBC’s “The Good Place,” which is up for seven awards tonight.

Dan Levy and Noah Reid may not be an Irl item (much to the disappointment of David and Patrick shippers), but the Schitt's Creek costars are good pals. After Noah joined the cast as David Rose's business partner, Patrick Brewer, in season three, fans quickly fell in love with the onscreen couple, and Tbh, it's hard not to love them. Of course, what makes David and Patrick's love story so special isn't just great acting - it's the result of Dan and Reid's offscreen friendship. The two actors have said the sweetest things about each other over the years, and their best quotes will make you mourn the end of Schitt's Creek all over again.
