Olivia Williams, the BAFTA-winning actress and recent SAG Awards nominee as an ensemble member for her performance as Camilla Parker Bowles on “The Crown,” has worked on the British stage in classic and new productions. But in a new interview, she points to a beloved American sitcom as an “alarming” and “harrowing” experience when compared to other gigs.
Williams appeared as a bridesmaid in the fourth season finale, in which Ross (David Schwimmer) married Emily (Helen Baxendale) in London. (You may recall some zany hijinks at some historic landmarks.) Speaking with The Independent, the actress recalled the “alarming” experience of sharing a car with an elderly actress Williams described as “distinguished” and “very good” who was later berated by a producer and told, “You’re not funny!” According to Williams, the unnamed performer was not on set the following day.
“‘Friends’ was a brand,” she continued, “and you had to fit the brand.

Rebel Wilson has doubled down on the claims of harassment against her The Brothers Grimsby co-star Sacha Baren Cohen. After accusing him of s*xually harassing her on the set of their movie, Wilson now claims that The Dictator actor ridiculed her for her size in the film. She added that the film even chose costumes that exploited her size and made her something to be laughed at.

Rebel Wilson has revealed that her Grimsby co-star Sacha Baron Cohen is the previously unnamed Hollywood “asshole” that is allegedly attempting to stop her writing about him in her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising.
A spokesperson for Baron Cohen told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”
Last week, in an Instagram post, Wilson revealed that she intended to dedicate a whole chapter in her book to “a massive asshole” she had previously worked with in Hollywood, although she didn’t reveal the person’s name, the project they worked on together or provide any further details.

Through a spokesman, Sacha Baron Cohen is disputing characterizations by actress Rebel Wilson that he behaved like a “massive a**hole” while shooting the Louis Leterrier-directed hard R-rated comedy The Brothers Grimsby. She played the wife of his character Nobby, a soccer hooligan who is enlisted by his secret agent brother (Mark Strong) to thwart a plan to set off two bombs during a football match. The film is full of outrageous comic scenes, and Wilson claimed Baron Cohen pressured her to appear nude and do other unsavory things.

What Do We Know About Dune Prophecy? More than you may think. With the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel a critical and box office success, it is going to be several years before we see the next feature film in the series, Dune Messiah. Luckily, production on the small-screen prequel /spin-off was concurrent with Dune: Part Two which means before the end of the year we are going to return to the fictional realms of Arrakis, Geidi Prime, and more via Max.
While not much in the way of footage has made its way online, there have been quite a few reveals about Dune Prophecy, so let’s jump in and discuss.

The original plan was for Villeneuve to helm the series in addition to his big screen directorial duties. The series, originally announced as Dune: The Sisterhood,...

"The future of humanity is in her hands." Netflix has unveiled the first look teaser trailer for a sci-fi movie called Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez – making it another star-driven expensive spectacle that will release this summer streaming on Netflix. Yet another artificial intelligence-related sci-fi movie, since it's the big tech trend of the moment, everyone has to make movies about it. Atlas is set in a bleak future, where an A.I. soldier has determined that the only way to end war is to end humanity. Lopez plays a data analyst with a deep distrust of A.I., who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it. Along with Lopez, this stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, & Mark Strong. From the looks of it, this is almost a pro-a.

On the movie screen, Jennifer Lopez is known for being a romantic comedy queen in films like "Maid in Manhattan," "Monster-in-Law," and "Marry Me." However, on Netflix, she appears to be pursuing a wholly different crown and going after action movie and genre glory. Sure, Lopez has made her share of genre thrillers, especially early in her career: "Money Train," "Anaconda," "U Turn," and "Out of Sight," most notably. Yet it's her turn in 2023's "The Mother" that marked her debut as a fully-fledged action star and now she's following that up with a lead performance in a big-budget sci-fi shoot 'em up, if the new trailer for Netflix's "Atlas" is any indication.
As a co-producer as well as star of "Atlas," Lopez has put together a pretty promising team to bring her next Netflix-distributed action venture to life. Alongside co-stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, and Mark Strong, the...

So, the Oscars have been and gone and there were few surprises in the acting categories. Cillian Murphy won Best Actor for “Oppenheimer” while Best Actress went to Emma Stone (“Poor Things”). Best Supporting Actor was taken home by Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph claimed Best Supporting Actress for “The Holdovers.” But let’s not spend too much time looking back. Let’s look forward. With that in mind, what have these four acting winners got coming up next?
Murphy won his first Oscar for portraying J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan‘s biopic. His next project is “Small Things Like These,” which just premiered to great acclaim at Berlinale. Directed by BAFTA nominee Tim Mielants, the film follows Murphy as a father in 1985 who uncovers the shocking secrets of the local convent.

"I'm not a bad person." That line, spoken with a soft grumble by Mark Strong, appeared in every trailer and TV spot for Low Winter Sun in the summer of 2013. With the final episodes of its blockbuster crime drama Breaking Bad looming, AMC was looking to launch its next dark, antiheroic drama. Just like Walter White, Strong's character was clearly a bad person: Observe as he took a swig from a bottle of brown liquor and then submerged a man’s head in the sink of a restaurant kitchen. Low Winter Sun, AMC seemed to promise, was about to become the next great TV show where bad men do bad things and sometimes pretend they're good men doing bad things.

When it comes British cinema, 2024 couldn’t have got off to much more of a flying start than with the release of The End We Start From. It’s been adapted from the Megan Hunter novel by Alice Birch (who has written for Succession and Normal People). It’s directed by British director Mahalia Belo (who won a Bafta for her TV movie Ellen), and stars Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Katherine Waterson and Jodie Comer. Waterson and Comer were nominated for best lead and best supporting performances at last month’s British independent film awards.

Fans of the acclaimed Batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan have a reason to celebrate, as the filmmaker has announced his return to the DC universe with a new project: ‘The Dark Knight Returns’. The film, based on the 1986 comic book miniseries by Frank Miller, will feature Christian Bale reprising his role as the Caped Crusader in a dystopian future.
‘The Dark Knight Returns’ is set 10 years after Batman’s retirement, as Gotham City is plagued by crime and corruption. An aging Bruce Wayne decides to don the cape and cowl again, facing old and new enemies, including the Joker, Two-Face, and a gang of violent mutants. He also has to deal with the opposition of the police and the government, who see him as a vigilante and a threat. The story culminates with a showdown with Superman, who has become a pawn of the state.

Vikings star Katheryn Winnick made her character Lagertha — a shield maiden, or female warrior — as tough and determined as any of the male warriors fighting in bloody battles on the popular history drama.
And she’s a a kick-ass woman in real life, having earned her first black belt at 13 and opened three martial arts studios in her native Toronto by age 21. But Winnick says her onscreen bravado in Vikings is nothing compared to the fighting spirit she has seen among the Ukrainian people as they defend her family’s ancestral homeland against a continuing Russian onslaught.
“Yes, I may play a warrior on TV. But they’re the real warriors,” Winnick tells The Hollywood Reporter as her fundraising efforts include serving as a UNITED24 Ambassador, alongside fellow actors Liev Schreiber, Mark Strong and Mark Hamill, and her charity The Winnick Foundation partnering with Ukrainian organizations to help rebuild the country.

Are disaster movies about climate change getting more realistic, or is the real world simply starting to resemble a disaster movie about climate change? To judge by Mahalia Belo’s “The End We Start From,” a despairing and all-too-conceivable thriller in which an unnamed woman (Jodie Comer) struggles to protect her newborn baby after a massive flood makes the whole of England go a little “Children of Men,” the answer to that question is regrettably “both.” Ah, how I long for the days when a Hollywood blockbuster about Jake Gyllenhaal trying to survive a now-routine New York weather system was marketed as a piece of escapism.
There are no giant waves in this small-scale British film about an entire society coming apart at the seams — no shots of the London Eye being knocked into the Thames, nor scenes in which panicked scientists look over data so ominous they can only...
