Having recently tackled the world of haute couture in “Halston,” Ewan McGregor is going to break out his climbing gear to scale the heights in “Everest.”
The high-altitude adventure comes courtesy of Doug Liman, the exacting action auteur behind “The Bourne Identity” and “Edge of Tomorrow,” and will star McGregor as George Mallory, an English mountaineer who took part in the first three British expeditions to Mount Everest. This is, of course, not to be confused with 2015’s “Everest,” a re-telling of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, when eight climbers caught in a blizzard died while attempting to descend from the summit.
Here’s the official logline: “1921. Everest remains the very last great unconquered challenge on earth. Many have sacrificed their sanity and often their lives in the attempt to reach its fabled summit. George Mallory (McGregor) is picked by the arrogant Arthur Hinks (Strong) of the Royal Geographic Society to scale the impossible.

Ewan McGregor, Outlander‘s Sam Heughan and Mark Strong have been set to star in Everest, an adventure thriller to be directed by Doug Liman from a script from Oscar-nominated Up in the Air scribe Sheldon Turner. The just announced pic is set to start shooting in the UK and Italy in January 22. HanWay Films will rep international sales and distribution beginning at the upcoming Cannes Virtual Market. UTA Independent Film Group will handle the U.S. sale.
Inspired by Jeffrey Archer’s novel Paths of Glory, the story is set in 1921 and centers on the real-life George Mallory (McGregor) who is picked by Arthur Hinks (Strong) of the Royal Geographic Society to scale the previously unconquerable Mt Everest. Following World War I, the fading British empire is desperate for a victory, but for Mallory and his rival, the eccentric Aussie George Finch (Heughan), the challenge has nothing to do with patriotism,...

Uncharted Territory and Bavaria Fiction are charting a course to the stars with “Orion,” a relaunch of the classic German science fiction series “Raumpatrouille — Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffes Orion” (“Space Patrol — The Fantastic Adventures of the Spaceship Orion”).
The iconic black and white show, which became known simply as “Raumpatrouille Orion,” had a brief seven-episode run on West Germany’s Ard in 1966 but went on to become a beloved cult favorite over the years through reruns.
The original series, which was likewise produced by Bavaria Film, centered on Commander Cliff Allister McLane (Dietmar Schönherr) and the diverse crew of the space cruiser Orion as they protect a united Earth in a war against an alien race known as the Frogs.
The new version, based on a concept by Uncharted Territory’s Volker Engel and Gesa Engel, continues the story established in the original series but with a new generation of characters.

Even though the recently released Venom movie fell well short of my expectations, I’ll concede that it did have its moments. I mean, not only did the titular anti-hero look pretty badass and feature in some cool action scenes, but I can at least say his latest outing on the big screen was better than Spider-Man 3.
Personal feelings aside, one must acknowledge the reality of this flick being a box office powerhouse because it managed to rake in more dough than the mighty Wonder Woman. Perhaps it’s that impressive take which forced Sony’s hand when putting together the Blu-ray release. In other words, Venom arrives on home video just in time to be placed under your Christmas tree.
Of course, you could just pick it up at any store local to you, but it’s worth giving the collectors out there ample heads up. As you would’ve figured,...

The Venom DVD and Blu-ray arrives in December and we have a list of what kind of bonus features it'll come with.
Ruben Fleischer’s Venom was a bigger hit than expected. The supposed first step in Sony’s “Venom Extended Universe” (which will include Morbius and Venom 2) has made more than $800 million internationally, meaning that we live in a world where a Venom solo film made more than the goddamn Justice League. Venom got plenty of love from the movie-going public, even if the critics panned it.
Even this very site gave it a bad review, but we’re far from a hivemind. I loved the stupid movie for being a fun and funny exercise in Tom Hardy being as ridiculous as possible. I loved it enough that I’ve already pre-ordered the Blu-ray.
That’s even before I found out what’s even on said...

After getting dog-piled by critics – entirely unfairly, in my opinion – it’s looking like Venom is having the last (toothy and drooling) laugh. The film has absolutely cleaned up at the box office, both domestically and internationally, with it now having grossed more than Logan ($619 million), Ant-Man and the Wasp ($622 million), Justice League ($657.9 million) and even Wonder Woman ($821.8 million). It’s an astonishing debut for Sony’s awkwardly named Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, and the film will only add to its haul when it hits digital release on December 11th and Blu-ray on December 18th.
We’ve already gotten a good look at the striking cover for the Blu-ray edition, but we now have a full list of special features, which you can see below:

Due to Sony’s spinoff film being set in its own continuity, Venom will make some major changes to the story of Eddie Brock and his vicious other half. We’re prepared for the fact that the villain won’t have any ties to Spider-Man, but it’s also worth mentioning that this means the origin of the symbiote that bonds with the journalist will likewise be altered.
While speaking to IGN, VFX supervisor Paul Franklin revealed that the film’s opening will explain how the Life Foundation, run by Riz Ahmed’s Carlton Drake, hoovered up the symbiotes with a space probe when scanning an asteroid.

Principal photography will begin on September 9 on Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Man From U.N.C.L.E. The film is the first to be made under filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s and producer Lionel Wigram’s new production shingle, Ritchie/Wigram Productions, which has a first-look deal with Warner Bros.
Having successfully re-imagined the classic detective Sherlock Holmes in two hit films, the pair now bring their fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series by bringing super spies Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin to the big screen. The original TV show starred Robert Vaughn and David McCallum.
Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin, alongside stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant (“Cloud Atlas”) as Waverly.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tom Cruise's new sci-fi film All You Need is Kill has been re-titled Edge of Tomorrow, and a badass new poster has been released for it!
Personally I think All You Need is Kill is a much better title. Edge of Tomorrow sounds like a basic, boring movie title for a film I wouldn't be interested in seeing. It also sounds like a film Roland Emmerich would direct.
Warner Bros. has announced that they are officially bringing the movie to Comic-Con, and they will give fans a look at the first footage from the Doug Liman-directed film. I can't wait to see it! Especially after seeing this poster. Here is the press release with all of the details:

Warner Bros. has released the full details for their upcoming sci-fi action film All You Need is Kill, which is being directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. The studio also revealed that the movie will hit theaters on March 14th, 2014.
All You Need is Kill started production today, October 1st. It's an adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and it sounds like it's going to be an insanely awesome movie! The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. Cruise takes on the lead role and Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside him.
Are you excited to see how this project turns out?
