When Eric Raingruber struck up a conversation with Sean Stencil
about Star Wars on the playground in 1981, neither of them had any
inkling that their brief encounter would shape the course of their
lives. Soon after, they began producing short films with the help of
Sean's father. In 1998 Cornerstone Pictures was renamed Cornerstone Studios and
offices were moved to the 12th floor above the Double Tree Hotel in
Modesto, where their business flourished until they outgrew their space
in 2001. After a year-long search for a new location, they stumbled upon a 2.6
acre property which had been a Christian television studio. Within a
few months they purchased the property which includes animation
buildings, offices, edit suites and a sound stage, allowing them to
pursue a wide range of productions including The Bible Boat, along with
a new lineup of feature films. In 2019, Stencil produced the period TV series The Wanderer for Pure Flix. This led to another Pure Flix production, Love is on the Air, a romantic comedy starring Jason London and John Schneider. Working on a large slate of projects, Stencil continues to develop and produce family friendly content.
