The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is facing backlash over this year’s Golden Globe nominations for Best Director. The five filmmakers who earned a nomination this year are all men: Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water”), Martin McDonagh (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”), Ridley Scott (“All the Money in the World”), and Steven Spielberg (“The Post”).
Considering what a strong year it was for women and minority directors like Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele, Dee Rees, and Patty Jenkins, it’s especially unfortunate how male-dominated the race is this year. Del Toro is the only minority nominated in what many people agree should’ve been a banner year for an inclusive Best Director race.

Many pundits expected at least Gerwig or Peele to earn a Best Director nomination at the Globes.

For Molly Tarlov, one of the sweetest parts of her wedding day—besides, you know, getting married—was all of the food.
“When it’s you’re wedding you basically get to pick your dream meal and actually eat it!” the star of MTV’s Awkward tells People. “Plus I hadn’t eaten bread in a while, so it was great to dive into some sourdough.”
Tarlov, who tied the knot to Honor Society drummer, Alexander Noyes, at Palm Springs’ Colony 29 on Saturday, served up a variety of light bites and family-style entrees for her guests. To start, passed hors d’oeuvres like tuna tartar,...

MTV star Molly Tarlov stunned when she tied the knot with drummer Alexander Noyes in Palm Springs on Saturday. The Awkward actress wore a beautiful off-the-shoulder gown featuring lace sleeves, while her other half looked dapper in a black tux. The couple - who got engaged back in June 2015 - said "I do" in front of their family and friends, including costar Jillian Rose Reed, The Mindy Project's Xosha Roquemore, and Eli Roth. "The most fun were the little things we stumbled upon deciding to do that really reflect us, like The Cactus and The Rose logo, the neon sign and I, of course, had a lot of fun putting pink roses anywhere possible," Molly told People. "The most challenging for me was definitely the two weeks leading up to the wedding. We had a lot of mishaps and more than that, I couldn't believe we put ourselves through...

The people may love em', but they don't love their fashion. Sad to say some of our favorite gals ranked on the People's Choice Awards all-time worst dressed list, namely Jessica Alba. Before she consistently made the best-dressed list, she had a major floral mishap on the Pca red carpet back in 2001. Awkward actress Molly Tarlov looked, well, awkward in a caped black gown at last year's show. Even Beauty and the Beast star Kristin Kreuk missed the mark in 2013 with a busy one-shoulder tulle and sequined dress. And let's not forget about Jennifer Love Hewitt's shiny cerulean strapless...

With her prior relationship breakup, as well as the loss to the sophomore class this year, it’s clear that Tamara’s year is not going as envisioned. Furthermore, her desire to rekindle her relationship begins to infringe on her other activities this week.

Awkward., Season 4, Episode 03: “Touched by an Angel”
Written by Jenna Lamia
Directed by Jay Karas
Airs Tuesdays at 10 Pm on MTV
Jenna’s forced silence in last week’s episode showed the importance of having someone who listens. This importance was driven home by the reveal of Matty’s adoption, and that his quietness had nothing to do with Jenna, as she had feared. The revelation emphasized to Jenna how self-centred her thinking had become. This week’s episode sees her try to willingly be there for others in need, including Matty, in an entertaining episode that highlights the difference in how Tamara and Jenna handle similar situations.
Jenna seeking self-respect while trying to expand her viewpoint to include others is an interesting conflict. Over the course of the show’s run, it has been clear that, while Jenna has kept herself as the centre of focus,...

Written by Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini
Directed by Peter Lauer
Airs Tuesdays at 10 Pm on MTV
The ending of the third season of Awkward. saw Jenna end up single, yet on her way towards personal happiness following a year of turmoil. Her lack of a partner made her unique amongst her friends, as Jake and Tamara had moved past their first major fight, and Matty and Bailey were beginning a new relationship, with Ming giving up the Asian mafia for Fred. The season opener this week brings the stress of senior year down on everyone as Jenna adjusts to a level of irrelevance that comes at a bad time, in an enjoyable episode that sets up some promising stories.

Chicago – In November of 2013, the 31st annual Chicago Lgbt International Film Festival, also known as “Reeling31,” provided a week long showcase for gay filmmakers. There were many new voices in the mix, and they were on the Red Carpet on opening night of the Fest.
HollywoodChicago.com was on the scene, which took place at the historic Music Box Theatre in Chicago. The stars of the opening night feature film. “G.B.F,” were there for interviews and photos, plus filmmakers and actors from the films “Burning Blue,” “The Happy Sad’ and “Truth” – which were shown throughout the week – also walked the fabled Red Carpet.
The “Reeling” Festival is currently sponsoring a free film series in Chicago, the fourth annual “Cinema Q.” The last week of the series will present “De-Lovely” (2004) – starring Kevin Kline as Cole Porter – on March 26th, 6:30pm, at Chicago’s Cultural Center, 78 East Washington Street.

Here's a little good news/bad news situation regarding "Awkward." When Season 4 debuts, two faces won't be returning: Ming and Collin.
When the new "Awkward" showrunners Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler spoke to Buzzfeed for the first time since taking over the MTV critical darling from creator Lauren Iungerich (who left the series in June), they revealed the casting change-up, of which one-half was deeply upsetting.
"Jessica Lu [who plays Ming] is not returning," Alberghini says. "She wanted to move on." Ming was Jenna's Bff, and for a brief time was the head of the Asian Mafia, a hilarious and quirky B story arc that will also not be returning in the new season. Her absence will definitely be missed, as she's been a major part of the series since day one.
While the new showrunners didn't explain why Nolan Funk will also be Mia for the new season, it's not hard to...

Award season finally began on Wednesday (Jan. 8) with the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards. It's time for Hollywood to step up their A-game and rock their red carpet looks. Of course, we know that won't always happen. In fact, it didn't.
Heidi Klum and her origami shoulder showed off more cleavage than probably appropriate for the event. At least, that's what we thought until we got a look at "Trophy Wife" star Malin Akerman and that strange gown of hers. And "Skarknado" star Cassie Scerbo -- what is that? No, seriously, can someone tell us?
Melissa Joan Hart showed up rocking her grandmother's wallpaper-turned-mullet dress. She shouldn't have.
Whoever told Lucy Hale this was a good look was a true pretty little liar. (Get it?)
It's a cheap joke, but this look on "Awkward." star Jillian Rose Reed is, well, awkward. Where exactly is she going? To a drag queen's junior prom?...

MTV's hit dramedy "Awkward" is heading to an entirely new, dark place in the back half of Season 3, kicking off Tuesday (Oct. 22).
Jenna (Ashely Rickards) made the shocking choice to cheat on her all-around perfect boyfriend Matty (Beau Mirchoff) in the Season 3A finale, and that one choice will catapult her and everyone around her onto a new path that no one expected to see. "Beginning of Season 3B, we're picking up where we don't even know if Matty has seen her and Collin making out," Rickards tells Zap2it. "Going into this episode, it's so unclear about who knows what and what's out of the bag, let alone what Jenna's going to do about it. There's a lot to catch up on."
So how will Jenna's choices affect everyone around her, and what's coming up for everyone in the second half of Season 3?

Apparently the ‘Awkward’ star was very excited about ‘Nsync’s Vma reunion. She even predicted that she was going to go into labor whenever the iconic boy band took the stage. Now That would have been quite a twist in the show!
Nikki Deloach, who plays Lacey Hamilton on MTV’s show Awkward, was literally bursting with happiness and anticipation over ‘Nsync’s reunion performance during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards – so much in fact, that the star predicted that she would go into premature labor when they took the stage!

Nikki and her Awkward co-stars were interviewed by Red Carpet Report hosts Grimes and Rachel Antonoff. During the interview, the pregnant star admitted that she could become the first star to give birth at the VMAs. “Honestly, it’s a possibility,” she said. “I’m a little close.”

Vertical Entertainment Acquires 'G.B.F,' a Tale of Gay Best Friends and Their Role in Clique Warfare
Vertical Entertainment has acquired all North American rights to the high school comedy film "G.B.F." (Gay Best Friend). Directed by Darren Stein ("Jawbreaker") with screenplay by George Northy, the film has a cast of young up-and-comers including Sasha Pieterse ("Pretty Little Liars"), Evanna Lynch (The Harry Potter Franchise), Natasha Lyonne ("Orange is the New Black"), Joanna "JoJo" Levesque ("Rv," "Aquamarine"), Paul Iacono ("The Hard Times of Rj Berger"), Michael J. Willett ("United States of Tara"), Molly Tarlov ("Awkward"), and Rebecca Gayheart ("Jawbreaker") and features Megan Mullally ("Parks and Recreation," "The Kings of Summer"). "G.B.F" plays with the concept of a G.B.F. (a Gay Best Friend) and how they have become a trendy and invaluable accessory for straight girls to have in their cliques. Tanner (Michael J. Willett) is the Gbf everyone wants (including Sasha Pieterse)
In the fine tradition of teen comedies like Clueless, Pretty In Pink, Mean Girls and even darker films like the original Carrie, comes the new film, G.B.F., which fabulously dives into the world of the Gay Best Friend. Directed by Darren Stein (Jawbreaker) from a script by George Northy, the film follows high schooler Tanner (Michael J. Willett) as he navigates the treacherous waters of high school after coming out.
In the world of G.B.F., there’s less opposition to Tanner being gay than the comedy found in how people want to be close to the cute gay guy. The popular girls compete for Tanner’s friendship, even helping him with a makeover; at least one closeted guy (the Bf of one of the girls) makes a pass at him and, at the end of the day, he...

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you haven’t watched this week’s ‘Awkward!’
Is Awkward even a comedy anymore? Because after witnessing Jenna’s (Ashley Rickards) actions on the June 11 mid-season finale, I’ll tell you one thing: I ain’t laughin’.
I’m referring, of course, to her unpardonable sin, the one thing we’ve all been fearing would come since the first episode of the season: She kissed Collin (Nolan Funk)! Yes, it was passionate. Yes, it was epic. But most importantly, it was wrong.
To be honest, I don’t really care what’s going on in Jenna’s head; Matty (Beau Mirchoff) has been the perfect boyfriend this season — not only has he put up with her incessant pity parties, but he even learned how to dance/give good face for her — and what she did this week was unforgivable.

But was she able to squash it completely? Things aren’t looking too good for ‘Team Matty.’
What the hell is wrong with Jenna (Ashley Rickards)? After acing another super-inappropriate writing assignment on the June 4 episode of Awkward, she admitted to herself that she’s indeed in a “flirtationship” with Collin (Nolan Funk). This girl, I swear.
And no matter how much Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) urged her to crush the crush — while simultaneously coining adorable terms like “flirtationship” — the ever-fickle Ms. Hamilton couldn’t keep herself from fantasizing about her new pen pal.
She eventually gave Matty (Beau Mirchoff) a copy of her very-telling writing assignment, but as always, Matty was barely able to read the words on the paper — let alone between the lines, which would reveal a hopeless crush on Collin; or as I’ll always think of him, ‘that other evil Warbler from Glee.’
Sadie, What Are You Doing?...

On the May 28 episode of Awkward, Team Matty and Team Jake will finally be able to unite under a common enemy: Team Colin! Jenna (Ashley Rickards) has been casually inching closer to brooding bookworm Colin (Nolan Funk) all season, but sparks will really start to fly when they come together for a live reading of their work — and you can bet Jenna’s mom will have a few thoughts on the matter.
“She’s a huge Team Matty supporter,” Nikki DeLoach tells HollywoodLife.com of Lacey. “She’s going to have some very specific thoughts on Colin. … Any time a new boy, or a new person in general, comes into the picture … you’re so affected by them. That’s what happens in middle school and high school; you become those you hang out with.
