The Simpsons return to their prehistoric roots in this surprising parody of the Adult Swim cartoon Primal.
Recently aired on March 24, Episode 13 of Season 35 of The Simpsons features an unexpected parody of Primal, the adult-animated action series by Cartoon Network legend Genndy Tartakovsky. The episode, titled "Clan of the Cave Mom," revolves around the motherly confrontation between Marge Simpson and Luann Van Houten over the negative influence Bart has on Milhouse. As the story unfolds, the episode periodically shifts from modern times to 20,000 years in the past. It's here that the Simpsons are drawn as prehistoric savages in the style of Tartakovsky's cartoon. And, the creator honored the episode on his official Instagram account.

The following contains major spoilers for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 3, Episode 9, "The Harbinger," now streaming on Disney+.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch has become an increasingly articulate and nuanced series. Season 3, Episode 9 "The Harbinger" is a great example of the Disney+ show's staying power: full of captivating action, startlingly affecting emotion, and deeply resonant themes. Taking traditional Star Wars philosophies and pushing them into exciting and often unexpected territory, "The Harbinger" is one of the best TV episodes in Star Wars history.
After returning to their home base of Pabu, Omega and Batcher discover an unwanted visitor in the caverns of the island: bounty hunter Asajj Ventress. First introduced in Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2003 Clone Wars series and developed substantially, both in Dave Filoni’s own The Clone Wars series and in novels such as Christie Golden’s Dark Disciple, Ventress comes tearing into the world of Bad Batch in ways that are surprising.

Anakin Skywalker's mysterious scar remains unexplained in Star Wars films or TV shows, leaving fans intrigued. An older Dark Horse Comics story provides the best explanation for Anakin getting his scar from Asajj Ventress. George Lucas stated the scar symbolizes Anakin's growth as a Jedi Knight and first steps towards the dark side.
Anakin Skywalker's scar is one of the biggest mysteries in the Star Wars franchise. One of the biggest changes Anakin undergoes between Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith is the appearance of a brand-new scar over his right eye. While Anakin is one of the fundamental characters of the saga, this is an element of his journey that has received very little to no explanation in any Star Wars movies or TV shows.

Helldivers 2's organic storytelling drives immersive action and player-driven scenarios. The game's cinematic quality enables spontaneous replication of sci-fi film scenes, including one from Starship Troopers. Players create memorable moments, forge friendships, and build heroic narratives in the chaos of battle.
One of the many beautiful aspects of Helldivers 2 is the game's capacity to drive organic storytelling during the battleground's chaos. Over 450,000 players have banded together to complete intergalactic missions sent by the enigmatic gamemaster Joel. However, as Helldivers spread managed democracy across the known galaxy, some encounter scenarios that have played out in another universe 27 years ago.
Arrowhead Game Studios received praise for the cinematic nature of the Helldivers 2. Explosions feel heavy, and the voices of the soldiers themselves are guttural. Despite the film-like quality of the game, few expect player-driven scenes to be almost a play-by-play replication of sci-fi films. In a space where life imitates art, one...

Witness an epic collision of worlds in a fan animation combining Helldivers 2 and Star Wars: Clone Wars styles. Helldivers 2 players unite in a galactic war for freedom against Terminids and Automatons. The Helldivers 2 community is already strong with dedicated members creating unique content and challenges.
The worlds of Helldivers 2 and Star Wars: Clone Wars collide in an excellent fan animation that homages the iconic work of legendary animator Genndy Tartakovsky. Given that both Helldivers 2 and the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy feature plenty of battles against killer robots, it makes sense that an artistic fan would combine the two franchises in some form or another. Yet this piece of animation that imagines what Tartakovsky's take on Super Earth's galactic war would look like is perhaps the best way of mashing the universes together.

An animated video of Helldivers 2 gameplay has been circulating on the internet, and fans wonder when Arrowhead Game Studios released such a version of the game. However, it turns out that the video was an imaginative idea of an animator fan who modeled it after Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars. The video had fans almost convinced for a second that the new video game got itself an animated remake.

Uncle Iroh has undoubtedly been a fan-favorite and one of the most likable characters from the 2005 show Avatar: The Last Airbender. Played by the Japanese voiceover artist Mako Iwamatsu for two seasons, the actor injected the character of Iroh with wisdom and warmth. Unfortunately, by 2006, the role went over to American actor Greg Baldwin.

In George Lucas' 1977 sci-fi flick "Star Wars," there is a scene wherein a cadre of Nazi-like bad guys, in the employ of the evil Empire, gather around a boardroom table and mention that the mysterious off-screen Emperor has dissolved the senate and taken absolute control. The military generals are outraged, wondering how the Empire might survive without a bureaucracy in place. In Irvin Kirshner's 1980 sequel "The Empire Strikes Back," it's established that Darth Vader (David Prowse), a mysterious masked warlock, was actually the Emperor's right-hand man, indicating that the Emperor retains control of the Empire through the sheer force of his villainy.
In "The Empire Strikes Back," the Emperor appeared in holographic form to have a powwow with Darth Vader and plan his next move. In the original cut of the movie, the Emperor was played on screen by actress Marjorie Eaton, outfitted with eerie, alien eyeballs. Eaton was a long-working character performer in Hollywood,...

The 2003 Clone Wars animated series, led by Genndy Tartakovsky, features an epic lightsaber duel on Yavin 4 that is considered the best in Star Wars history. The duel captures the essence of a great lightsaber fight with its choreography, location variety, emotional depth, and unique atmosphere and aesthetics. While other Star Wars duels are impressive, any future duel hoping to surpass the Yavin 4 duel will need to excel in using the environment, showcasing enticing lightsaber combat, and fitting into the characters' story arcs.
This epic, emotional showdown between light and dark forces during the Clone Wars – the best lightsaber duel in all of Star Wars – isn't even canon. The 2008 cartoon series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is now a heralded piece of the "Star Wars" legacy, filling in plenty of gaps in the "Star Wars" prequel film trilogy. It also finally told the story of the eponymous conflict — which was first namedropped all the way back in the original 1977 "Star Wars." "The Clone Wars" was a story that had been speculated on for more than 40 years. What if I told you, though, that the story had already been recounted by 2008?

The return of Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 contradicts the character's apparent death in Christie Golden's Dark Disciple. The Star Wars timeline is constantly changing and prone to small inconsistencies and retcons due to the nature of multimedia storytelling. Lucasfilm intends to respect Dark Disciple and ensure that any new storytelling with Ventress aligns with the events of the book.
The explosive trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 means the official Star Wars timeline is out of date just nine months after its release. Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 brings back Asajj Ventress, reconnecting the series to the roots of Star Wars animation. Ventress's return celebrates the 21-year history of the Clone Wars concept, honoring its influence and significance. The Bad Batch marks the end of the Clone Wars era with Ventress, tying back to the original Clone Wars series and its characters.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 is bringing back Sith assassin Asajj Ventress, a Clone Wars return of more significance than viewers may realize. Lucasfilm's award-winning animated series The Bad Batch has been serving as a spiritual successor to The Clone Wars, and a capstone to the prequel trilogy era of Star Wars stories. It has depicted the end of the Republic and its transition into the Empire on a more personal level than the movies, and has even literally retired things like the cloning facility on Kamino, with its sad destruction.

What?! That’s where all of us Star Wars fans are at after watching the trailer for The Bad Batch season 3, which reveals that Asajj Ventress is Alive. What the heck is happening in the galaxy far, far away?
Remember: the fan-favorite The Clone Wars Nightsister villain was a staple of that TV series…until she was killed offscreen during the show’s long hiatus, in the pages of the novel Dark Disciple by Christie Golden. In that 2015 novel, Asajj, operating as more of an anti-hero than a straight up dark sider, sacrificed herself to save the man she loved, the rogue Jedi Quinlan Vos, from Count Dooku. At the end of the book, Asajj is returned to the waters of Dathomir, where the Nightsisters lay the dead to rest.
Here’s the problem: this all happened during the Clone Wars era, some time before the events of Revenge of the Sith.

"Star Wars," much like the superhero genre, thrives in animation. It is in this medium that the potential for storytelling of the galaxy far, far away truly becomes apparent. Whether it is the larger-than-life feats of power of Genndy Tartakovsky's "Clone Wars" micro-series, the expansive worldbuilding and cinematic visuals of "The Clone Wars," or the explosion of varied visuals and stories bringing different cultures to the franchise in "Star Wars: Visions," animation can bring out the best in "Star Wars."

It’s going to be coming back and have a big boom over the next couple of years,” he said.
He predicted buyers will lean more towards comedy, which is inherently cheaper to produce than drama as they get “more bang for their buck”.

Genndy Tartakovsky makes everything he works on better, but even he wasn't able to fix the hot mess that was "Iron Man 2." In Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales, and Gavin Edwards' book "MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios," the acclaimed filmmaker behind beloved titles like "Samurai Jack," "Dexter's Laboratory," and "Star Wars: Clone Wars" reveals that he was tapped by director Jon Favreau to help streamline the Marvel sequel's climax.
"Jon was a fan, and he liked the sensibility that I had on 'Samurai,'" Tartakovsky said in an interview for "MCU." "I know what I would want from this situation, so I just tried to give it to him — and he could use all of it or none of it." The scene in question takes place in a park in Queens, where a Japanese tea garden was digitally created. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Rhodey (Don Cheadle...

Anakin genuinely cares about the clones and goes to great lengths to avenge their deaths, showing his compassion and protective nature. Anakin's unhealthy attachment to the clones is tied to his tendency to respond with violence rather than mourning, which tragically highlights his flawed character. After becoming Darth Vader, Anakin abandons his compassion for the clones and treats them as mere tools, showing no remorse or second thoughts when killing them.
Star Wars' various portrayals of the Clone Wars - whether in 2003's Star Wars: Clone Wars or its successor Star Wars: The Clone Wars - show Anakin Skywalker was truly a great Jedi, and make his fall even more tragic. In Star Wars Legends, Count Dooku possessed the power of Force Flight, allowing him to levitate by pushing against the ground with the Force. Force Flight is an offshoot of telekinesis and is not used in Star Wars Canon, although there are some similar abilities, such as double jumping or briefly holding others in midair. While Dooku displays Force Flight in the non-canon novelization of Revenge of the Sith, it is not currently possible in Star Wars Canon due to the exertion required.
The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many unnatural abilities, and the fearsome Count Dooku once harnessed one of these powers in Star Wars Legends. Generally speaking, many of the Force powers in Star Wars Canon are much weaker than their Legends counterparts. When most people utilize the Force in Canon, they perform simple telekinesis, like pushing or pulling objects and enemies. Of course,...

Exclusive: Sony Pictures Animation is in development on a new fantasy-adventure feature from Matt Braly, the creator of Disney’s multiple Emmy-nominated animated series, Amphibia.
Braly comes to the as-yet-untitled project after working for the studio as a storyboard artist on The Mitchells vs the Machines, the Academy Award-nominated feature produced by Lord Miller, which was released on Netflix in 2021.
Drawing on his own cultural background and personal history, the film tells the story of a young boy who goes on an emotional journey to a fantastical world of Thai spirits where he hopes to have his illness cured. Braly will direct from his script written with Rebecca Sugar (Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe).
Chronicling the adventures of the 13-year-old Thai-American Anne Boonchuy (Brenda Song) within a fantasy world full of frogs, toads, and giant insects, Braly’s show Amphibia ran for three seasons on Disney Channel from 2019-2022. A renowned animator,...

There are multiple ingredients to an action-adventure animated series: well-crafted protagonists, a story hook that keeps viewers coming back for more, and an antagonist and/or antagonists who provide a challenge. Genndy Tartakovsky has proven to be a master at juggling all of these elements throughout his various animated projects, whether it's the adventures of a caveman and a dinosaur in Primal or his insanely awesome, over-the-top depiction of a galaxy far, far away in the Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series. But Tartakovsky's magnum opus has to be Samurai Jack. The action-adventure epic followed the titular samurai, voiced by Phil Lamarr, as he finds himself stranded in a dark future.

We’re well into the so-called post-Peak TV era. Tightening budgets and consolidating streaming platforms suggest an uncertain future for the medium. With the exception of new staples like The Last of Us and Poker Face, many of the best television shows of 2023 wrapped things up with their final seasons or had only limited runs. And due to the Hollywood strikes, the TV landscape could look quite different by this time next year.
Yet, Succession and Barry have proven that there remains room for complex narratives skewering American lust for power and unaccountability, while comedies like The Great, I Think You Should Leave, and I’m a Virgo bent the boundaries of the form with gonzo vigor. And new animated shows like Genndy Tartakovsky’s Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and Max’s Scavengers Reign bring a sense of fantastical wonder that’s generally lacking in more terrestrial series. The Star Wars animated series, especially The Clone Wars, provides additional backstory and development for the core characters of the prequel trilogy, making the overall era feel more complete. The animated shows have started to crossover into live-action shows and movies, raising concerns about the complexity of the core Star Wars stories and the obligation to watch multiple seasons of the animated shows. However, Dave Filoni, the creative force behind the animated shows, has stated that new viewers don't need to watch the old animated shows in order to understand and enjoy the newer installments in the Star Wars franchise.
The Star Wars franchise has expanded exponentially over the last decade. In the years since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the number of new Star Wars films, shows, books, comics, and more has skyrocketed. It's a little humbling to realize that Adam Sandler is in his mid-fifties, just a few years away from the milestone birthday of 60 years old. Sandler is all but enshrined as a comedy icon, having recently received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and being known to one generation as a mischievous part of "Saturday Night Live" and to another for his roles in animated films like "Hotel Transylvania." Mortality and legacy are -- at least somewhat -- a part of Sandler's latest project, an animated film from Netflix (where he's primarily worked for the last few years). The film is "Leo," which coasts on irresistible charm even when the plot is a bit light. Though "Leo" is perhaps not the most groundbreaking animated film of the year, its gentle tone and emotion mixed with some standard anarchic gags from the Happy Madison school of comedy work in its favor.

Star Wars stories often end on cliffhangers, building excitement for the next release and honoring the tradition of adventure serials. Some Star Wars cliffhangers take months or even years to be resolved, leaving fans with unanswered questions and generating fan theories. Memorable cliffhangers in Star Wars include General Grievous' attack, the search for Revan, and Ahsoka's departure from the Jedi Order.
The Star Wars franchise includes many cliffhanger endings that leave the audience asking questions and demanding answers in the next installment. Star Wars creator George Lucas was inspired by the adventure serials he grew up watching as a child, which often ended on cliffhangers that would be resolved the following week. This kept audiences coming back and demanded a recap at the start of each serial, leading Lucas to include an opening crawl at the beginning of each Star Wars movie. Asajj Ventress, a popular Star Wars villain, first appeared in the Legends continuity 20 years ago and later became part of the new canon. In the new canon, Ventress is a Dathomirian rather than a Rattataki and has a tragic backstory involving the Sith. Ventress's story in the new canon includes her becoming a bounty hunter and forming a close relationship with Quinlan Vos before ultimately sacrificing herself for his redemption.

Anakin and Ventress's lightsaber duel in Star Wars: Clone Wars showcases clear stakes and reflects their conflicts and motivations. Star Wars started as a titan of cinema, but as the original trilogy and prequels closed, it gained new traction in animation. Through animation, Star Wars evolved into something totally new as it filled in the gaps that the movies couldn't explore, from The Clone Wars to the rise of the Rebel Alliance. As a new era of Star Wars is born, animation has to be a crucial component to help expand on ideas already introduced in previous projects.
As the Star Wars universe continues to expand in every direction possible, there is one medium the franchise needs to rely on now more than ever: animation. Animated series have long been a part of Star Wars, starting initially with 2D animated series in the mid-80s like Droids and Ewoks. While these series have garnered cult followings of their own, it would be decades before animation truly revolutionized the Star Wars brand.

Dracula's last box-office hit was in 2018 with Hotel Transylvania 3, showing a tough reality for the character in recent years. Genndy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars microseries was the first-ever glimpse into the Clone Wars era, featuring iconic characters like General Grievous and Asajj Ventress. The microseries can still fit into canon as an in-universe propaganda show commissioned by Palpatine to sway public opinion in favor of the Republic.
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries from 2003 is easily one of the innovative and visually unique projects in the franchise. Sony Pictures Animation is shoring up its executive ranks with the addition of Damien de Froberville, who has been named executive vice president of production and operating strategy.

Kristine Belson, leader at Sony Pictures Animation behind films like the Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse,” informed her staff of the hire in a memo circulated on Monday. She touted de Froberville’s “remarkable career” and said “we know Damien will help us break new ground at Spa.”

Adam Sandler's Hotel Transylvania films dominate his highest-grossing movies list globally, with the top 3 spots being occupied by the franchise. Despite not being involved in the most recent film or series, the comedic actor's portrayal of Count Dracula has contributed to the success of the franchise. With Sandler primarily focusing on making stories for Netflix, it's uncertain if any future film will surpass the popularity and earnings of the Hotel Transylvania saga.
Adam Sandler is one of the most recognized comedy actors in the world. Despite the criticism that many of his films receive, the comedian continues to demonstrate that he is a big star thanks to the good performance of his movies at the box office and on streaming platforms. "Hotel Transylvania: Transformania" lacks the magic of the previous films without Adam Sandler's voice as Dracula. "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" is an enjoyable film with a hilarious romance and incorporates more zany humor. "Hotel Transylvania 2" surpasses the original with a refined formula, themes of inclusion, and Adam Sandler's best performance as Dracula.
The Hotel Transylvania series has been a consistent favorite among younger viewers since its inception, with each animated film bringing in an impressive figure at the box office. The films put a lighter, more silly spin on the famous Universal monsters like Dracula and the Wolfman, with all the classic monsters coming together under the roof of Dracula's hotel. Though each installment in this quirky franchise has been a delight in its own way, they weren't all created equal, especially as we dive into the later installments.
