Shortly after HBO released Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season, the Golden Globe nominations were unveiled and its considered a surprise that the series was virtually shut out. After the long wait, the truncated final season arrived this year and rather than take a victory lap, it was showered with complaints.
When the series, adapting George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire novels, arrived, people were stunned at its scope, sweep, violence, sensuality, and strong performances. You weren’t sure who to root for as the status quo kept shifting and beloved characters kept dying in unexpected, messy ways.
Phrases and names seeped into public consciousness just as the series began exhausting the extant prose and then charged ahead while Martin struggled to finish the current novel, in the cycle. Series Executive Producers/Writers/Directors David Benioff & D.B. Weiss got direction from Martin and then increasingly veered off in their own direction.

HBO has released another featurette for Game of Thrones as the premiere of the final season draws closer. I’ve been enjoying these behind-the-scenes videos that focus on certain technical aspects of bring this epic fantasy series to life.
We’ve already shared featurettes that focus on the makeup work and another one that focuses on the stunt work. Now we have one that highlights the camera work and what the cinematography team has to go through to get the incredibly awesome shots that we see in the series.
The camera team calls themselves the “Dragon Unit” and one of the camera operators, Sean Savage, talks about the work he has done on the series over the years and reveals what he thinks the best scene that has ever been shot is. They put a focus on “The Battle of the Bastards” battle because it is one of the biggest...

Out today is the Blu-ray edition of Game of Thrones: The Complete Sixth Season from HBO Home Entertainment.
We previously reviewed the Digital HD version of the season here but there are new elements to consider with the box set.
The vast majority of Digital HD releases do not come with the bonus features, extra, and Easter Eggs we have come to know and love about the disc format. As a result, the Digital HD version is a nice add-on for on-the-go viewing, but the complete immersive experience, the special features add interviews, behind-the-scenes information, commentary, and deleted scenes to enhance your appreciation of the material. This season set, though, does come with some, but all, the extras found on the Blu-ray box set.
This season was a mixed bag with incredibly strong storytelling undercutting its strength by not surprising us. No one, except readers of the novel, expected...

Exclusive: Lifetime is developing a movie about the highly-publicized case of two couples involved in an IVF mix-up. Sony Pictures TV, which is producing the project, has acquired the rights to the story of Carolyn and Sean Savage and Shannon and Paul Morrell, who made headlines when a fertility clinic mistakenly implanted the Morrells' embryo into Carolyn Savage. Savage went on to give birth to a baby boy, which was then given to the other couple. Nancey Silvers, who most recently wrote Lifetime's upcoming movie William and Kate, will write the telefilm, which is based on Carolyn and Sean Savage's book Inconceivable, released today by Harper Collins, as well as Shannon and Paul Morrell's book Misconception published last spring and released in paperback 2 weeks ago. The Savages were on the Today Show this morning promoting the book, and their case was also featured on Dateline NBC on Friday.
