After “Buffy” and “Firefly” and “Dr. Horrible” and “The Avengers,” we didn’t think it was possible to love Joss Whedon any more than we already did. We were wrong.
Mr. Whedon has surprised and delighted us once again with his portrayal of Gerald, a white-hat-wearing, monster-fighting hero in “Scary Smash,” the first installment of a new YouTube series called “Written By A Kid.” Check it out below!
Tom Lenk, who worked with Whedon on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Much Ado About Nothing,” told MTV News recently, “Sometimes I think he should be a full-time actor [as well as all the other stuff he does].” After seeing “Scary Smash,” we heartily agree.
Major kudos must also be given to Whedon’s co-stars Dave Foley and Kate Micucci, series creators Will Bowles and Josh Flaum, producer/director/editor Daniel Strange, co-executive producer Felicia Day (Whedonverse actress and creator of “The Guild”), and Brett Baligad, the...

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.

Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. How do you put that much action down on...

If you're into classic toys and cartoons, then for you G.I. Joe probably never left. But for most of us, the arrival of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra in theaters has brought the Real American Heroes back into the spotlight, which means one thing -- it's time for a little parody. Fans of Adult Swim's Robot Chicken are used to seeing their Saturday morning heroes get a little postmodern treatment, and over at Funny or Die they've gotten in on the action with The Ballad of G.I. Joe ... and just because it's a joke that's been done before doesn't mean that it isn't still pretty darn funny.
The song was written by Daniel Strange and Kevin Umbricht, and gives you a glimpse of what the Joe team is up to after a hard day of battling for the American way -- and I'll just say that...

Did you guys see G.I. Joe this past weekend? If you did, perhaps the film left you with some unanswered questions. Questions like what the Joes do when they're not off fighting Cobra, and vice versa. Daniel Strange & Kevin Umbricht created this ballad to illustrate that downtime, featuring a cast that's way more impressive than the actual G.I. Joe movie (Henry Rollins as Duke is the most logical choice in the history of choosing things).
It's got:
Laz Alonso as Doc
Alexis Bledel as Lady Jaye
Billy Crudup as Zartan
Zach Galifianakis as Snow Job
Tony Hale as Dr. Mindbender
Vinnie Jones as Destro
Joey Kern as Tomax
Joey Kern as Xamot
Chuck Liddell as Gung Ho
Julianne Moore as Scarlett
Henry Rollins as Duke
Alan Tudyk as Shipwreck
Olivia Wilde as The Baroness
and
Sgt. Slaughter as Himself

Funny Or Die's GI Joe parody probably has a bigger all-star cast than the actual movie. Written by Daniel Strange & Kevin Umbricht, The Ballad of GI Joe shows us what the GI Joes do in their off time for fun, through a brilliant musical number. The list of stars features include: Laz Alonso as Doc, Alexis Bledel as Lady Jaye, Billy Crudup as Zartan, Zach Galifiankais as Snow Job, Tony Hale as Dr. Mindbender, Vinnie Jones as Destro, Joey Kern as Tomax and Xamot, Chuck Liddell as Gung Ho, Julianne Moore as Scarlett, Henry Rollins as Duke, Alan Tudyk as Shipwreck, Olivia Wilde as The Baroness, and Sgt. Slaughter as Himself. Watch the video embedded after the jump.
