Andy Samberg is heading to PaleyFest LA.
The comedian is joining his old friend Seth Meyers at the event to toast the ten year anniversary of NBC’s Late Night.
Samberg and Meyers are old pals, the pair worked together on Saturday Night Live. Samberg regularly appears on Meyers show and the latter often calls up Samberg during his YouTube series Corrections for impressions. Samberg also seems to have a feud going with Meyers’ dog Frisbee.
Late Night with Seth Meyers launched on February 24, 2014. It is produced by Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video and is exec produced by Michaels, Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.
The group will be at PaleyFest LA on April 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Elsewhere on the lineup, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show will kick off the annual TV celebration with a screening and conversation with stars and executive producers Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

After Writers Guild of America waged a protest regarding the Television Academy‘s decision to move the outstanding writing for a variety series or special categories out of the upcoming Emmy telecast, the TV Academy has reversed course.
In a joint release sent out today, the Television Academy, Fox and the WGA said they were “happy to announce they have reached an agreement to include the Writing for a Variety Series category in the 75th Emmy Awards telecast airing live on Fox on January 15, 2024, at 8pm Est / 5pm Pst.”
Because this year’s Primetime Emmys has moved the variety special (live) category into the telecast (it was on the Creative Arts show last year), the TV Academy was likely looking to keep the telecast capped at 25 awards, so something had to fall out. And in this case, it was the variety writing field that originally got pushed to the Creative Arts ceremony.

Dua Lipa and Seth Meyers are going on an afternoon drinking session.
The Don’t Start Now star will feature in the latest iteration of Day Drinking, a segment for Meyers’ Late Night.
Previous day drinkers include Rihanna, Lizzo, Kelly Clarkson, Jonas Brothers and Lorde.
Meyers has recently joked that he has to be careful with the amount of times that they do the segment as the drinking is real and he’s got as bottle-hardened as he used to be.
The episode will air this evening on Deecmber 11.
It comes after Dua Lipa recently appeared in the Barbie movie and her single Dance The Night from the soundtrack was nominated for two Grammys.
Late Night with Seth Meyers is produced by Universal Television and Broadway Video, exec produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Mike Shoemaker.

Exclusive: Amber Ruffin has another scripted project in the works with NBCUniversal.
The comedian, who writes for Late Night with Seth Meyers and hosts The Amber Ruffin Show, has been developing an adaptation of You’ll Never Believe What Happened To Lacey, the book she wrote with her sister Lacey Lamar, for Peacock.
It comes after her last scripted project, her Non-Evil Twin pilot, did not move forward at NBC.
However, NBCUniversal remains keen to work with Ruffin, once the writers and actors strikes have ended. Ruffin and her writing partner Jenny Hagel signed an overall deal with Universal Television last year, through their new production company Straight To Cards.
It also comes as the future of her Peacock variety series The Amber Ruffin Show is unclear.

Exclusive: Christina Anthony (Mixed-ish), Ray Santiago (Ash vs. Evil Dead) and Melanie J. Newby (Halt & Catch Fire) are set as series regulars opposite Amber Ruffin in NBC comedy pilot Non-Evil Twin from Universal Television.
Written by Ruffin and Kenny Smith, the multi-camera pilot stars Ruffin playing the dual roles of twin sisters Angie and Amber. Angie is the ruthless CEO of AngieCorp, who is as heartless as she is rich. Angie instills fear in everyone she meets, except her caring sister, Amber, who only sees the good in her. Amber—a pushover when it comes to Angie—is forced to step in as the leader of AngieCorp, a Fortune 500 company, despite knowing little about business and even less about the way her sister has been running the corporation.
Anthony will play Christina, Angie’s assistant/acolyte who believes she’s the smartest person in the room and easily annoyed by others.

Molly Shannon brought back one of her cherished characters, Jeannie Darcy, a horrible stand-up comedian who can’t tell a joke, during her return to Saturday Night Live.
The sketch featured a commercial parody for a comedy special called “Jeannie Darcy: Selective Startage” — a take on Netflix’s first live special in March, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.
Shannon, dressed in a blue blazer with a mullet, didn’t hold back on the character’s iconic line, “Don’t get me started.”
“Have you heard of this TikTok thing? The only TikTok I hear is my biological clock,” she joked, receiving a dry response from the audience. “Don’t get me started. Don’t even get me started.”
After several flat jokes and a few awkward reactions from fellow “comedians” and “fans” during the show’s promo spoof, Shannon’s Darcy ended with one more joke, saying, “Got one of those new Tesla electric cars.

Exclusive: Dexter Darden (Chang Can Dunk), Chloe Bridges (Maggie) and Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) have joined the cast of Amber Ruffin and Kenny Smith NBC comedy pilot, Non-Evil Twin.
Darden plays Marcus, a contemporary nerd and tech developer for exercise equipment. He’s a good guy, but no fan of confrontation, which makes it hard for him to do the right thing at times. Bridges plays Robin, the CEO of Dandee Sports Apparel and Angie’s (Ruffin) corporate nemesis. She’s a self-described woman of faith who’s a shark in the boardroom. Buckley plays Samson, Angie’s not-so-bright lawyer who, in addition to providing legal counsel, provides Angie with anything she needs…be it copious amounts of rosé or sex.

“SNL” alums Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers reunited on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Tuesday, and during their interview, Samberg reminisced about the time he nearly had to fill in for Meyers – and the sketch ideas he had planned.
Tuesday was the first time Samberg has been on Meyers’ show in person since the series finale special for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which just so happened to occur the day after Meyers’ child was born. With Meyers unsure if he’d be able to do the show, executive producer Mike Shoemaker called up Samberg and asked if he could potentially fill in.
Samberg said he was ready to host and even had ideas planned until Meyers showed up. So on Tuesday night’s show, the “Digman!” co-creator and star ran through some of the sketch ideas he had.

“Late Night” loves its recurring comedy bits like the popular “A Closer Look” and “Day Drinking,” in which host Seth Meyers gets plastered while the sun’s still out with celebrities like Lizzo, Rihanna, and Ina Garten — but it’s hard to beat the simple genius of Meyers politely asking Fred Armisen, his buddy of 20 years, about launching his first celebrity fragrance or Armisen’s plan to come up with a competing Academy Awards show.
Unofficially referred to as “It’s Time to Ask Fred a Question,” it’s a brief improv exercise on steroids: When Armisen is on the show, serving as its occasional bandleader, Meyers asks the drummer an absurd question (“I heard you also made a bid for Twitter?”) They’re ones Armisen doesn’t know and can’t possibly anticipate: Seth comes up with the questions by himself, often at the last minute while he’s...

Meet the new team running CBS’ “Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” It’s largely the same team that has been managing the late-night program for years.
Colbert tells Variety he has no plans to bring another executive producer on board at present after Chris Licht left to take over management of Warner Bros. Discovery’s CNN in the spring.
“I am always open to producing the show in the most efficient manner. Right now, everything feels fantastic,” says Colbert in an interview to discuss “Pickled,” a new comedy-sports special he has produced with Funny or Die for CBS. “I miss Chris dearly as my friend. I wouldn’t want to run CNN.”
In September, Matt Lappin was named a co-executive producer of “The Late Show,” working alongside two other co-EPs, Tanya Michnevich Bracco and Denise Rehrig. Lappin has worked with Colbert for more than 25 years, including on “Colbert Report” and...

Fresh off the first Emmy nomination for “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in the Outstanding Variety Talk Series category, host Seth Meyers sat down with TheWrap for our inaugural video Ama to answer fan-submitted questions about everything from “SNL” memories to his favorite soup. Indeed, we relayed a diverse range of questions to Meyers that fully embodied the spirit of “Ask Me Anything,” and unsurprisingly the “Late Night” host was more than game to answer.
“I know you’re supposed to say you’re not excited about these things because they don’t matter, but I was deeply excited by the Emmy nomination,” Meyers said with a chuckle when asked how he was feeling about the show’s Emmy nomination for Variety Talk Series.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite Emmy-nominated television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
TV award historians can fact-check this, but “Corrections” might be the first gift to be Emmy-nominated.
The segment started last spring as simple way for “Late Night” host Seth Meyers to tell jokes to his longtime friend and producing partner Mike Shoemaker. From its online-only humble beginnings, the show has steadily grown its viewership and taken on its own mythology of winding, nested callbacks. The “jackals” — a name given to the collection of good-natured pedants who swoop into the comments section of “Late Night” YouTube videos to correct everything from pronunciations and pluralizaions to biological classifications to the history of German Expressionist cinema — now even have their own official merch.

Seth Meyers was trying to avoid being disappointed in front of his children on Emmy nomination morning, so he went for a run around New York City. He needn’t have worried. For the first time since he took the reins, Late Night with Seth Meyers earned a spot on Emmy’s Outstanding Variety Talk Series ballot.
Perversely, it was the pandemic that helped the former Saturday Night Live star find his groove. Forced to produce his show from the attic of his in-laws’ house for long stretches with only a painting of an old sea captain and worn copy of The Thorn Birds for company, Meyers ditched his suit and tie and took his show, which launched in 2014, to a more relaxed level. On the day of the Emmy nominations, Seth Meyers left his phone at home and set out for a jog — alone, save for his thoughts. He describes the run as “5 miles of lies.” He spent the time reminding himself of all the reasons being recognized by Television Academy isn’t the most important thing, reasons like his three children. “The whole affair was rather embarrassing,” he tells THR over the phone while preparing for the evening’s Late Night broadcast. “You look back at your list of why it wouldn’t have mattered and are like, ‘Oh boy, it definitely mattered.’ “
Meyers returned to a flurry of congratulatory texts and emails. For the very first time, his version of Late Night was nominated for outstanding variety talk series. The show has been nominated for seven overall Emmys, but he says that this category in particular feels special.

Seth Meyers has been open about how having to do remote editions of NBC’s Late Night during the Covid-19 pandemic ultimately benefited the show.
But while he’s since returned to hosting the show from its 30 Rock studio, he’s continued to sport his pandemic-era casual wardrobe.
“We made a choice not to go back to wearing suits, mostly because the show’s on at 12:30 [at night] and I don’t think anybody who’s watching is wearing a fucking suit,” Meyers told his former Saturday Night Live castmate Aidy Bryant during a talk at the Tribeca Festival last week. “If people were wearing suits in their home at 12:30, I would put my suit back on.”

Seth Meyers has made no secret of the fact that, during the pandemic, he and the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” team stumbled upon the purest form of the show. But while Meyers eventually returned to the studio and audiences came back last fall, the host still managed to carve out a piece of the series that continued the free-for-all spirit of his at-home shows: “Corrections.”
It began as an online-only bit. Sans-audience, Meyers recorded himself in the studio reading YouTube comments that were correcting errors he had made throughout that week’s show — and subsequently blasting the person who left the comment. But quickly, “Corrections” (which releases its 50th edition on Friday) morphed into something of an inside joke between him and his most loyal viewers.
“It’s like paying homage to that time we were gone,” Meyers told TheWrap during a recent interview. “And it’s also not just for us.

At last weekend’s Creative Arts Awards, “SNL” won for its lighting design, makeup, production design, and for the “Creating Saturday Night Live” short form series. That pushed the number to 76 for its 44 years on the air. No guest actors prevailed, although it had many chances with Sandra Oh, Emma Thompson, Matt Damon, Robert De Niro, John Mulaney and Adam Sandler all nominated. For this week’s ceremony, they lost out for Best Comedy Supporting Actress (Kate McKinnon) and for Best Variety Series Writing.

“Saturday Night Live” won Best Variety Sketch Series at Monday’s Primetime Emmy Awards, marking the first time the long-running show has defended a series award and extending its record haul to 72, the most of any program.
Though “SNL” has been on the air for 43 years, it has only won three series awards. It took home Best Variety Series in 1976 for its first season and again in 1993 for its 18th season. After the category was split into Best Variety Sketch Series and Best Variety Talk Series in 2015, “SNL” won the former last year for its buzzy, politically charged 42nd installment. It had leading 2/13 odds to repeat this year.

Over the weekend, NBC’s legendary variety program “Saturday Night Live” won seven more trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday night. It prevailed for comedy guest actress (Tiffany Haddish), variety directing (Don Roy King), music and lyrics, production design, lighting design, make-up and technical direction.
The show now has a mind-blowing 71 Emmy wins in its 43-year run, way ahead in the all-time record books for any series. The next closest series for the all-time marks held by “Game of Thrones” with 45 and “Frasier” with 37. “SNL” has got three more shots at the primetime ceremony on Monday, September 17, so how many more victories will it achieve to bump up its total haul even more? Another day, more TV revival news. This time it's The Munsters, the classic 1960s sitcom that NBC already attempted to revive with Mockingbird Lane back in 2012. Now, according to Deadline, Odd Mom Out creator and star Jill Kragman is taking a stab at bringing Herman, Lily, Eddie, Grandpa and Lily Munster back to television for the Peacock network. Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker are also on board as executive producers. The twist? This version will find the Munster family attempting to fit in with the hipsters of Brooklyn, no a Californian suburb. Bryan Fuller attempted to bring The Munsters back to TV with the hour-long drama Mockingbird Lane. Jerry O'Connell starred as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as...

Saturday Night Live’s Seth Meyer’s production company, Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, have begun development on a reboot of the 60’s classic comedy TV series The Munsters.
The show, which is being developed for Universal TV and NBC, is said to be following the same format as the original show with thirty-minute episodes and will focus on the Munster family trying to stay true to themselves while living in the hipster haven of Brooklyn.
Originally airing in 1964, the series only last two years with only seventy episodes under its belt before being dropped due to low ratings after the premiere of Batman. It followed a family of friendly, quirky monsters and was a satire of both traditional monster movies and the wholesome family fare of the era.
All the costumes and the characters, except one, were based on the classic films from Universal Studios between the 30’s and 40’s.

One of television's most iconic, frighteningly fun families are looking to return to the small screen, albeit in a new setting.
Deadline reports that a reboot of the 1960s TV series The Munsters is in the works at NBC from a script by Jill Kargman (Odd Mom Out), who will executive produce with Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.
Casting details are not yet known, but the new series is expected to be in a half-hour format with a single-camera approach. Also, instead of taking place in the California suburb of Mockingbird Heights, the new series would see the Munsters trying to blend in among their human counterparts in Brooklyn.
Back in 2012, NBC aired a one-hour (with commercials) Munsters Halloween special titled Mockingbird Lane. Developed by Bryan Fuller, the special was a pilot episode for a potential new series, but NBC didn't move forward with it.

“The Munsters” might be headed back to TV. NBC is developing a reboot of the classic sitcom, a person close to the network told TheWrap. The new comedy will be updated for the modern day. While the 1960s show dealt with a family of docile monsters — including a ripoff of Frankenstein’s monster and his bride — living in the suburbs, the new show will deal with a similarly offbeat family as they try to fit in in hipster Brooklyn. “Odd Mom Out’s” Jill Kargman is tapped to write and executive produce along with late night host Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.

When “Late Night with Seth Meyers” producer Mike Shoemaker teased that Amy Poehler, “Saturday Night Live” fans knew that meant one very exciting thing: another edition of “Really!?!”
She is the best. Really. pic.twitter.com/rTEomHvtFD
— Mike Shoemaker (@shoemakermike) June 21, 2017
The segment first popped up back when Poehler and Meyers were co-host of SNL’s “Weekend Update,” with the two taking aim at headline-makers like then-Senator Larry Craig and members of a Congressional committee on birth control. (A new addition to the canon is always exciting, but nothing tops that combo of the old graphic with Don Pardo intro’ing the title.)
When Poehler left the show for Pawnee pastures, Meyers kept the “Really!?!” flame alive, co-delivering the indignation with Kermit the Frog (who knew he was so passionate about Twizzlers and Hot Pockets!) and an also-returning Tina Fey.
With Poehler in town promoting her upcoming summer comedy “The House,” it made sense that another desk-sharing “Late Night” moment would be in the works. For this particular go-around, the two focused on the protests of the Public Theatre’s production of “Julius Caesar” depicting the ruler as Trump-like with insight into Tuesday’s news that Daniel Day-Lewis would be retiring from acting.
Though many of the “Really!?!”s touched on political news, this isn’t the first time the two have focused their laser questions elsewhere. The first time Poehler and Meyers re-teamed for the segment, the pair took aim at a pair of sports commentators who claimed that women’s soccer wasn’t worth watching.
“Really!?!” Reunion, Vol. IV is another notch in a great June for “Late Night,” which has already seen the show’s “Closer Look” segments continue to trend, another scorching edition of “Ya Burnt” and one of the most delightful bloopers in the show’s history. Keep it coming, folks.

Meyers, who hosts NBC’s “Late Night,” is executive producing with Mike Shoemaker and Andrew Singer (“Portlandia,” “30 Rock”).
