This is the second year for the Makeup and Hairstylists Guild joining the awards game, and they've been a welcome addition to the circuit. They spread their nods thin across a number of categories, but it's a good window into what this branch digs, for sure. This year, the only two films on the Academy's bake-off list of finalists that didn't garner any recognition were "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Noah." Meaning "Foxcatcher," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Maleficent" and "The Theory of Everything" were each represented in one form or another. Meanwhile, "Guardians of the Galaxy" led with the most mentions at three, while "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Interstellar" and "Into the Woods" each got a pair. As previously announced, Oscar-winning make-up artist Rick Baker and Emmy-nominated hair stylist Kathryn Blondell will receive the Guild's Lifetime Achievement Awards. Check out the full list of nominees below,...

Wrestling legend Mick Foley is the godfather of ear-related fight injuries (sorry, Evander), so when Ufc fighter Leslie Smith had her's bashed in over the weekend ... who better than Mick to offer up support. In case you missed it, Smith was fighting at Ufc 180 in Mexico City when she took a right hand to the head that turned her left ear into mush. It's as gross as it sounds.Foley -- who had his ear...

During the prelims of Ufc 180 this past Saturday night, viewers saw one of the most grotesque in cage injuries imaginable take place: Leslie Smith’s ear nearly fell clean off her head after taking damage from opponent Jessica Eye. The ear had heavy cauliflowering, and such injuries are common in the world of pro fighting and amateur wrestling, though it’s not often you see an example as bad as this one. Smith, proving she’s one of the toughest women alive, went the “tis but a scratch!” route, and attempted to continue the fight with blood gushing out of the side of her head, but the cage-side doctor knew better, and stopped the fight, giving Eye the victory.
That said, Smith earned herself a bunch of new fans by showing heart, determination, and, if you pardon the gender type, testicular fortitude.
That was not lost of WWE legend Mick Foley,...

At first glance, Ufc Fight Night 45 (the event’s numeric title) is one of those cards that looks more like an action-packed preliminary card leading into a PPV more than it does an event in itself. Both the prelims and the main event air on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S., with just one bout on Ufc Fight Pass – the first ever women’s strawweight bout in the Ufc, between Cláudia Gadelha and Tina Lähdemäki.
While it’s not a couple of huge names – the bulk of the strawweight division will be brought in via The Ultimate Fighter 20, which will crown a champion at the end of the season – it’s still a milestone, and there’s a question as to why it’s airing on Fight Pass in the first place. In fact, either of the Wmma bouts on this card are worthy of being on the main portion...

Toronto – An Ohio documentary maker that went into the British Columbia wilderness to capture footage of giant bears is now the subject of an expanding police search and rescue operation. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in New Hazelton, B.C. say Warren Andrew Sill was not an experienced outdoors man, prompting a search of the Whiskey Creek trail in the Seven Sisters Provincial Park after his SUV vehicle was reported missing on July 10. Rcmp spokeswoman Constable Lesley Smith told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday that multiple search and rescue teams are looking at the prospect that Sill may

Talk about a down to earth duchess. On Sunday, the Duchess of Cambridge joined inner-city schoolchildren on a camping trip in Kent. The group of 28 eight and nine-year-olds built tents and made campfires on a weekend designed to help develop their confidence and teamwork skills. Kate, 30, (who also spent the day Friday with local children) joined some of the campers under their makeshift shelters and on a ramble through the woods. And, of course, she answered their questions about life as a princess. "It's very busy and great fun but I am very well looked after," Kate told one child.
