In the wake of "The X-Files" revival and "Fuller House," which show that poor and scathing reviews respectively aren't an impediment to nostalgia-fueled ratings and on demand success, it comes as little surprise that many are talking about other older TV series making a potential comeback with their original cast members.
One show that isn't likely to get a reunion though is The WB's "Charmed," the eight season-long supernatural drama which starred Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan as sisters who use their magical powers to fight off evil. CBS tried to revive the series with a pilot for a reboot in 2013. "Party of Five" creator Christopher Keyser and partner Sydney Sidner were behind the script for that, but the project is still in development at last report.

CBS wants to reboot "Charmed," but the original show's cast members don't agree that this is a good idea. Following the lead of Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano has tweeted her opinion on the "reimagination": She feels that "Charmed" is still "too close" for a new show.
On Friday (Oct. 25), CBS announced that it wanted to create a new version of "Charmed" from "Party of Five" producer Chris Keyser and Sydney Sidner. The original series ran from 1998 to 2006 on The WB and starred Milano, McGowan, Holly Marie Combs and Shannen Doherty as sisters and witches who battled evil.
Milano's Twitter response came later on the same day:
"The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is... it just... it feels like yesterday. It feels too close."
In posting this, Milano joined her former castmate McGowan in not being impressed by a show coming back only 7 years after it went off the air.

CBS shows have migrated to younger skewing sibling the CW — CBS pilot Ringer became a CW series, and defunct CBS vampire drama Moonlight got a second run on the sister network. Now for the first time, there is migration in the other direction, with CBS looking to reboot a series from the CW predecessor, the WB. CBS has given a script order to Charmed, a reimagining of the original series centered around four sisters who discover their destiny – to battle against the forces of evil using their witchcraft. Created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Spelling TV, Charmed aired on the WB for eight seasons, concluding just before the network’s merger with Upn to form the CW in 2006. Netflix has proven powerful once more: its second-most-binged show, Charmed, has been given a second life on a new network.
The witch drama originally ran on the WB from 1998-2006 but it will fly over to CBS for a brand-new reboot, Vulture reports. The first run starred Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan (who replaced Doherty in Season Four) and was produced by Aaron Spelling of Beverly Hills, 90210 fame.

Now that NBC has their grubby little paws on CBS' "Murder, She Wrote," the Eye is getting into the reboot game as well with plans to revive "Charmed."
Just a day after the "Murder, She Wrote" revival was revealed, Vulture reports on Friday (Oct. 25) that TV's No. 1 network is in the early stages of a remake of Aaron Spelling's witchy WB drama. "Party of Five" co-creator Chris Keyser and partner Sydney Sidner are co-writing the project.
Insiders are describing the planned project as a "re-imagining" of the original series starring Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan as a sisterhood of witches who uses their powers for good. CBS TV Studios, which owns the rights to the entirety of the Spelling library, will produce alongside the Tannenbaum Company. The network has simply ordered a script for a pilot, however; no commitment to filming anything has been made.
