- Nancy was born to a well to do Jewish family in Philadelphia. She was a hyperactive child, reportedly throwing suicidal cursing fits at the age of eight and abusing heroin by 15. At 19 she became a groupie, following such bands as Aerosmith, Bad Company, and The Ramones. She moved with a friend to London, and briefly worked as a prostitute. She met Sex Pistols bass player Sid Vicious one night, after she slammed her knuckles against a brick wall during a bar brawl. They quickly moved in together, and during their 21-month relationship, used heroin daily. Their destructive personalities and lifestyles, as well as Sid's emotional dependence on her, hurt the Sex Pistols' performance and the band split up during its US tour. Sid and Nancy moved to the famous Chelsea Hotel in New York City where Sid tried, with little success, to revive his musical career. Fueled by lack of money, increased drug abuse and reports of domestic violence, the pair seemed destined for a tragic end. That end came on October 12, 1978, when Nancy's partially-clothed body was found in their hotel bathroom, stabbed in the stomach with Sid's knife. Sid was charged with the murder, but died of a heroin overdose (likely suicidal) in February 1979 while out on bail. Sid directed that his ashes be poured over Nancy's grave.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Anonymous
- Nancy Spungen was born on 2/27/58 to Frank and Deborah Spungen. The eldest of three children, Nancy was a difficult child who began displaying behavioral problems in early childhood. Although academically bright (her IQ score was in the superior range), she had difficulty making friends and displayed aggressive behavior towards her family and mental health professionals. Nancy was treated with a number of psychotropic medications including anti-psychotics and by the time she reached high school she was in a number of residential facilities to treat her poly-substance abuse. She briefly attended college but dropped out after a year. Nancy had always loved music and after dropping out of college, she became a full-time groupie in the Philadelphia rock scene. After tiring of the rock scene in Philadelphia, she moved to New York City at the age of seventeen, where she hung out at Max's Kansas City and CBGB's with Sable Starr, Debbie Harry, and the New York Dolls. Nancy reportedly worked as a stripper to finance her growing heroin addiction. She also developed a fixation on Jerry Nolan of the New York Dolls, who reportedly did not return her ardor, and followed him to London in early 1976. While in London she met the Sex Pistols, and was introduced to Sid Vicious by Johnny Rotten after she unsuccessfully tried to develop a relationship with him. Spungen and Vicious-who was at the height of his fame with the Sex Pistols-quickly developed a co-dependent relationship, and Sid developed a heroin addiction that would ultimately end his life. The other members of the Sex Pistols disliked Nancy and with the help of their manager, Malcolm McLaren, attempted to put her on plane to New York, to no avail. Following the Sex Pistol's breakup, Sid and Nancy moved to New York in the fall of 1978 in the hopes of establishing a solo career. With Nancy as his manager, the couple moved into the Chelsea Hotel on West 23rd Street. In October 1978, Nancy was found dead in the bathroom of room 100 with a hunting knife in her stomach. While Sid was charged with her murder, much speculation still exists concerning whether he was in fact her killer. In February of 1979, Vicious was found dead of a heroin overdose in the West Village apartment of his then-girlfriend, Michelle Robinson. Nancy's mother, Deborah Spungen, wrote a book about Nancy titled, "And I Don't Want To Live This Life."- IMDb Mini Biography By: Anonymous
